Howard Johnson Hotel and Water Playground
- What's Included
Our OpinionA great choice! The Howard Johnson Hotel and Water Playground is excellent for families. There is a large pirate cove themed water park with slides, water canons and a 30 foot pirate ship. The hotel has a cool retro look and the rooms are charming and clean. The games room is another great family perk. Cots are available for a fee, cribs are free but on request. This award winning hotel is great for all families members and is only an 8 minute walk to the Disneyland main gate.
I will certainly stay here again. Big room, very quiet at night, clean grounds. I really liked this hotel.
We stayed at the Howard Johnson for 10 days and 9 nights. It was a great place to stay and within a close walk to Disneyland. The staff were very helpful, in arranging tours, hire cars, transferred etc.A good clean Hotel. We got the Superior Queen Room, which meant we had a view of the Disneyland Fireworks each night. While not a five star Hotel (that in no way means we were not happy), neither is the cost. I got the Superior Queen room for less than half the cost of the basic room at the Disneyland Hotel. And theirbasic room has a view of the carpark, not the Fireworks. To get that level of room was significantly more. True the Disneyland Hotel allows for early entry, but to be honest our kids rarely release surfaced before 10am. And restaurants (like Goofy’s Kitchen – reviewed separately) are still available to non-Hotel guests. The swimming pool is good. There is a separate waterslide, which as other reviewers have said is only really for smaller kids. Our 6 year old liked it, but the 8 year old got bored quickly. But we did not come here for water slides, so it was not really a problem. We would recommend this Hotel. Definitely worth considering.
First I'll say the good. The beds were clean and the pool area was enjoyable .. but I'm so disappointed to not have received what I paid extra for. We go to Disneyland every year. I have places I love to stay, but this being our last trip for a few years I wanted to have a room with a great view of the fireworks, and that's what I PAID EXTRA to have . And of course, that is what I didn't have . Instead I had a giant tree blocking it all. When we arrived and I saw the tree we even asked if it will be obstructing our view, and their response was "no, that room has a great view of the fireworks." It was also next to the elevator, but I could ignore the noise for a great view . I am attaching pictures of this " great view". I am so disappointed . I could've stayed somewhere so much nicer and cleaner with free breakfast for the price I paid , only wanting the view. I find it pretty rude that they were consider this a room with a view and charge extra for it. While other rooms don't have trees, and I paid the same that they do. Maybe a partial view should be listed and they should have a partial discount for it.
Totally perfect stay! Near Disneyland and we ALL loved the waterpark inside! (From my 5 years old girl to my 60yrs. Old dad). We didn't get to try the food so I can not tell u about it... but about everything else it was the perfect spot for our family vacation. Definitelly would stay there again!
This is a great hotel if you are visiting Disneyland. Only 10 min or so walk to the attractions (or pay for a shuttle bus ride). Several restaurants and a bakery really close by. Lovely children's water park. Swimming pool in a separate area for adults and children who can swim. It would be nice if this pool opened before 9am to enable a swim before breakfast! To be fair it is open until 9 pm but with so much going on at Disneyland an early morning dip would be welcomed. Staff all helpful.
