Weekend Away

I just left the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach. My room in the South tower facing the beach was awesome. The view was amazing. The room was clean and updated. Had dinner at the new restaurant and service and food was excellent. Also, had lunch by the pool and that was good...wish there was more choices. Went to a yoga class on the beach and the instructor was personal and great. I would have given 5 stars but extra customer service was missing at times. No one offered to send my luggage to my room, when I called to order a taxi in the morning for my departure no one picked up, I don't mind the resort fees but the spa while wonderful was more expensive then it should be. The staff was friendly but there were little things missing for an expensive weekend at the hotel for me. I would recommend the hotel and will probably return. I was disappointed after an expensive weekend that the little touches that should be there were missing.

Good service, nice room, great location, but bad bathroom/bedroom design flaw

I booked the room through the Westin website, which was cheaper than both Expedia and Priceline. I wanted an ocean view room and this beat Miami beach prices by almost $200. Our check in was fine, the valets are super fast and the woman at the desk was very pleasant and helpful, offering to let us check out at noon instead of 11 (ok? fine, didn't need it, but will be sure to check credit card to make sure valet did not add on a surcharge). Yes, it's like $39 to park, and there is another additional resort fee (that I think most hotels have). My only beef with this hotel is the room design. It's a typical king room, bathroom, closet, bed etc. However, this bathroom had an over-sized louver "window" between the bathroom and the bedroom, and the door to the bath was also of this style, so there is no privacy! It's not a fake louver style, it's open, both the window and the door. Sounds travel, and there is no fan in the bath. This is a really bad design. This particular room was on the 4th floor right over the pool area and right across from the elevator (that's what the low price gets you). This was generally fine as the pool closed at sundown, the elevator only started it's "dings" in the morning around 7. Not the best room location, agreed. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, but the bathroom design flaw was overwhelmingly a negative. We won't stay here again.

Service

Amanda serves us every Thursday night on the outside bar. She is very kind and always has a great attitude. She is the kind of person that needs to be hired by every company. She is always willing to engage in conversation with us. Keep up the good work.

Will Return

I was scheduled to stay at the Westin for a night between flights. An active shooter situation at the airport shut down all inbound flights and I had to return home. By the time I was able to call the Westin it was well past the check-in/cancellation time. However, the Westin staff was extremely accommodating to the unique situation and rescheduled my booking to two nights later when my new flights were planned. When I got to the hotel the front desk staff told me that they had reserved the presidential suite for me. I didn't believe them until I got to the room. That was my first presidential suite experience and I have to say, I liked it. I liked it a lot. Unfortunately, I had to be at the airport at 6am the following morning so I didn't have much time to explore the resort but I will most definitely be back in the future. Every staff member I encountered was extremely courteous and seemed genuinely happy to help guests.
