Very friendly staff that offered us all the help, we had a room with a park view so you watch the show and listen to the music on the TV from the comfort of your room which was nice, didn't get to use the pools since it was cold, the property is on the old side and the food at the restaurant is not that great but average stay overall.
I have stayed at almost every single Disney property minus just a few over the past 20 years. Each hotel has something to offer. I personally loved this property. I did have a theme park view on the 12th floor with concierge access. This might have a lot to do with how I felt about the hotel. I loved how close I was to California Adventure at night. The theme park views of Magic Kingdom at the resorts along the monorail in Florida are jokes compared to your view in California. It was really beautiful and I really enjoyed that aspect a lot. The concierge level for me was fantastic. I believe the concierges name was Ken but he couldn't enough for us. He wanted so much for us to have a great time and you could feel it. I did have two complaints. The first is they need security at all times. There was an incident in the lobby with an intoxicated person who was approaching people and there was no security around. The area around Disney is somewhat undesirable and they need to protect guests. My room was also not cleaned properly and the maid had to come and clean but it was no big deal. I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel last year and I did love it but there was some issues such as being disconnected from the main areas. I also found the staff at the Paradise Pier much more friendly then the Disneyland Hotel. I guess it depends on the front desk agent you get. If you stay here splurge on theme park view with concierge level rooms. And shout out to Ken the nicest concierge I have ever met. Thanks for taking such good care of me and my cousins.
I have been to Disney Parks 3 times over the past 5 years. In all 3 times I have stayed in a Disney property and I have never had such a bad experience with a Disney-run hotel. First of all, the check at the Paradise Pier in was hectic, disorganized and slow - it took us 60 minutes to get from the hotel reception to our room. Second of all, the heating in our room was not working and the sofa bed was not made - they took 3 hours to come and fix it. And, third and worst of all, I asked the front desk the night before our departure to be able to check out TWO hours after their scheduled departure time of 11 am (which is not even based on standard practice) because my daughter was sick and we had barely slept the night before. I was told that I needed to wake up at 6 am to check on availability and that late check outs were done on a first come, first served basis. As I was up with my daughter until 3 am that night, I overslept and woke up at 8 am. By that time, all the late check outs were gone. I explained the situation again to the front desk staff (that my daughter was sick, that I needed a couple of hours to get organized, etc.) and they said that there was nothing they could do. At that point, I got completely fed up and dared them to kick me out of the room. I ended up leaving at the time I wanted but the staff’s lack of compassion was appalling. If this is the new Disney philosophy, I will be taking my business somewhere else.
The rooms and bathrooms are clean, good sized. Nothing fancy and a little tired, but it is Disney. Not too loud for being close to the park and the early entry into Disney makes it worth it just for that. We had a little security issue with the porters, my mom had some money taken from her bag while they were watching our bags. But Disney dealt with it seriously and the money was found and returned to her. All in all, I would use this hotel again, but not leave my bags withe the porters.
Check in was quick and simple. The room needed to be cleaned better. When looking for an outlet between the bed and side table I had found a black hair tie that did not belong to us. The carpet in the room had 4 stains on it. When pulling out the day bed I had also found trash that did not belong to us either. Whenever we used the sink it did not drain as well as a sink should. When I went to go shave with just soap and water it seemed to make the draining worse. The sink filled up almost to the top because it wouldnt drain and there was hair floating everywhere from my shaving, which is expected. After shaving we had to leave for our conference and when we returned our maid had been there and made our bed and gave us fresh towels. She however failed to do a simple wipe down of our sink. It had a thin yellow layer of soap in it from the slow draining and some hair as well. All I had to do was take a wash cloth get it wet and wipe out our sink and it looked good as new. Wish the maid would have made time to do this simple task while we were out. Seeing as how our room had trash that was not ours by the daybed and also a hair tie that was visible without moving any furniture that was also not ours it just made us question how clean our room really was from the previous guests. Paying as much as we did for our room it was unsatisfying to say the least.
