I had 2 rooms! It was my sons 30th birthday his room was nice. My room was ok a 3 star room clean comfy bed with an old rug & the air conditioning vent was very stained n wet so u worry about legionnaires disease. I realize they r renovating the hotel fine but u have 2 rooms & 1 room was nice. When u add the tax & parking valet each room was 276.00 a night u would expect it to be a little better. I had a reservation at cafe mortaranos which is like a 5 star dinner n entertainment my bill was 850.00 for 6 of us so I am not cheap. The elevators getting stuck all day & my daughter who lives in Boca got stuck in the elevator for an hour my review on hotel.com I said 45 minutes but my husband just said it was over an hour whatever she was a ball of sweat and panic. The hotel had the nerve to charge her for parking after she left the hotel. The manager Neil told me to my face that he opened the elevator & my daughter was not in the elevator seriously not very comforting . She was snap chatting her panic attack in the elevator. He said the fire department was coming to get her out after I showed him the snap she was taking & he did offer to call the restaurant but it's a dinner & music so they can't hold the table! I was lucky I had pics with the owners n I got my table but it was very stressful. Needless to say my daughters boyfriend ran down the stairs to floor 11 floor and with all his strength he opened the door no thanks to the hotel they didn't think to have someone do that. Neil the manager did give everyone in the hotel breakfast which was nice but after the night I had climbing 14 flights in heels was tough. My daughter ubered to the hotel the next morning n paid less to uber than to park for the day at the hotel. I talked to Vicki the next day she said she was a manager & she offered to give me the money back for my daughter'sparking for our inconvenience but she never did very rude dont say it if your not gonna follow through. I called Neil the next day to talk to him before I gave a bad review but he never called me back. Terrible customer service. The bell boys n bartender extremely nice. Bar at the pool ok. It truly is just an ok hotel. I'm sure after the renovations it will be nice but it's really not great yet. Location great! But that's it. It's very sad that customers are not their concern I am far from cheap I live in New Jersey and I own a townhouse in Jupiter and spent the money for 2 rooms in Fort Lauderdale instead of ubering back to a Jupiter. But my sub par room and aggravation and my daughter that one room should have been free. That would have been great customer service! I guess u live and learn Neil Should not be a manager period.
Soooo my family and I went to the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach for Labor Day weekend for our 2nd visit in 2 months. We enjoyed ourselves on our first visit so we figured it would be the same the second visit. Little did we know. Aside from the rude staff and poor conditions of the room, the worst of our visit was when we left our room on Sunday morning and went to Miami for the entire day to return to the hotel that night to find that a bag containing my husband's and son's dirty clothes had been stolen from the room by their hotel staff. We immediately called the front desk and they sent security who took a report. However the real nightmare began in the 7...yes 7 weeks, since then. We have given them ample opportunity to properly rectify the situation, however they are incapable of returning a dingo phone call and barely can return an email. They couldn't find our items, or so they claim so the hotel Manager, Neal Spivack said they would have their security supervisor contact me, which he didn't do for 6 weeks. When he finally did reach out it was only because I escalated the problem over their heads to corporate. Because of the dishonest staff and terrible handling of the situation by the hotel managers their insurance company denied our claim stating WE couldn't prove that the bag of clothes was even in the room, like someone has time to lie and claim a bag of dirty clothes from a hotel! The worst part is their idiotic insurance rep states that I should have used the hotel safe (for dirty clothes). I can promise you I will never go to another Westin again and I will encourage everyone I know to stay far far away from this chain, especially the Fort Lauderdale Beach location unless you plan on putting your luggage in the hotel safe!
Hotel is right across from the beach and ocean. Great location for getting to other restrauants and night life at other bars & restrauants. The front lobby and main restrauants are under revocation. Okay happy hour and appetizers. Great to fantastic show rooms. We had a fantastic room with ocean view. Only disappointment was the $30 a night resort fee and parking if you had a vehicle. Great customer service.
We were in need of a room for one night only. Now we wish we could have stayed a little longer. We love that this was the only Resort that had its own bridge to cross the street to the beach. The pool is real nice and the bartender made really good margaritas with a very good poor.
The valet team was a magic moment. Thoughtful and considerate, they we're extremely quick with all request.Front desk team was hit and miss. The attendant who checked me in was great. She explained all fees, which is key here because they charge a resort fee here. The attendant who checked in my coworker didn't mention any of it. As far as managing expectations, we were asked if we wanted a room with a view. We said yes but the view we received was of some air conditioners.We attempted to use the pool and we got an hour in and were told that the pool would be closed for the evening for a private event. I'm still confused as to what the resort fee was for!I frequent Starwood properties often but if I find myself in ft lauderdale again, I'll look into the W, which is a few doors down.
