Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach a Doubletree by Hilton
- What's Included
OverviewThis contemporary hotel is located on the Intracoastal Waterway.
Recently spent one night and it was one night too many. You would think it would be nice having a hilton name attached but its more like a motel 6. We arrived later in the evening close to 8 pm and had requested a king size bed. The front desk clerk went to check on the room and was gone for quite some time. She came back and told us she didnt have a king but a room with 2 queens and we were tired from traveling so we took the room. When we asked which way to the elevator she told us we need to leave the building and go across the driveway to our room. This building I honestly think was a motel at one point. We got to our room which was on the 3rd floor and it was terrible. The bathroom was so filthy, there was mold on the shower curtain, the shower/tub floor had rust all over it, the bathroom floor had sand on it, and the vanity was dirty. The AC unit was so loud it kept me up the majority of the evening- at one point it stopped working b/c we had at set at 68 and it was 74 in the am. Also our TV was not connected and after playing around it we were able to get 3 channels. They dont offer room service delivery. I called down to get 2 bottles of water and they stated I had to go back to the lobby to get them from the gift shop. I cant speak for the rooms in the tower and if they are any better but this place was terrible - I advise you stay away.
I frequent the area often for work and decided I would give the Bahia Mar a shot. I was working during the night and sleeping during the day so I called ahead asking for a high room away from any busy areas that would have a lot of noise. At check in (3-4 am) the agent was busy blasting music in the back. After saying a few "excuse me" someone finally came out. Check in process was smooth but he failed to acknowledge diamond status until I asked about my complimentary "Diamond member breakfast vouchers" and he said they were in the room. After I drove around and found a place to self park for $27 (typical for the area), I went to enter the "Marina View" building which has been supposedly "renovated." I noticed that all the entrances I checked the doors were unlocked. No need to use your key. So much for security! I've machine was also leaking right hear the entrance way. Good place to slip and break your neck! My room, unfortunately, looked pretty sad for being recently renovated. Carpet was run down, shower grout was moldy, just looked severely run down. To make issues worse, when I got into bed, I noticed stains from who knows what but the mind sure does wonder, on the bed sheets. I called to the front desk and was told "we will handle in the morning"....really? Furthermore, my room faced all the boat excursions (fishing tour, snorkel boats, etc), was on the 3rd not 4th floor, and although the scenery was nice, it wasn't what I had requested. When I called ahead I was told it would be facing an area with less noise and a high floor. Was pretty much told a bunch of fluff. Needless to say, I checked out. This hotel would be doing horribly if it was not on the ocean (well across the street). Overall, the "renovated rooms" need a good renovation, housekeeping fails to leave a guest with a clean room, and it's a horrible place to stay if you're working during the night and sleeping during the day. However, after my experience, I still wouldn't stay here if I was able to enjoy it on my leisure. Lots of other options in the area. Won't be back.
I stayed here for 8 days during my vacation August 4 through August 12, 2017. The hotel is beautiful and had everything...you would never have to leave the premises except to cross the street to the beach. :)The hotel is remarkable as are the hotel staff. Special thanks to a few of the employees that made my stay amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure my stay was a great experience...these great people wowed me and I was and still am impressed by their hospitality and professionalism. :)Ryan, front desk.Imogene, housekeepingRobbie, pool/gymOmar, pool bartenderMambi, securityThank you again! I will be back!Marlena
If you are not staying too long and want a basic hotel great place to stay. However the rooms are a little outdated. But for the price and location, most people can get past that. I would stay there again for a weekend trip especially for a room that has a balcony
Absolutely the most hospitable hotel I have ever stayed at my entire life. Every single staff member greets you with a smile and gladly offers assistance. The views of the ocean and Marina are gorgeous. I love everything about Bahia Mar!
