Terrific Stay

We chose to stay on property for this trip to Disneyland. The Paradise Pier Hotel fit our bill perfectly. It was an easy walk to Downtown Disney with their many restaurants and shops and both of the theme parks. The staff was always friendly including the big shots wearing suits. They all went out of their way to help you or to just say hello. You could not open a door if a Disney employee was near, they would always beat you to it. The hotel features a parking ramp that is secure and while they have a pool, it was under construction but you could use a different Disney hotel's pool. This particular hotel also offers clothes washers and dryers for a fee which worked out well for us. For parents with young kids, there is a mini theater playing Disney cartoons and movies all day long. I don't think we ever went past there when there wasn't at least a few kids taking advantage of it. The rooms are fairly spacious and clean and have a fun Disney theme. Be sure to look for the "Hidden Mickeys" in the pattern on the bed spreads and on the lights. Highly Recommended!

I didn't think we'd stay here again, but we came back.

My family of four came to the Happiest Place on Earth to experience the Halloween festivities and decided on staying on the property at Paradise Pier. This was actually our second time staying here over our previous few stays at Disneyland Hotel. Despite the Paradise Pier not having all the grandeur of a Grand Californian or Disneyland Hotel, it definitely is a great economical option for those guests to experience all the perks of staying on the resort property and not shelling out $500+ per night at the other two hotels. The main perk (I think) is the Magic Mornings, where DL resort guests get 1 hour extra in the parks before the general public. Another cool perk if you're an early riser, you can partake in a roughly 2 mile guided power walk through CA Adventure at 6am every morning, weather permitting. Really cool to walk the park when its pretty empty with just workers prepping for opening. If you're an AP holder, definitely watch for the hotel promos that offer extras in addition to a low priced rate. I got lucky booking early this trip, getting a standard room under $300 with complementary fast passes for everyone in our party. "Yeey-Yeey!" I requested a lower level room since it's actually faster to use the stairs versus waiting for 1 of 4 elevators to come to your floor. From PP, the walk into CA Adventure is shorter than coming from DLH especially when you're able to enter from the Grand Californian. Depending on the time of day, it can also be faster getting into Disneyland through CA Adventure via Grand Californian. The Surfside Lounge is a great place for a grab and go breakfast. The pool area at PP is nowhere near the pool area at DLH or Grand Californian, but it's okay enough for the kids to get some pool time. The parking garage can be tight and bit of a hassle, but at least it's covered. The rooms are not much to rave about. It's pretty basic. You'd probably be more impressed at staying at a Marriott or Hilton hotel, but at least you get that Magic Morning. 😉 This is why I'm giving Paradise Pier a solid 4 our of 5. No big frills, but it gets you the same perks as the other two hotels at a lower rate. What I've learned about staying on the property is that you are paying a little more premium for the service, experience and convenience. Gotta build those "core memories" for the little kids. We plan on going back again this year to DL to experience the Christmas festivities and plan on staying here again. Better value.

spend the extra $$$ & stay at the other disney hotels

traveling w my husband & a baby & a toddler. we were trying to be cheap & stay here instead of the Disney hotel. we regretted it each day lol. we have to go back to our room a lot to nap, etc w the babies & it was just so much further than the other hotel. it doesn't look that way on the map, but when you are lugging around a drink, kids, just stuff- it is a lot further. also, the pool area isn't as good (although, they have redone it since we were there). there is no fan in the bathroom which we cant stand. the elevators took FOREVER. like, no joke, a 5 min wait. everyone was complaining to each other about how absurd the elevator wait took. the hotel was clean enough & the valet and bell hop, front desk, everyone was 'Disney friendly' lol like you would expect. however, the distance and pool area were enough to make us choose the reg Disney hotel next time. the original one I mean. they should provide a little golf cart type shuttle or something bc this hotel is so far away fr even downtown Disney if you are walking w kids & diaper bags. you cant take the Disney rental/strollers to the hotel & we didn't want to bring ours for fear of theft. its a cool hotel, but if you can afford the few extra bux, stay at one of the other on site hotels. I would say, the paradise pier hotel IS still way better than staying off site bc you do still get the experience of 'never leaving the magic of disney' so theres that.

Great View of Disney's California Adventure

We had a wonderful view of of Disney's California Adventure Park from our room. Though on property, be prepared to do a lot of walking. You can use the monorail into Disneyland, and can access the California Adventure Park through the Grand Californian Hotel with your room key and prepaid package. The room and bedding is Hampton Inn level. We found that some things were a bit worn, like our shower head, but all in all, we were comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. The character buffet breakfast was excellent, but a little pricey (as to be expected). Be sure to make reservations for your meals at the hotel.
