Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki
- What's Included
This hotel is well located but the disappoint came in the rooms. They are very small and ours looked straight into another building balcony. I can say though the room was clean and serviced daily. The breakfast was nothing less than disgusting and definitely not suited to international tourists. I was disappointed that we paid the resort fee and we ended up having to buy supplies for our breakfast. The restaurant appeared dirty and the food was absolutely disgusting. Black eggs floating in water, cabbage and bread with no spreads just to mention a few things. They definitely need to offer something more edible even it was just pastries and decent juice. So disappointing and would not recommend this hotel to others.
Excellent Location however incredibly noisy... street noise and paper thin walls. Earplugs are a must for a good nights sleep. Rooms are tired, rusty mirror in bathroom, rusty brackets around bathroom light. Water damage in the bathroom under sink cupboard. Shower Temp not consistent. Aircon sounds like a 50cc Moped but at least its cold. On the first night i spotted bugs crawling in the bathroom. Only 2 positives Bed is comfy and location is perfect. Daily Fee has gone up to $25. Part of this fee includes a Daily Breakfast as the restaurant down stairs which is of Asian Cuisine not your simple continental breaky. For myself being Fructose, Lactose and Gluten Intolerant I was not impressed that I have to pay for these meals and cannot eat anything they provide. Very cheeky way for them to make money. Not worth the price at all. Will not be returning to this hotel.
I chose this hotel for its location and did not expect much for the price. However you need to expect the following, if you check in earlier there are no facilities. Facilities such as pay for an early check in, or as I doubt the hotel was 100% full there must be an empty room somewhere, so we waited for 3 hours to check in. After a 10 hour (no sleep flight due to turbulence) we tried to cope by resting by the pool. I tried to make use of this time by asking for the Pearl Harbour tickets I had booked directly with the hotel, I had called directly to make the reservation so would assume that they would put me on to THEIR concierge. When I learned that the tickets were not there and they tied to tell me that I had not made the reservation, I thought lucky I had brought the contact numbers with me, it turns out the concierge I had been forwarded on to was at a completely different hotel? How does that happen? Also the concierge at this hotel was not helpful at all in helping me beyond loaning me the phone. So with this disappointment I noticed during our wait I counted the growing number of people also in our situation (24) all with their luggage in the lobby. I had assumed (incorrectly) that the reservation clerk would serve us first (first arrival etc) when our room became available but as I listened to the multiple complaints of fellow travellers - just knew there was no chance. I also note with interest the exercise equipment that was outside and rusted (not sure if there was a room elsewhere) When we finally got to our room, it was on the second floor that overlooked the filthy roof of the lobby entrance. My first concern was security - the windows are louvered (the kind that can be easily removed and there weren't winders on all the windows so could not shut one of the windows). The room itself smelled bad, and the hotel safe was a remnant of the 60's - keyed and rusty. We were so tired we tried to sleep straight away (beds looked clean) but woke up 2 hours later due to the noise. The traffic is so noisy, so if you aren't a fan you might want to consider this. We also woke up with the heat, so tried to get the air conditioner going (note I said tried). The final straw for us was, a group of very loud party of women returning home at 11pm who were booked next door to us and kept up the chatter and laughter. So I made the decision to walk to the Hilton Garden View in the next street for availability. Upon check out the lady at reception wanted to know why we were cancelling. She said we should have complained about the noise and she would send security to check on it. It was interesting to note that the whole time we spent moving hotels, the security guard had not move from his spot. I was charged for the use of the room (fair enough we had used it ) but I can tell you the change to the Hilton Garden View was SO MUCH WORTH IT!. They were so friendlier, nicer and put us in a quiet spot and when I explained the mess with the Pearl Harbour tickets, they contacted Roberts Hawaii Tours and straightened it all out.
Loved our stay. Bright, modern style furnishings. Friendly staff. Rooms cleaned daily. Eco-friendly. Close to everything in waikiki. Good accommodations for couples, families, or individuals. Comes with buffet breakfast, ok but not traditional continental breakfast items.
We had booked this hotel through a vacation package, it was the lowest priced option available so I went with low expectations. We were in room 1112, front of building facing the street. There was some street noise but not enough that it interrupted our sleep. The view was nice, the canal on one side and the busy streets of Honolulu on the other. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was sufficient, definitely could use some updating. The free coffee and water station in the lobby was appreciated. We checked out the breakfast one morning but found it not to our taste. Lots of places to eat in the area.I would recommend this hotel.
