Ala Moana Hotel
- What's Included
We are kama'aina and our visit this time was a mixed bag. The staff was friendly and courteous, especially the valets and bellman. We had to store our luggage and they were prompt with loading and getting our car.Check-in was a NIGHTMARE. The front desk was completely understaffed at peak check-in time as well as several hours later. It took us over an hour to get checked-in, and the line was longer than when we started when we walked away. We had to be at my daughter's performance and didn't even get a chance to shower before having to leave for the concert because check-in took so long. There was a medical convention going on that weekend so the hotel was busy. This is completely understandable; but what is unforgivable is that Ala Moana was not prepared to handle the load. I was turned off enough to consider heading to the Prince instead. I'm not sure if this is due to the new management or not, since the last time I visited, the hotel was still Outrigger. Please fix this. As a hotel, you know when you are going to be busy just by looking at your reservations. Be prepared.BTW, I only stayed one night and paid $250 which I consider too high for kama'aina. We visit frequently from a neighbor island and Ala Moana is usually where we stay without question. Next time we may shop around.
This hotel is not bad for the price as it is a little cheaper than a lot of the bigger chains. It is also located next to a HUUUUGE mall with great restaurants and tons of shops. That is its best feature. The hotel seems a little dated but the rooms and service are fine. It is close enough to the beach that you can walk there in less than 10 minutes. It is off the beaten path compared to the bigger ones and if not near the Ala Moana Mall, would be a dud.
My wife, her sister and I visit Honolulu twice a year to visit family and eat crab. Ala Moana Hotel has the best price for room quality and is usually our hotel of choice. Pagoda is an alternative, but it's always disappointing; not worth the few dollars saved. We've been staying at Ala Moana Hotel since the early 1980s.
The hotel location was by far the best. Quality of the services and room space was beyond pleased. It was a very memorable time we had! The club rumors down stairs was such a plus to avoid drinking and driving. The hotel store was very reasonable on prices and some items was also cheaper than expected.
Bad service's reason is New computer system problem which Front said.I think you need retraining your stuff. The customer need at least normal service even you have new computer.First time I can not get Receipt which reason is New computer can issue early checkout...
