The place is awesome, value for the price not so good

We stayed in Hawks Cay Resort for four days at the beginning of February with my family and some friends. First I have to say that the property is very nice, in a very small Kay in the Florida Keys full of nature and life, beautiful sea and unbelievable sunsets. It has all: several pools with different themes, tennis courts (cement and clay), kayaks, paddle boards, bikes, restaurants, small market. I mean all you might need to have a great vacation. Also receptionist and service staff was friendly in general and there is a transport running all day trough the property that takes you to your villa or to the main buildings fast and in a very convenient way. We enjoyed very single moment very much! But at the same time there were some things that are important to mention. First, the total price we pay for our two bathroom villa was 320 USD including 39 USD per day as resort fee and the price we got was a very discounted one. For that amount of money I spect some things to be better in terms of service. For example, I expect that they will do your villa, cleaning and making the beds every day but they did not do it. Kayaks, Paddleboards and bikes had an additional cost which is weird because of the cost of the room and even more because we were already paying the resort fee. I think it's not a good move to charge for that stuff because at the end it impacts the image of the place that is charging a fair amount of money already for the room. The owners villas are all different so you might get lucky and get a nice one or not so lucky and get a not so nice one. We had ours and our friends ones and ours was so much better than theirs. Better furniture, nicer kitchen, etc. I think they should demand owners to respect a certain level of quality and also ask for similar details in the villas so the differences are not so wide sometimes. Anyway, there are not so good options in the keys like this one (with a full Kitchen for example) that allows you to prepare your own food and organize yourself int the way you want so at the end you can get what you want for the place as we did and have a wonderful time there. I think if they change this policies of charging for small things like kayak, paddle board and bikes which sounds like a cheap thing to do after a guest has paid more than 300 USD for a night the place can become even a better place to stay. Anyway, if you want to go to the Florida Keys with your family, been able to have a great resort at hand and also manage your vacations without your own rhythm this is a great place to go. We really enjoyed nature, wild life, great views all over the place, a very well maintained resort and friendly staff.Hope you can get here, it's a very nice place but be warned about the price!Regards!

fantastic family vacation

Hawks Cay is a beautiful resort with friendly, efficient staff; clean and well appointed rooms with great balconies, and wonderful recreation areas that kept my whole family happy entertained. We especially enjoyed SCUBA Diving with Dive Duck Key, and Snorkeling, SUP and Kayak rentals with Sundance Watersports - both operated out of Hawks Cay Marina. The Kids Club is one of the best we've seen - my daughter had a blast! The only reason I did not give the resort a 5 star review is because of the food. All restaurants on property were lacking.

Great spot to explore the Keys

We recently returned from a trip to Hawks Cay and the Florida Keys. We have been to the Keys may times before but this was our first time traveling with our 2 year old and another family. The other family had kids aged 8 and 12 so when I was researching the best place to stay, I needed something that could accommodate the adults as well as the various aged kids. Hawks Cay fit the bill and suited our varying needs very well. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We rented a 3 bedroom townhouse that overlooked the dock and was a short and easy walk to the main building where the restaurants, main pool, bars, dolphins and marina are. The townhouse was perfect for afamily, couples or 2 families traveling like we were. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a similar experience. The resort is a 2 hour drive from Miami and Fort Lauderdale and an hour and a half from Key West making it very convenient and centrally located for any Keys adventure.

Only the best.

During a rent trip to Hawks Cay Resort Chris Bennett was on duty as one of the tram drivers. What a gentleman. He was professional helpful and informative. Kudos to him and the team at Hawks Cay. A great place to relax and enjoy life.

Terrible experience, again!!!

I booked a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom villa 6 months in advance, and prepaid for the entire trip. When we finally arrived at the hotel, after a 5 hour drive with our sleepy kids, the manager on duty told me the room I booked was not available. They could put us in a smaller room however. I asked why I was not informed of this before I drove 5 hours, and he did not have an answer. I asked why I had to prepay for a room, and was told when I showed up I did not have a room to stay in. He offered to refund my money and send me back home (great, thanks, after driving 5 hours, that is the best your can do). Will Never, Never, Never go back. What is the point of prepaying for a room, when they do not honor it.
