W Fort Lauderdale
- What's Included
So I'm actually a local I live about 20 mins away from this hotel my friend was staying here so I met up with her and we decided to have a pool day first let me start off by saying the staff at this hotel is absolutely amazing super friendly and helpful the pool is gorgeous I believe it was renovated not long ago. The pool faces the ocean so that makes it even more beautiful even living down here you just never get tired of that ocean view .... I will be coming back for sure :)
We stayed at W Fort Lauderdale on our way home from a cruise out of Port Everglades and not sure if I should have been impressed. Not sure if it was the fact we just got off of Harmony of the Seas in Sky Class or if this hotel wasn't that great.I was very happy that we were able to get in a room around 10-11am and we got a complementary drink for the construction going on outdoors. We walked across the walkway to the tower and you could feel the construction dust under your feet but expected. Waited for a elevator to go to our room with a couple cleaning staff and they took the first elevator up, next elevator came and another staff member occupied that elevator with the linen cart. Third elevator came and finally got to our level. Room was clean and very nice and modern.Went down to the beach and was very crowded and was unable to get an umbrella. I feel that if you pay for three guests to stay in your hotel you shouldn't charge for a third chair if you offer complementary chairs included in your resort fee. Whatever no big deal paid for the chair and enjoyed the beach for a couple hours and unwinded from a great vacation.I am not here to nitpick every detail but that just set the tone for our overnight stay. Will I stay here again, maybe. Will I stay at other W Hotels, sure. We are starwood loyalists but maybe we will try the Westin next visit.
This hotel has a great location across from the beach. The hotel, however, leaves a lot to be desired. We paid a premium price for an ocean front suite. The suite's phone didn't work, the clock didn't work, the toilet didn't flush properly , the sofa fabric was ripped and there was old meat in the refrigerator. In addition, of the four elevators, only two were operating. In addition to a $22/day resort fee, we had to pay $20/day for umbrella rental on the beach.
I had room 1715. It had an amazing view of the beach and the length of the coastline. My favorite feature was the good size deck with a full couch. I fell asleep on twice at night, which felt so luxurious! I was there in April for a business event, so the weather was perfect - warm, but not very humid - so could sleep with the door open all night and was close enough to hear the waves. The room itself was swanky and current decor. I think it was recently renovated. Window in the shower that allows you to look at the view while you shower if you like or cover it up with drape if not. Cozy, comfortable beds.I wish I had booked extra time to spend at the pool It was packed in April and a perfect day to lounge outside. There is a view of the water from the pool deck. The 4th floor bar and adjacent area that we used for the event was recently remodeled and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The bar portion was a bit dark and didn't have a view unless you went outside. Fine at night, but the pool bar would be better during the day. Great customer service. I recently stayed at the Westin next door when there for business
My Wife and I had a staycation for Mother's Day at the beach and booked at the W. We were upgraded to the Mega Ocean View Suite on the 23rd floor facing southeast. The room was clean and bed was amazing. The service on the property was super accommodating. Drink prices by the pool were steep for what we got. We recommend the west pool if you plan on relaxing, east pool if you like to people watch. Overall we had a great stay and will definitely be booking at the W again soon!
