Very disappointed definitely not a 5-star maybe 3-star

I'm here for our a honeymoon, when we came to check-in at 4 p.m. our room was not ready yet. We had to switch rooms. The wifi sucked basically no internet servive. They were lousy with service when asked for more towels ect. When we had a issue or concern, there was no one to talk to. This was definitely not five star service at all! No room service which I never had heard before. I had to go use the spa in a different hotel because there was no sauna or steam room. Basically if you are looking to get pampered and have a nice five star experience I DO NOT recommend this resort. We are avid travelers, and always stay in five star resorts and never had issues remotely close to these! When you pay five star price that's what you should receive I would rate this three star at it's best. Very disappointed to say the least.

Will be a great hotel. But Resort?

Spent 5 nights at the Alohilani spread over New Years. I know every hotel in Waikiki tends to call itself a Resort, presumably so they can charge a Resort Fee but when finished, Alohilani will be a great hotel with an excellent pool. If you want to see a resort head north to Turtle Bay.Check in experience was good and we were given excellent rooms much earlier than expected. But it was a little off putting to be then told to go back outside and walk a fair way to find the lifts. Luckily we were not a bit older because there did not seem to be any help available for luggage. From then on leaving and arriving at the hotel was via an ABC shop rather than the beautiful lobby. No doubt that will all change when the renovations are finished. Our second problem was with lack of signs. We understood that the pool was on level 5 but could not find it. So we asked a staff member and was directed to what looked like an emergency exit. So we asked again and discovered that the emergency exit was in fact the entrance to the pool. Once through the exit there was a sign saying that you were at the pool. The laundry was much harder to find. The $30 daily "resort" fee appeared to give little more than access to an excellent pool area and a very small cocktail served in a plastic cup, even in the lobby bar.The location is perfect for all of Waikiki. Rooms were excellent although the bathrooms are minute. The only outstanding feature of the bathrooms was the toilet which had its own control panel almost needing a manual to operate. In a family site like Trip Advisor some of the functions are too delicate to mention but it does double as a multi speed bidet.I am quite sure that when the renovations are finished and a little more signage added Alohilani can be rated as a great 5 star hotel with a wonderful pool. But a Resort?

Beautiful, Relaxing, Enjoyable, Friendly

My Daughter and myself had a wonderful time at Alohilani Resort. The professionalism and friendliness of staff was above and beyond. Barbi checked us in and gave us all the info we needed for our stay. She was going off duty when she saw us checking out and came over to say goodbye . Jodie was lovely checking us out. Abby was a great help to us with booking tours and I could tell she loves her job. Annie cleaned our room daily and we felt very comfortable with her . All staff were amazing and appeared to enjoy their work. The pool guys were fantastic. The construction at the front did not bother us and the lift workers were doing a great job. We were there before the new restaurant opened . Good luck with it . It looks amazing. We loved the wall of fish tanks. The fish are fed by divers at 1030am and 230pm daily

Deceiving and let down is appropriate for this place

The bait and switch tactic is lame, the hype about renovations is awful and annoying if your planning on vacationing here beware.Buffet is mediocre limited hours and food same bacon and eggs 3 days in a row.We reserved a king ocean view and received queen beds with a poor ocean view after contacting Expedia we were offer a king room suite at an additional $100 per night. The elevator wait is terrible with the construction is so unsafe. This place might have some potential in the future but in the mean time the burden to put up with it is not worth even coming by.The pool was coldThe shower water comes on and off The staff tries to make up for the construction as hard as possible, is just not enough. There are 4 stars hotels nearby that are superior with out the caos of this place and with all the amenities this place doesn’t have.My question is how in the world this place has 5 stars, and who do they bring to leave fake reviews, I was there and saw many people complain of the same problems, the staff has thick skin by now and after a years worth of construction they know how to deal with it.Also the homeless asking for $5 dollars outside the hotel is a awkward.I wish you could of warm us before arriving so we could decide if we still want to stay at the hotel, but instead your scam of hotel is a bad business tactic shame on you and the bad business strategy you have.Room 3954 was better after we complained but the damage was already done.

Renovation spectacular; this is in the conversation of the top Hotels in Waikiki

When I originally booked, I was praying that the renovations would be complete when we arrived Jan 30. It was very close to done. The lobby area is gorgeous. It is super well staffed, and the woman that handled us at reception was awesome (I wish I was better at remembering names). We were able to get into our room early and the Oceanfront was spectacular. We were on the 16th floor (17th is top floor of front tower) Construction noise was non-existent. Rooms are very tastefully done. I will somewhat agree with one review on the bathroom. It is a bit tight when you want to close the door. Sink area on left is quite big, but you do have to lodge in between sink and toilet somewhat to close door. We wondered why they did not change it to a pocket door. All of the staff were super friendly, helpful and professional. Housekeeping was great. Pool staff made a point to make sure we were comfortable and our waitress delivered our drinks to us in the pool so we did not have to get out. Pool is a very nice area - we only used in the latter part of the afternoon - and the sun was on the pool. Complaints about cold water are way overblown. We did try the brunch buffet. Again, the staff was awesome. Food was also very good. Great selection of breakfast and lunch options - along with complimentary mimosas. I'm not usually a big buffet fan, but this was tastefully done. Overall, I am a big fan. We have stayed at several top hotels in Waikiki (Royal Hawaiian, Moana Surfrider, Kahala, Marriot, Sheraton) and I'd put this as a high probability of a repeat visit. Beautiful remodel, excellent staff, and very convenient. Well done.
