Clarion Hotel Anaheim
- What's Included
Our OpinionA cozy 3 star hotel. The Clarion Anaheim is 1 block from Disneyland. Offers a games room and Nintendo for the kids. Pool with pool side bar. If the price is right this is not a bad choice.
OverviewThis is a good choice if you are traveling with kids or are looking for an affordable place to stay near the Disneyland Resort®. Rooms are clean, cozy and offer the convenience of a full service hotel - step out on your balcony and watch the fireworks! Location: 10-minute walk from Disneyland Resort®, next to the Anaheim Convention Center, 5 minutes to Anaheim's Garden Walk. 57km from Los Angeles Int'l Airport.
The Clarion Hotel is definitely NOT suitable for a family of 5. The rooms were so tight we had to walk single file, even though we booked for 5, everyday they left us towels for 4. The staff were extremely unhelpful, in EVERY ASPECT, especially the tours desk operator who had been working there only a few days. He was NOT properly trained, admitted he did not know what he was doing, therefore I had to book all my own tours from my room. We only attempted to eat at the restaurant once for breakfast, but most of the items they had run out of, so we ended up grabbing muffins from the convenience store. I checked out a month ago, yet I am still waiting for my credit card hold to be released!!!
We stayed at this hotel while in Los Angeles. Was easy to find and park up at. This hotel is within about 30 to 40 minute walk to Disney but I recommend using the bus that stops directly in front of the hotel. The hotel itself is pleasant. We had a slight issue with the room but this was quickly dealt with by reception with a no fuss approach to keep you calm. We were on the 8th floor in a daily big room. Which was nice didn't make you feel penned in, rooms were cleaned daily with extra sheets and pillows in the room so you didn't need to chase someone up about them. The bathroom was a little dated but worked fine. I wasn't happy about the little charge for the safe I would of thought that would of been included in the room so be warned about that. But if you want a good clean place close to Disney I really haven't got any complaints about this place.
I definitely booked this hotel for the price, especially since it was so close to Disneyland. Though, red flags went up as soon as we checked in when we were told that we had to pay $14 a day for parking. Really?! We were very shocked about that, though the gentleman checking us in said that he could "give us a deal" and make it only $5 a day if we signed up for the choice hotels newsletter things. We did, only because we wanted to save a little bit of money on the parking. We were told we were going to be on the 9th floor, which is the very top, on the newly renovated floor. Trust me, it didn't look like much of a renovation. When we got to our room, we were actually appalled to see the job that had been done. There was still brick in the room, where it looked like it used to be a patio and they just extended the room itself. The furniture looked like something out of the seventies. The television was small with blurry views, and the microwave was something you could find at Goodwill. Considering we were at Disneyland during most of the days anyway, it wasn't too bad, but the two nights that we were in the mood to just hang out in the room for the evening, we didn't feel like we were getting what we paid for. It got to the point where we were looking for other hotels to check into, but decided it wasn't worth it since we would be leaving shortly. The walls are very thin. Every morning we could hear the family with two kids next to us (in which the kids were being yelled at or disciplined), which was something we definitely didn't care to hear at 7am. The staff is amazing and all, which was great, but the room itself was pretty terrible. The bathroom was definitely not apart of that "renovation" as the work done on it was practically non existent. The shower's water pressure was insanely low, and definitely not one that you would expect to be using in a hotel you are paying $110 a night for. We did try out the breakfast our first morning, the continental breakfast was a joke. My husband attempted to grab some bacon and eggs, but was stopped and told he could only get fruit. Which was honeydew melon and canteloupe. I did get pancakes and the bacon and eggs, which was way overpriced. Our total came out to about $39, which was very disappointing considering my husband could only eat the fruit! The Hilton is directy across the street from this place, so I 100% recommend speding the extra $20 a day to stay there. Like I said, the staff was great, very kind and attentive, but the standards of this hotel are definitely not what you would expect for what you are paying. We will not be back to stay at the Clarion Hotel Anaheim Resort.
Really disappointing stay. Rooms were old and gross, "recently renovated!??". No microwave available anywhere on site, put one in the lobby people! For the premium price you can do way better than this place. Small tv, old furniture, locks in bathroom didn't work, no microwave. Friendly front desk staff was the only positive.
About one mile from the entrance to Disneyland and just a block from the Anaheim Convention Center, the Clarion has a good location, it's clean and the bed is comfortable. The decor and furnishings are cheap, dated and a bit worn around the edges. The room included a mini-fridge (but no microwave) and a small safe (for which they will automatically charge you a $1.50/day unless you tell them you didn't use it). There is a pool and an on-site restaurant but I tried neither. The wi-fi is free and works well. They were surprisingly strict about the 4PM check-in. I showed up a little after 3:30 and was given a stern lecture by the clerk that check-in was not until 4. She did still let me check in but was a bit snippy about it.As others have noted, despite what your GPS tells you, the hotel entrance is off Harbor Boulevard just across Convention Way; you can't access it from Convention Way because it's a one-way driveway. Parking was $14/day.While my stay here was largely fine, I also didn't spend a whole lot of time at the hotel. I chose it because I got a good deal at the time ($108/night), and it was within walking distance of Disneyland. At that price (or under), I would stay here again but I wouldn't pay more than that. There are a lot of other choices nearby.
