Ala Moana Hotel
- What's Included
Although the host hotel for the recent conference I attended was The Prince Hotel, I opted to stay across the street at the Ala Moana hotel because I've always liked my stays there. I didn't want to drive and pay a convention center parking fee and didn't want to walk a further distance by staying at The Prince. There's no daily resort fee nor wifi fee. I stayed in the cheaper Kona Tower and loved my stay. There's a refrigerator and microwave oven. Housekeeping cleaned my room early and I could come back to a ready made room by 1:30pm. And for Kamaainas.....we get good rates. It's next door to the Ala Moana shopping center which is definitely a huge plus!...and there's a walking ramp from the second floor. Parking is $20 per day.
We went to the hotel restaurant, The Signature, for a birthday dinner. We were given a great table with a city & seaside view. After a few minutes, a party of 10 with 5 small children were seated next to us with the conversation and noise associated with a group of that size. We asked to be moved and were taken to a table on the other side of the restaurant, by the manager Leslie, with the same great view. She asked what the occasion was and we told her. The server arrived and wished my girlfriend a happy birthday. The server made dinner suggestions which we accepted. Dinner was SUPERB !! Excellent seafood and service by the server and bus people. After dinner, the server brought us free a free desert and so did the manager, Leslie, who came over to check on us. The second free desert surprised our server too. The is a great place for a special occasion and hopefully, the manager Leslie will be working and treat you like a VIP too.
Great Accommodation close to Ala Moana Shopping Centre, Walmart, Don Quijote Shopping for Food. When booking in we where a little surprised to be asked if we wish to purchase the starter kit for $25US which consisted of frypan, pot, plates, knives forks, spoons etcnothing was in the cupboards except two coffee mugs, no tea towels. When travelling we now take two chinese containers to use in microwaves, as there never appears to be any thing that you can use in the microwave .
Went to a conference at the convention center and this was the perfect location. Not a great location for people who want to lounge on the beach, but I actually loved it. It's a 5 minute walk to Ala Moana Beach which seemed filled with locals lounging, fishing, and barbecuing. Also had a small man made beach perfect for kids. It's next to the Ala Moana mall as well, which was great for delicious, cheap eats--check out their food court and the Shirokiya Village Walk. And, lastly--if you want to go to Waikiki, just hop on the Pink line trolley, and for $2 you're in Waikiki Beach in 10 minutes. The hotel itself was clean and had a great, inexpensive convenience store and Starbucks in the lobby.
For only $140 per night this is a great hotel.. the rooms are really nice and the hotel location can't be beat.. its an easy walk to Ala moana shopping center, all the restaurants and shops you could possibly want...
