Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa
- What's Included
The hotel was clean and very accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. In addition, Storme the doorman was so helpful and went out of his way to make us feel extra special and accommodate us in any way. He is a real asset to your company.
I had a great stay, the staff was wonderful especially Storm, who when I switched rooms, was able to recover some items I accidentally left behind. Awesome view from the 12th floor. The atmosphere was calming and I love that they had a sky walk leading to the beach.
We had stayed recently at the Westin Beach Resort and found the most exceptional personal service from the staff that we have ever encountered in a Starwood Hotel, or any other notable hotel chain! We were met with warm welcomes and sincere concern from the staff on every occasion that we needed any help. The amenities of the hotel were exceptional and the food was fantastic. However, the most important part of it was the incredibly attentive, and willing, service from the Staff. We were impressed with the interaction we had with the Hotel Manager, Neal Spivack. He offered to help us as he greeted us in the hotel lobby on our first day, and he followed up on that promise. We were in need of another accommodation due to my Mother traveling with us, and a change of plans. Neal went out of his way to make the change and were thrilled with the accommodation. We had unfortunately lost a wallet as we left the hotel. Neal coordinated with Robert "Bobby" Harris, Front Office Manager, to overnight the wallet to us immediately. Although helping us with our wallet was an excellent statement on their commitment to service, every interaction prior to that was an echo of attention to detail, no matter how small. Anzhelika, at Reception, took time to accommodate a couple of special services for us without any prompting. Maria, Anka, Gabby, and Leo, in the Sirens Restaurant provided wonderful service during our meals. We were so impressed we stayed in the hotel for every meal. Judy took a special interest in helping my Mother get her pool time, and that made me feel very comfortable. Danilo in Valet, helped with our bags and transportation as if we were frequent guests. We had stayed at the W down the street in January, however it did not have the comfortable feel that the Westin provided, and that was mainly due to the service of the staff. We will definitely be going back to the Westin Beach Resort sooner than we had planned, and we can't wait to return!
My husband and I stayed for one night at the Westin and here's what I found.Pros: - Located across the beach with a bridge allowing for a safe and easy access from the hotel- Our room was clean and nicely decorated, had floor to ceiling windows with an oceanfront view - Heavenly bed and pillows were amazing.Cons:- We booked a premium deluxe room with a king size bed. Upon check in, I was asked if I wouldn't mind two double beds. Really? Why would I book a king room and settle for a double? I insisted on a king premium deluxe room which we eventually got.- The hotel itself is dated and the layout was odd. We had to take an elevator to the mezzanine level, walk the bridge to the next building and take another set of elevator to get to our room in the South tower. It was exhausting to get from one building to the next especially when you forgot something in your room.- The hallways had a musty smell and the carpets are in need of refurbishing.- The bathroom's layout was strange. The shutter door and windows do not allow for privacy. - Resort fee of $35+ tax was a ripoff since most of what's offered should have been incorporated on the hotel nightly rate.- Parking fee is $39/day. It was not worth it especially since we only needed to park from when we checked in at 8PM to 6 AM the next day. We parked instead around the corner in the lot of Ikona Hotel for a rate of $20. - We had drinks and appetizers at Sirens. The outdoor seating was nice but the service was really slow and the food was mediocre.Overall, I wouldn't consider staying at this property again the next time I visit Fort Lauderdale. I'm sure there are better hotels in the area
The best part of our stay was Amanda our server at Waves by the pool! She was friendly, helpful, and very efficient! I was here for two days in between business trips and she made my stay very relaxing!
