W Fort Lauderdale
- What's Included
Love the decor and opulence of this modern hotel. There are two pools but you have to get there pretty early to find a spot on a nice day. Our room was contemporary and nicely decorated with a very comfy bed and linens. They have stocked minibars. We got a kick out of the shower which had a glass wall facing the room, bit like a burlesque show. The parking is strictly valet but they were very prompt in retrieving our car. Very quiet and a relaxed friendly atmosphere.Centrally located on the beach you can walk to restaurants and shops either direction.
My review is a little limited, as we just needed an overnight place before the start of our Caribbean cruise. The W worked fine. Proximity to the cruise docks was good. A fair amount of remodeling was still going on making a few things, like access to the restaurant, a little inconvenient. I'm sure this will resolve soon. The room was very nice. Good bed and linens. Nice room design. Nice balcony too. Great beach view and accessibility. We had a $100 per room credit so we had dinner in the main restaurant. Nice jellyfish tank lit with cool blue color made a nice backdrop. Food and service were good. Breakfast outside the next morning also pretty good, but service was slow and unconcerned. The reception area looks good and we were treated very well. Megan greeted us and did everything with great professionalism. Nice lady. One thing: the room's bath enclosure was a little weird, particularly for the modest. Just a large, clear glass panel separates the showerer / bather from the whole rest of the room, and if the drapes are open, the whole rest of the world. Really leaves nothing to the imagination. But maybe that's just me. The hipsters probably love it.
The W Fort Lauderdale has become a place I know will always deliver. I spent more than 170 nights in Starwood Hotels last year, and not one property has come close to the level of service and comfort I've found at the W Ft Lauderdale. The rooms are always comfortable, clean, and spacious. The amenities are superb, but nothing compares to their staff. I am always greeted as family at this property. Jody Doyle is one of the kindest, and most professional hosts I have ever encountered in my years of travel. She remembers our preferences, and never fails to go above and beyond. I should also mention one of the managers, Bobby. I was there last year for my Anniversary, and Bobby went off property to bring my wife and I a special box of chocolates and pastries. Each time I return, Bobby greets me by name, and is always at the top level of professionalism. I may be required to spend nights in some hotels for work, but I always choose the W Ft Lauderdale for personal, and when possible, business travel. If you're looking for a resort above all others in Ft. Lauderdale, choose no other than the W.
Stayed there in August and was told theres a little renovation going on.... NO there was major construction happening ! Jack Hammering one day, Managers said they would take care of our tab for a couple of the days there and when we checked out it wasn't!!! Felt the Hotel was very dishonest when we booked knowing people wouldn't if they knew of the construction. Hotel said they would bump us to VIP on our next stay! Are you kidding i wouldn't go back if it were free!!! I will say the staff was incredible... From the valet parking to the Bartenders!
The hotel is beautiful: modern architecture, chic marble, the renovation has created a very visually pleasing and well thought out hotel. We loved the Living Room area that included sushi made in front of you by a sushi chef and a full bar (with a DJ on the weekends)! Our room was gorgeous. The views were second to none and everything was clean and inviting. Nice amenities and a fully stocked bar for convenience. We enjoyed the 24 hour room service. We loved this hotel, but what made our stay so perfect, though, was the staff. We were staying at the W under unforeseen circumstances, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and our needs and made us feel right at home. I cannot speak any higher of these incredible individuals, and I can say there isn't even a question where we will be staying in the future when we come to Fort Lauderdale.
