Il Lugano Suite Hotel

Possibly the best RI I've visited out of hundreds thanks to fantastic views of the waterway, excellent service at the front desk (thanks Kristel), and a delicious breakfast. Property is clean and quiet, but within walking distance to the beach and great restaurants.
Stayed here with family of five, pre-cruise. One of the nicer RI's I have seen for style and vibe. Beautiful rooms, high ceiling and great views. It is a cab ride from main Ft. Lauderdale attractions but has great food and bar options that are 2 minutes away. Would gladly return there. My deep gratitude to Evelyn P and Sahira S for their hospitality.
When we stay in Fort Lauderdale, we usually stay at the Westin, W or Pelican. Reluctantly, we decided to stay at the Residence Inn. We were not disappointed in any way. I can't say one bad thing. From the desk clerk, the room, the breakfast, every item was fantastic. . The only down side was the weather. Wish the hotel could have done something about that. LOL. because the balcony views were wonderful. But the wind and cold weather would not allow us to enjoy. We will be back!!! thank you.
Let me start by saying we were unfortunately involved with the tragic shooting at Ft Lauderdale airport on Jan 6. 2016. A devastingly horrible day that lasted 12 hours where we couldn't get out of airport after evacuating to tarmac for most of day and then transported by bus to Port Everglades and then fighting for taxis to get out of there. My dear friend helped us by booking the next three days of our interrupted Cancun vacation at the Residence Inn intercoastal in Fort Lauderdale. We arrived with no luggage and exhausted. So for the next 3 days in the same clothes, we tried to recuperate after such a tragic day. Word got out and the second and third night we ate at the hotel restaurant. Carol and Cristina were our waitstaff and Mark was our chef!! He is a fabulous chef. Had Asian Chilean sea bass the first night which was the best I ever had. He and Carol comped us second drinks and sent us up to our room with a fabulous snack tray with prosciutto, ch ess, grapes, orange slices, strawberries, olives, vegetable sticks and hummus! Then tonight we had fabulous calamari, and fig flatbread that was to die for! Then another round of comped drinks and then sent us to our room with proseco, orange juice and hand dipped strawberries!! I am speechless! We were finally able to get luggage back today so we attempt again to fly to Cancun tomorrow for what's left of our trip,, but let me say that my husband experienced the worse day of our lives on Friday Jan 6 and these 3 people put smiles on our faces and made me cry in appreciation! I can't recommend this place or them higher!! The room was lovely and overlooked intercoastal waterway and non stop yachts going by hourly. Definitely come here and stop and see my new friends, Carol, Cristina and Chef Mark! You guys rock!! ❤❤❤
This is a modern, high-rise hotel located right on the Intracoastal Waterway...if you have a friend that lives in Fort Lauderdale and they have a boat, they can come right up to the hotel and you can take a spin up and down the waterway...you can get a room looking west over the city and sunsets, or you can have a room looking east towards the nearby beach and sunrise...you can't go wrong either way!...Interestingly, this hotel also has private residences...The lobby is long and narrow but very inviting, and when you enter you can see all the way thru to the intracoastal waterway...the front desk clerks were pleasant and competent...I was upgraded to a one bedroom suite on the 9th floor...I asked for a sunset room - looking west...The room was VERY large...it had a full size refrigerator, stove, a raised island...the suite also had it's own washer/dryer!...the living room was large with a large 42" flat-screen LG television...there was a work desk...off of the living room was a large balcony that went all the wat thru to the bedroom as well...The bedroom was oversized with plenty of room for luggage...there was a double closet in the bedroom (and another double closet in the foyer area)...there was another large flat-screen television in the bedroom...from the bedroom you could access the bathroom (or you could access the bathroom from the kitchen area)...the bed was a king-size bed - but it was hard!...too hard for me...also though the living room has desk lamps with electrical outlets built-in, the bedroom lamps on both sides of the bed did not - needs to be corrected...the electrical socket closest to the bed was so close that I couldn't hardly get my CPAP machine plugged in...on the other side, the wall socket was so far away on the exterior wall (behind the curtains) that my cell phone recharge cord could barely reach...The bathroom was large...long counter, but with only one wash basin - a little surprise there...and only one set of electrical socket...but plenty of room on the counter for all of your toiletries...the toilet and shower were in a separate room...the shower worked well...good water pressure and the shower head was high enough for tall folks...This is a WONDERFUL suite...large, airy, enough furniture and it was comfy...all very modern and clean and nice...functional also...This is definitely a Residence Inn that I would return to...I'd even want to bring my wife next time...very reasonable cost and near the beach, on the intracoastal waterway and near downtown...Thi is the BEST Residence Inn that I've ever stayed in!!!
