Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach
- What's Included
My wife and I stayed here for three nights and we're happy with the experience. We paid the extra $30 ish to have a 9th floor partial view of ocean and the inter-coastal, very worth it as you get a balcony with two chairs and cocktail table. Room had a fridge and microwave to keep us in water for the pool, ocean beach and drinks.Fyi, this hotel has the A1a highway between it and the beach, so not on beach. You can catch a $1 per person trolley out front and take it to the "broadwalk", yes broadwalk that is 1.2 miles away and check out the action.Good times.Bear
Kevin Velez, the concierge, was so helpful, polite, accommodating....all with a smile and genuine interest in helping us relax and not worry about anything! the pool is amazing! great tiki bar and food was consistently tasty! key lime pie soooo good. they didn't even mind that we ordered virgin drinks!!! twist of strawberry daq and pina colada called a miami vice! That was our lunch!!! Yum!!! Great brunch every morning. cleaning service lady was so sweet. Spacious room! $1 trolley to broadwalk with all restaurants an shops right on the beach....free live music fri night with everyone dancing.....fun vaca!!!!
Our favorite parts of this hotel stay included the Hollywood Trolley that picks up right outside of the Crowne Plaza and takes you to the boardwalk or downtown for $1 per person. The pool area at this hotel was fantastic. There is great seating all around the pool area, and a nice large area with tables to eat at as well.
The representative who checked us in was new and submitted incorrect charges to my credit card. Andre was phenomenal in correcting the inaccurate charges to my credit card. He went above and beyond and even faxed correspondence to my bank to assure that charges were correct.
This was our second stay here. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and facilities. Rooms and bathrooms are large, lots of drawer space. Pool is beautiful, sheltered from the wind, with multiple choices for sun and shade. Every single employee we encountered, whether at the desk, in the restaurant or at the pool was a model of customer service. I can name Jo and Yoli at the desk, Joe the concierge (great recommendations for GGs and Levy's Deli), and Kevin Velez, but the others were also wonderful. How often do you walk by the desk when returning to the hotel and get asked how you enjoyed your day? The only problem was that the restaurant sometimes seemed understaffed at breakfast, and it could be slow replenishing the buffet, but the servers were great. The food was too, both here and at the pool. The whole hotel is going to be redone, reportedly starting next week, to be finished by September. However, Hilton is taking over, perhaps Doubletree. We moved to the Diplomat, which is run by Hilton, for a professional conference, and I can tell after 1 day here that while the individuals working here are mostly helpful, the management policies are not. There was a party in the room across the hall with loud music, etc. it took half an hour until someone came to speak to them, and he might as well not have bothered - I have friends in hotel management and there are techniques that weren't used here. And worst if all, it feels as if you are being nickeled and dimed, or more accurately, loonied and toonied. There are 2 prices for breakfast at the Crowne Plaza: continental or full buffet, plus you can order individual items. Here, buffet sounds great but is massive and $35. Local and toll-free phone calls are free at Crowne Plaza. At the Diplomat, both cost a minimum of $2.50.I will review the Diplomat separately, but my point is that this review may no longer be pertinent once Hilton becomes the manager at Crowne Plaza.
