Il Lugano Suite Hotel
- What's Included
We just returned from 3 nts staying at 'Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal/Il Lugano' during my little girl's Easter break. I chose this hotel because I needed a suite type of room for this trip. I knew the valet parking situation prior to arrival, so there was no surprise. $18/day. Either that or you have to do street parking and feed the meter every 3 hours. Forget that. Who wants to do that during vacation?Upon arrival (11am), we were greeted by very friendly valet attendants and reception folks. Obviously our room wasn't ready at 11am so we proceeded to the pool to hang out and left luggage at reception. Pool is on a smaller size but it's nice and simple. It has a Jacuzzi and nice sitting areas which faces the canal. Lots of boat traffics but they are on slow cruise, like in "no-wake zone". So, it was nice to see and enjoy. But, there's a big construction going on right in front of the sitting area, across the canal, that is quite noisy right now. It didn't bother me but it seemed like it bothered some other people. The front desk called us and gave us a room at 2pm which was nice. We were given a room on 10th floor with an ocean view. The room is fairly large with full kitchen and separate living room, bedroom and one bath room. Mine had two separate balconies, one from living room and other from the bedroom. Room was very clean and modern. Balconies was large and the view was nice too. Kitchen is fully equipped. We made breakfast in our room every morning. They have maid service everyday. We did our own dishes ( wife didn't trust others doing the dishes) but I think they do that too, while cleaning your room. There's really nothing bad I want to mention about the room. It was nice and comfortable. Oh yea, as for the sofa bed that my sister slept on in the living room, it wasn't that comfortable at all. My sister was too nice to say anything like that but when I laid on it, oh man, I was glad I wasn't sleeping on that. But it's a sofa bed. That night we decided to order a room service because everyone was too tired to go out for dinner. You order the food from the restaurant downstairs(Aqua 307) but you have to go down and pick them up by yourself. They don't bring them up to your room. That was little weird. If you don't want to rent the car and stay at this hotel, you can do that. There are plenty of good restaurants and shops with in walking distance(like 200 yards or so). I think the name of the shopping area is called "North Beach Restaurants and Shoppes". We ate 2 nights there and the qualities of the food is on par with NYC. They have restaurants, wine bar, sports bar, bakery, live music places, Blues place,,,etc. Walgreens is there too.We didn't try the beach nearby the hotel. We drove down little south bound toward main strip and went to the beach there one day. There was plenty of street parking right next to the beach. Metered parking. We rented some beach loungers and umbrella from this guys on the beach. $12/chair/day and $20/umbrella/day. Oh well...Why I didn't give 5 stars? It's because of one thing. If you staying in the hotel for the whole day and hanging out at the pool and it's a week day, you have no place to go for lunch. You have to dry yourself up from the pool and physically go out of the hotel and eat at nearby restaurants or bring back food for your family. Their restaurant(Aqua 307) are not opened for lunches on weekdays, but only for the weekends. It was annoying. I ended up going out of the hotel and brought back foods and drinks for the family. It was annoying.Other than that, the place was great. Would I return? Yes!
My family and I stayed this past weekend and had a fabulous time. It was my wife and I with our teenage daughters. The room Michelle suggested was just perfect, the patio space was to die for. Enabled all of us to truly enjoy the wonderful intercostal views. The room was is excellent shape, we've encountered in the past other beachfront/waterfront properties with mold/mildew issues - no issues here. Room was very modern, kitchen space was a big plus. Excellent proximity to the beach and other amenities. The team was very attentive from housekeeping to the lovely breakfast service. I travel over 80 night a year to include Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons and it didn't disappoint. We will be back very soon!
Excellent place to stay, Great location. This hotel sits on the Intracoastal and only a few hundred feet away from a Water Taxi stop (on my must do list). While not on the Ft Lauderdale Strip or directly on the beach, it was only a short three block walk to the shore. Also within a short walking distance to several boutiques, salons, top notch bars and restaurants. Many of those night spots offer live entertainment and are some of the best that Ft. Lauderdale has to offer. Loved our suite w/an oversized outdoor patio (request the 6th fl. all units above that only have smaller balconys). Inside, the unit contained a full kitchen with quality flatware, dish set, glasses and mugs along with a full size refrigerator, a dishwasher, Washer and Dryer. This hotel provides FREE Wifi, and a FREE full breakfast buffet every day. It has a fine restaurant where you can dine while watching boats cruising by. I enjoyed use of their private, state of the art fitness center, yet extremely small & limited. Outside along the Intracoastal they have some seating arrangements in a compact area in front of the boat slips and a larger sun deck where several lounge chairs are provided. The pool/hot tub area is quite nice in a private location and has cabana style lounge chairs lined up for the length of the pool. I found all of their staff members to be very attentive, eagerly helpful and respectively polite. At times TripAdvisor reviews contain photos of damaged unmaintained facilities; you will not find that here. Yet to be fair to your readers, the hotel corridors and our suite did not reflect the elegance of their lobby. It was simply BLAND, with a scaled back interior design. No marble in the bathroom, no comforter over the bed, (only a duvet & sheet) … it lacked many other interior decorating items normally found in other Marriott facilities. The main issue with this hotel is the cost to park your car. The only option you have is to leave it with the Valet. The overnight fee can become expensive with an extended stay, as mine was. The surrounding area is totally covered with (3hr) metered parking (8am to midnight) and No Parking Signs. You will spot Agents actively ticketing cars at all hours, even throughout the night. I was at a near by Jazz Club when a band member ran out to his car when Parking Agents were canvassing the area.
Our daughter and her husband were married here March 25. It was perfect! Out of town guests enjoyed a wonderful getaway with a most accommodating staff in a beautiful setting. Chef Mark is extraordinaire! Everyone went above and beyond to make it a marvelous celebration for our families and friends. From start to finish, working with Talia, was a pleasure. She is knowledgeable, experienced, professional, and kind. We are grateful to all for a happy and most memorable time.
Very nice rooms, hotel, rooms and Staff. This was a stop off trip on way to an all inclusive in Dominican. This will tell it all . . . I could have spent several more days at this property! Nice kitchen,Great Porch over looking the inter coastal! great swimming pool and deck overlooking the inter coastal, Very quiet area but near everything Ft. Lauderdale has to offer. Will definitely plan trip back here in the future!
