The trip was wonderful and the hotel is truly beautiful. We only had issues with the resort fees since the beach items were not available on Thursday and Friday due to the winds and water conditions. We spoke to the front desk and they indicated these were mandatory fees and to review all the items that were complementary. We of course pointed out these items are not complementary as we are paying for them in the $ 30.00 resort fee (wifi $ 12.95 a day, 2 8 oz of water at $3.00 each, and water sports with beach chairs). The complimentary drink was their choice of a beverage or domestic beer or table wine, or well drink. At the pool, you had to purchase mats to float in the pool at $ 15.00 each as these were not included in the resort fee. If you wanted to use the “adult pool” you had to book a spa service or pay $30.00 a day.We had construction going on in the room next to us as they are updating the hotel.Overall, it was truly beautiful and I would stay there again however it was disappointing about the resort fees and “what was not included” and the construction going on in the room next to us.The staff was amazing and we truly appreciate you finding this gem as it was truly beautiful
Most of all the staff at the spa was very friendly, especially the front desk; very welcoming and warm. I had a massage and it was good, not the best massage but still certainly not the worst. The 1 Star is for my shock and amazement at the condition of the women's facilities. The jacuzzi water was filthy in the women's facilities. There are face towels in a little steamer that say lavender towels, the smell and stench of mildew on those towels was shocking. There are stains all over the ceiling, and the tile is the same peach tile from the 90s. There were broken machines in the gym and one of the dishes I ordered by the pool had bad shrimp and had to be sent back. This was handled very well by the pool attendant, however that should never happen in a property that is this beautiful making this sort of income due to the price is being charged. The old adage, you have to spend money to make money has been lost on the spa and certainly the women's locker room. The Spa pool and jacuzzi in particular with those old ugly painted rocks is really a disgrace for a property like this. I scraped my foot on the outdoor Spa jacuzzi because it is in such bad need of being resurfaced. Really should be a huge Embarrassment for the Marriott brand but when I went to the front desk they said it had been recently redone??? I was very much looking forward to the day as I had not been there in years because my girlfriend's keep telling me it is run down, well they were right it is run down. One more note that really doesn't have anything to do with this review is the happy hour out by the ocean, the menu needs attention so badly. The quesadillas and overly fried calamari are also so 1995 and do not go with this property. They seriously need a new perspective. Little things that make a big difference as the entire Resort is so beautiful except for the spa, the gym; not even a bottle of water in the gym, the spa pool and the menu by the pool. Easy fixes that no one's fixing. Sigh.
The hotel was very nice, spacious rooms, and no visible hurricane damage. The bar was five, attentive service in the bar and restaurant. the lobby staff was very helpful, and the conference areas were fine. Rooms were very clean, and all the staff i encountered were friendly and helpful.
Came here for spa month and had a great massage at the hotel spa - nice Spa albeit some issues with staff who had very heavy accents and were hard to understand and lockers that were tricky to use! Massage itself was excellent. Parking with valet very reasonable with spa validation. Enjoyed a lovely lunch after the spa treatment at Sea Level - reviewed separately. Lovely pool and grounds.
Ashlee was our bartender at the tiki bar for our stay at the Marriott Harbor Beach. she is the best bartender, the greatest customer service i have received ever! She made sure we always had all she wanted for the hours we spent at the tiki beach bar! She had great suggestions for both food and drink and we never spent a moment waiting for service! it was a great stay at the hotle, but the beach time made it great and Ashlee made it a 5 star stay!
