Hawks Cay Resort
- What's Included
OverviewHawks Cay is located in the middle of the Florida Keys on the quiet island of Duck Key. The resort is just over an hour's drive from Key West attractions and nightlife, and only minutes from the village of Marathon. Enjoy fishing, diving, dolphin encounters, water sports, kids camps, tennis and more at the only island resort that you can drive to.
great experience with kids and dolphins. food is good. list of activities for the day is outstanding and music in the evening is really romantic :)the downside is that there is no big swimming beach. The swimming pool is heated which is great :)
In years past I have stayed on a boat in the marina, in the main hotel, in a marina villa and everytime I would higly recommend Hawks Cay. My most recent stay was was in a Harbor Villas. Like the title says very disappointed. The staff was not very attentative like they didnt have a care in the world. The room appeared nice but was more like a bandaide on a broken leg. The sliding glass door required two arms to open and close. Tile in the master bath was loose. A cabinet door fell off the hinge and almost hit one of our guest. The back patio was done with tile that gets very slippery when wet and was not layed at an angle to allow the water to drain properly causing a slick surface. One of my guesg slipped on the steps and broke her ankle. Not sure she lost her footing coming off the tile or on the step so she is handling the medical bills. One of the oids was hurt in the pirate ahip kids section when a bolt was sticking up oug of the griund in the ship area. In the past I could have weitten this much about all of tye good things, I was very disappointed I couldnt do that this time. Oh well time to find a new place to stay in the keys.
I went with my mom, dad and 18 year old sister. (I am 24 years old). KIDS KIDS KIDS, screaming, everywhere. Do not go here if you do not have children under the age of 12. The main pool is constantly occupied by children screaming, the "tranquility 21+ pool" is fine but not centrally located and it plays no music so you have a bunch of people reading in silence. Pool is cold compared to the main pool. There is the "Lagoon" which is small and also occupied by children. Children's activities every night, then the resort goes dead. Most restaurants in the resort close early, bar is empty. EXPENSIVE- restaurants on the resort are extremely expensive. Went to their new one "Angler and Ale's" and the food came out cold at 9pm when no one was there. Breakfast buffet is $25 per person. There is nothing else on the island food wise. Nearby areas there are no decent restaurants. Everything is dirty and run down in the surrounding areas. Had to drive 40 mins plus to anything half decent, and it took a lot of research to find these decent restaurants. There is a $30 DAILY resort fee for pool towels, the resort trolley and valet service. You cannot forego these services/fees. The towel people are stingy about giving you a towel and require you to return it at a certain time at night. We wish we would have stayed in Key West. We drove the hour and 30 mins to Key West for two days in our trip. If you're reading this and stuck there now, go to the Dive Duck Key and do the Snuba- it was the only fun thing at the resort. Also, Sparkys down the road (off the main road) is pretty great food wise and drinks wise. Thankful we found that place.
we stayed in a room off the main building. Its great for children with a great pool and lagoon as well as a super restaurant just open to the pool. Lots around to visit and spend a day away. Not the cheapest but one of the nicest.
We traveled with children and grandparents. Everyone loved it. It is especially wonderful for children. Plenty for them to see and do and it's very relaxing for the adults. The resort is clean and the staff is very nice. It is expensive though. That is the only part where I see the advantage of an all inclusive. The meals here are expensive. You also must travel off the resort for dinner as the only options they have on the property are not good.
