We just spent 4 lovely days in Fort Lauderdale at The W Hotel and had exceptional service. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of the action on the beach. The hotel was under renovation but they did a great job hiding it, I never heard the construction and was not put out in any way. I highly recommend staying here, the front desk was especially helpful in every way!
In a Newley renovated room apparently, with the new w hotel design. Which is maybe for some and not for others.Room and bathroom large however nothing like described on the hotels website. All white walls no artwork on the walls so it all feels a bit cold, "but apparently that what we where going for in a look". The room should have a CD player and a iPod docking sounds system, but had been stolen when I asked where it was? Both replaced the But some Rooms they apparently have finished but not installed all the items back into them including things like blinds or hair dryers or or and or form the general chatter with guests at the Pool where most people where complaining and swapping notes. Apparently a lot of complaints so the staff have got the patter and excuses down to a tee at the moment.The room air conditioning is very loud so if yours is ask and an engineer will turn up and sort it out.The glass mirrors windows and shower are all smeared.Water in the shower is low pressure and nothing to tell you what's hot or cold bath shower hose... no idea how to turn it on.Toilet blocked 3 times.If you want a coffee machine in your room ask for one. Generally the place was a bit of a mess as they are doing major renovations, however the bits they have renovated seam to have guests in and even these are not really finished. "Oh yes we haven't installed that" or "we can bring you that if you want it we have got enough of them"It's a room that no one how designed it has stayed in basically.I would suggest the don't let guests have a room till is is actually finished and check them before a guest uses it to make sure nothing has been stolen.Finlay you can tell there is a problem when the staff look even perplexed by the upgraded rooms or agree it's rather bad.It's all a bit hit and miss seams to be the general feeling from guests. The "really" comments and "oh yes that was missing in ours too" Expensive disappointment it's might get better ?! We will have to wait and see.
I was given a dirty room - when I lugged my bags upstairs I was greeted by garbage bags and dirty towels....the new room bathroom also smells of pee, but at this point I'm too tired to relocate. I thought platinum status usually gets you gift baskets not garbage.Also, the front desk staff was either completely ignorant or lied to me...either way stay away.
My stay at the W Fort Lauderdale was nothing less than spectacular. Check in was fast and seamless, Off to my room in minutes. Hotel staff and management went out of their way to ensure my visit was relaxing and memorable. I was there while the property was under going a renovation, but It never put a damper on my visit. I cant wait to return and have even more to experience from the W once the renovations are complete.
Starting with fantastic service - wait until you see the rooms and check out the Heavenly Bed!! You can't go wrong with this hotel. Any W is fantastic but these newly designed rooms are amazing!! It's very close to the beach, close enough to the mall that you can walk and the food in the restaurant was also excellent!
