This was our 25th anniversary celebration. Unfortunately both pool and hot tub closed for maintenance the entire 5 days of our trip. They offered use of sister facility's pool and hot tub which was 1.5 miles away. In addition, the intercostal was fenced off with a black screen/drape blocking view. We envisioned 5 days lounging at pool and hot tub on intercostal. They should have offered a discount for not being able to provide major amenities. Or at least offered breakfast. Executive leadership obviously does not value guests time and money.
Our flight arriving in Fort Lauderdale was several hours late, but we figured the upside would be arriving after the check in time, so we wouldn't have to kill time on arrival. We arrived at the hotel at 3:10pm on Nov 4 and went through a rather quick check in process of just a a few minutes because I had already prepaid for the room, but were told our room wasn't quite ready yet. We were assured by the gentleman checking us in, that the room was almost ready and he'd call my cell phone when it was ready. We were traveling as a family of 5, having left our home at 3am, we had already been traveling for 12hrs. There was a notice at the desk that indicated the pool was closed for maintenance (the pool itself was empty - we had received a reminder of our upcoming trip on October 28, but there was no mention of the pool being closed), since there was no good way to bide our time, we chose to sit and wait in the lobby...assuming it would be just a short wait. After about 30min, my husband returned to the front desk to be told that the housekeeping team was in the room at the time and it wouldn't be long. As compensation for our wait, he was offered 2 complimentary drink tickets for the evening...but, since they couldn't be used for room service & we were traveling with our young kids, we knew they'd go unused - not to mention, we'd already been traveling for 12hrs.After an ADDITIONAL 30min, my husband returned again to the desk...to be assured, once again, that it was almost complete. At this time, 2 out of 3 of our children were asleep in chairs in the front lobby and the 3rd was sitting in my lap crying from exhaustion - desperate for some place to lay his head! Everyone was starving, so while sitting in the lobby, we ordered a pizza for delivery, assuming that surely to God, the room would be ready before the pizza arrived! But, after a total wait of 2hrs, our pizza arrived and we were still sitting in the lobby! My husband was at the desk checking in again when it arrived...at this point, he was told our room was ready and he just needed to get the keys ready. We grabbed our keys and were offered complimentary buffet breakfast for 3 guests...we were a party of 5!! But, nope, they couldn't give us 5 despite it being 2hrs PAST check in! We headed upstairs to find 4 housekeeping staff STILL in our room...3 left and the 3rd continued to finish the room. We were so disappointed, exhausted & hungry that we went in anyhow and sat to eat while she finished. She was out and back several times gathering what was still needed while we chowed down on pizza. The stack of towels she brought in never made it past the shelf inside the door & she never did return with clean drinking glasses. For the price we paid for the room...$388...it was Boat Show weekend so the rate was more than $150 higher for one night than it would have been the following weekend...we were extremely disappointed! The location was perfect, but unfortunately, we'll be looking for a different hotel on our return visits to the area! The one saving grace for our stay was Allie (Allison) in the restaurant! The service she provided us at breakfast, before we headed to the cruise port in the morning was nothing short of amazing! She was incredibly friendly and went out of her way to accommodate our family!
Bed was super comfy and the housekeeping was great...attentive, kind, cleaned our room on our schedule, and so helpful. Valet parking team was very accommodating. (24/7) Back patio for visiting and good food with a view of the busy ICW was awesome.
Arrived with own vehicle and valet service was excellent. Was greeted by Ann-Marie at check in. Check in was fast and friendly, she was very helpful and courteous. Suites were small condos with kitchen and separate bedroom and bath with balcony. Very clean and modern with small kitchen. Great view of the intercostal. Starbucks in lobby or across the street with Publix grocery store. Walk to beach is short; 2 blocks. Will be back soon!
Nice location on canal. Water taxi stop at the hotel is handy. Happy Hour has good drink prices. Beach is easy walk and is a very nice beach. Hotel and room has a very worn out feel. Pool was down for repair but did not look very well maintained or very nice anyway so I went to the beach instead.
