Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina
- What's Included
Fantastic!!! The service was the best. Everyone was courteous. We had a awesome time at the tiki bar. My wife and I met Debra Johnson and Shannon at the bar. Debra is the food and beverage supervisor and Shannon is the bartender. They had a lot of energy and was very professional.. Had a great time at Nanking which is located right on the inter-coastal. If your in the tower, the view is spectacular.
The hotel is near the airport. I arrived there late at night and the man at the desk was not overwhelmingly friendly. I got rebuked when I asked him to enter my honors number ?The hotel is very nice and you immediately feel on vacations. There is a big swimming pool outside. The room was confortable, nice view. I appreciated the shower cabin in the bathroom. The breakfast room gives on the marina which is pleasant but the AC was running at full tilt and I was freezing to death there. It is a pity cos the breakfast buffet was good.
Although I booked a King room, I was told they only had a double queen available. I wasn't offered any accommodations for the inconvenience until I asked. The room wasn't the cleanest and had a smell. We just brought a air freshener for that. The surroundings are beautiful and if you get a room with a view of the pool or a good view of the marina, you will enjoy that. The parking rate is a little too much per day in my opinion. Overall, it wouldn't be my first choice to stay again in Fort Lauderdale.
This location apparently has high school groups coming in on a regular basis and I was placed (i.e. I did not choose my room) on the same floor in the middle of them. The noise was throughout the night and continual. This made conducting my business very difficult. Upon checkout, the front desk was not concerned.
I booked this property for 2 nights prior to taking a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. Arrival to the hotel was just after 11.30am, check in time was quoted at 4pm, I did email prior requesting an early check in. I was informed at checkin my room was ready, however i had to pay $25 for an early checkin, I told the clerk i would not do that on principle, it may be common practice for hoteliers to do this in the states, but it is the first time i have experienced it, (a fee for late check out i can accept) He waved the fee and gave me the room. we booked a corner suite overlooking the marina, no complaints on the room or the view, worth paying the extra for. The perfume smell they are using in the air-conditioning needs some serious attention, it is overwhelming, I would strongly suggest someone pulls back on the dosage :-). Finally the pool, best time to sit by it is around 6.30am, before it is overcrowded and people saving loungers by placing towels on them and walking away. I think the hotel needs to remind all guests not to reserve loungers by the pool and to also make an effort clearing towels from guests who have left. If using the pool, probably keep your head above water. Overall this property has potential to fix itself, Housekeeping, bar staff and the ladies who make the coffees in the morning are great. Front desk and concierge need a bit more polish.
