Stayed at the Grosvenor Hotel for a few days before heading to Southhampton for a cruise. Perfect Hotel for sightseeing. Within walking distance of many attractions...Buckingham Palace 10 minutes. Victoria station is just down a set of stairs from the lobby and from there you can go anywhere...by train, bus, taxi, and The Tube. Restaurants, shops, fast food and Tour companies !!! Check in was fast and the staff were very helpful. Our room was on the executive floor and was very quiet. The room itself was comfortable and a good size. Washroom was very small, but clean and had bathtub and shower. There was also a coffee maker in our room which I made good use of every morning. It is definitely an older hotel and in need of some fixing up but it has an elegance that only comes with age :) Would certainly stay here again on our next trip to London.
It's grand, it's central, the Reunion Bar is ok and the bed was extremely comfortable. That's where it ends for the good points. I had a one night stay there for business - and I don't plan on returning Check-in15 minutes to queue as a huge group arrived in front of me. No separate desk set up for those not part of the group and no one asked if there was anyone else individually needing to check in Drinks52.88 for 2 drinks each with a friend is outrageous. RoomLovely, but 2 lifts and 3 big corridors meant it was (I timed it) 8 minutes from the front door due to how small and slow the lifts were as wellNo remote control for the tvNo hot water in the morning (not the most comforting bath as a result)Breakfast I'd already queued for 10 minutes when I gave up (only 1 person in the desk taking people to their tables at peak time and we weren't allowed to find our own table)Check-outI very politely shared the issues with the check-out staff. They are very apologetic back - I had no issue with them at all. I had perhaps thought, however, they may cancel the cost of the drinks on my bill. Nope - all I was offered was a room upgrade if there was one available next time I stay. It is very unlikely there will be a next time, I'm afraid.
We just left after 5 nights Our travel agent booked us into this hotelIt is in a great location for using the tube to get around LondonIt is 5 minutes to Buckingham palaceThe best part was a great breakfast buffet that was includedThe best way to start a day of sightseeingIf you want bottled water all you need to do is call and they bring bottles to your room for free
S $380/- for cheapest twin room. Convenient location. 5min walk to Buckingham Palace. Many small restaurants nearby including Indian, Chinese and Italian food. Next to Main Victoria Train Station with entrance to hotel from inside the station. Small rooms. Free wifi ( unsecured ).Longbath with shower. No minibar.
Stayed here for 3 nights recently on a tour of UK. Grand looking hotel on the outside and the reception area but quickly goes down hill from there. Was booked in a "wing" room overlooking Victoria station (great location I admit). Walking the halls you notice worn carpet and furniture that is tired. Rooms are small (think NYC) and amenities are few. Bathroom was small but adequate and the bed was comfortable. Room was quiet but the view was looking out over train sheds. Includes full English breakfast so that is a plus. Short walk to Buckingham Palace and other tourist attractions. Would likely stay in a Branded hotel next time, but in a pinch ok.
