Clarion Hotel Anaheim
- What's Included
Our OpinionA cozy 3 star hotel. The Clarion Anaheim is 1 block from Disneyland. Offers a games room and Nintendo for the kids. Pool with pool side bar. If the price is right this is not a bad choice.
OverviewThis is a good choice if you are traveling with kids or are looking for an affordable place to stay near the Disneyland Resort®. Rooms are clean, cozy and offer the convenience of a full service hotel - step out on your balcony and watch the fireworks! Location: 10-minute walk from Disneyland Resort®, next to the Anaheim Convention Center, 5 minutes to Anaheim's Garden Walk. 57km from Los Angeles Int'l Airport.
This hotel is in need of serious renovations. The rooms are very outdated and dirty. With all of the options around Disneyland, they need to update this one to be competitive. I have stayed in many of the hotels around here and needless to say, I won't be staying here again.
We spent a total of two nights here for our Disneyland trip. The hotel was in a good location about a 20 minute walk from Disneyland. Staff at the front desk were friendly and gave us information about opening hours of Disney and also informed us of their hotel shuttle to the park. We really just used our room for sleep and showers, the beds were comfortable and clean, bathrooms were clean. We did have an issue with our toilet on the first night which was fixed very quickly when we rung front desk. We did not eat here as we out either at the park or somewhere along the way, there was a small snack and drink shop downstairs which was convenient. There was also a coin laundry here which was wonderful for us as this was stop number two in a four week trip so it was great to get some washing done!
We checked out a day early because this place was so awful. The staff weren't interested to know why, so I guess that we're not the only ones! Staff weren't very helpful, room was poor and dirty, dirty breakfast pots were still outside the room at 11pm. Beds weren't big enough to share for a family of 4. Aircon was noisy and the bar closed at 10. There weren't any chairs on the balcony. The whole area was run down and didn't offer many restaurants in walking distance other than burger bars. Probably cheap and cheerful for students but one to be avoided otherwise. Definitely in need of a refurbishment and some staff training.
My room was not ready when I went to check in around noon. They suggested I leave my bags with the bell hop and said they would call/text when my room was ready. Check-in was supposed to be at 4 pm, and I still did not receive notice my room was ready so I went and checked at about 5 pm. They said yes, the room is ready now, but did not know why I was not notified I could come back and finish my check-in. When I received my bag I noticed that the pull arm was extended, slightly bent, and very loose. The handle was fine when I left Amtrak that morning and took a Lyft to the hotel. The different person working now said it was that way already, and I told him that it was not that way when I came in around noon. I told him that I wanted to speak to a manager and he reluctantly went and found someone in charge. The person in charge said the bellhop is not part of the hotel operation, and are contractors. He took my information and said a manager for the bell hop service would contact me, which has still not happened two plus weeks later. During my weeklong stay, the housekeeping took it upon themselves to decide what was trash on the flat bar/sink counter and dresser. Twice my plastic cutlery and dishes were taken away, and once my work receipts that I left on the dresser were tossed out. When I called the front desk at 5 am to inquire about replacement cutlery so I could eat my breakfast, I was told that for security reasons the front desk person could not leave the counter and that they were the only employee on site. I found this statement alarming since this is a nine story hotel with hundreds of rooms and guests. I asked what would happen in an emergency in the hotel while the front desk person is solo and they stated that they are only alone for a few hours and that everything is "always" okay during that time. Also, my bed was lopsided and had a worn area/divet to one side.
Yes this is an older hotel, but it is clean, reasonable and located on the ART bus line to the Disney parks, so no need for a car. The staff is helpful, and friendly and very willing to help you find your way.
