Good access to the parks

Great access to the parks. We arrived early and they managed to secure a room two hours prior to the normal check in time which was welcome. My daughter loved the character breakfast in the hotel's surfs up restaurant. We also made use of the hotel's washer and dryer. The hotel was also kind enough to extend our check out time to an hour later. We did not get to view the fireworks as it was cancelled due to the weather. Other than that, it was a fine stay.

It did the job

Hotel room was clean and relatively modern. Obviously the price is much higher than it should be - but your paying for location. Parking is easy. Nice enough pool. Food at the hotel is very limited and very expensive. $1.99 for a banana and $3 for coffee. But the ability just to walk to the park and without waiting for a shuttle or whatever is really nice. So I say bring food and stay there if you're at Disney. Plus the magic hour is very much worth it. I had a hard time choosing which Disney hotel. I didn't go in the other two hotels. At the time I booked Disney hotel and grand spa were both about 50% more expensive. From a location standpoint there isn't that much distance between Disney hotel and paradise pier. Yes pier is farther but negligible for the extra cost. grand spa however is significantly closer to the park entrance. We avoided going to our hotel a couple times because of distance. The grand spa hotel though seemed much easier to pop back into for a quick rest. If I were to do it again I'd pony up for the Grand Spa and find a way to cut another expense somewhere else.

Disappointed with overall hotel, lacking the 'Disney Magic'

We were not very impressed with Paradise Pier. For starters, the parking garage isn't connected to the hotel, and it has no elevators. We did a lot of schlepping to get into our room. Also, we were surprised there is no front-door shuttle service to the parks. Downtown Disney is nearby, but getting there and then getting to the monorail to actually enter Disneyland is burdensome. We were traveling with a sweet little old grandma who does not walk swiftly, and she was very tired out every day. The pool's waterslide closes early--at 5:30 p.m., so we never got to use it. Also, the "heated" pool was frigid, and we were forced to cram into an overcrowded hot tub to warm up. Our room was just OK, not many Disney touches. While we appreciated the modernity of the automated elevators, perhaps they should, in addition to asking your floor ask how many people are in your party and if there is a stroller or wheelchair along. We were smushed into tiny elevators and very uncomfortable. Finally, we were royally disappointed that after we shelled out a great deal of money for the character breakfast at PCH that we found the characters milling about and posing for photos for free with guests in the lobby. I wouldn't recommend Paradise Pier to any travelers.

Paradise Pier Hotel @ Disneyland

This was the 1st time staying at Paradise Pier! We did not know what to expect, we have stayed at Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian on the property but I gotta tell ya... We will most definitely be returning to Paradise Pier on our next visit to D-land. The room was very nice, beds were ultra comfortable, the hotel is quiet and we were fortunate to have a nice view of California Adventure across the street. The walk to the park was not that long of a walk as you walk through Downtown Disney, just a pleasant experience all around.
