No heating-froze!

No heating in the room at all! Froze all night! Was very disappointed with the lack of care from the staff member when I complained that it was freezing in the room, she just stared at me and said the boiler was broken from the day before! Would not arrange any other room or find a solution, was not impressed considering it was not cheap for the room from AUD currency. Ended up getting sick on my trip and I would put it down to from that night.

Adequate and reasonable for location

I stayed here on my own for two days whilst on a short break visiting a friend.I was never intending to spend much time at the hotel so the main requirement was location, cost and an adequate level of comfort and security.In terms of location, it was perfect for me. On a quiet street midway between Earls Court High Street and Gloucester Road, the tube stations were readily accessible as were the eateries/facilities around that area.The hotel itself looked like it was trying to be more than it was, presumably because of the location and the proliferation of much more upmarket, expensive hotels nearby. It definitely felt a little "unloved" and could probably do with a spruce up.The reception area was fairly sparse with a small cafe area to one side and large reception desk. I believe "breakfast" was taken in the basement and whilst this was included in the price (whether I wanted it or not), I never went down there to eat so can't really comment.Upon arrival, the receptionist insisted in copying some form of ID. I can't remember the last time I had to do this in London so thought it a little unusual. After doing the usual signing of forms and paying, I noticed that one of these forms was to give them the right to enter the room and remove belongings if the check out time was exceeded. Along with having to hand in my key card every time I left the hotel, it all felt a little passive aggressive. Perhaps, they've had issues before with visitors not paying etc? On the flip side, there were always staff around in the reception area and it did feel secure.My room was on the fifth floor and fairly spacious with three single beds, tea/coffee making facilities, small in-built wardrobe and a small TV with the usual free to air digital channels. The linen, whilst clean, was a little scratchy/itchy. There was no air conditioning so the room got very hot at night, although there was a complicated looking dehumidifier which I didn't attempt to use. No bottled water was provided.The bathroom was disproportionately tiny compared to the rest of the room, but still adequate for my own needs. Plenty of towels were provided and it was clean with a good shower. My only gripe were the sachets of shampoo/gel that were just impossible to open in the wet!In general the room was fine, although there was evidence of that unloved feel with a bedside telephone that looked like it was out of the ark and slightly damaged. In addition, there seemed to be red lipstick or something smeared on it. A little grim, but not terrible. I didn't use the wifi provided so can't comment on that.Overall, for the amount I paid it provided a useful base in a good location. Just don't expect the Ritz!

Cupboard or room ?

Tiny room and en-suite with small high window - very very hot even without heating on and this was February !!!!! Hairdryer not working. Had to wait for table each morning for breakfast Breakfast very very basic continental - better off forgoing and eating elsewhere. Location quite good for underground. Need to provide passport on check in even if UK resident !!!! Only positive thing say is very clean !!!!

Perfect for what we needed

We stayed at the Avni on Friday. Great location minutes from Gloucester Road Tube Station. Room was quite big for London standards and the bed was the best hotel bed we have in in a long time. Would definitely recommend if you are staying in this area of London

Tiny room but sensibly appointed but rubbish wifi and things not working

The staff are very helpful and friendly at the Avni. There is a 24 hour reception which is good. The room I was given was on the 4th floor and was tiny but sensibly appointed. It wasn't quite finished as there was a gap in the tiling under the sink. There was no duvet but a sheet and blanket. The room was very clean and the towels in the bathroom were fab. The bedside lamp didn't work, nor did the TV remote controls. There was a tiny window which opened was great as the room would have been horribly close and claustrophobic. The wifi was absolutely rubbish. It connected then wouldn't for hours and it was a slow as a creaking, ancient dial up system so not worth using at all. I moved to the Comfort Inn and for a much cheaper price, I've got a larger room with a big window, everything works and the wifi is great.
