Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki
- What's Included
Location is excellent. Walking distance from the main street in Waikiki plenty of restaurants and shops and close to the beach. I don't think it's worth the price. We only used the hotel to sleep for 3 nights. Rooms were not spacious and it was outdated. Breakfast was included but was not so good. I think it was pricey considering what you get. Was not very well maintained and they charge $25 for parking fee. It's a lot. You can park for free if you find a spot on Ala Wai Blvd but if you can't find a spot there it's hard to park. And if you do find a spot you have to take the car out in the morning on week days (always read the parking signs!). I'd not stay again here...
Fanny, Diana & Kalei are always so helpful. Diana is always so wonderful when we are checking in, her customer service is amazing & she is great at multi tasking & keeping customers satisfied. Fanny helped me find something last minute. Kalei is the last face we see when checking out & he always has such a great attitude & is genuine when he says come back which makes us always return. It's perfect to get away for the weekend & very family oriented & they always go above & beyond to accommodate your needs. The rooms are always clean & it's a perfect location from the beach, nightlife & food pantry. The price of the rooms aren't to bad either.
Although it's significantly before my time, think Hawaii Five-O. Everything about the hotel: decor, furnishing, bathroom and shower, lifts, foyer is 1970s - don't expect the niceties of a Shangri-La. Having stated this, the staff work hard to keep the place tidy. Other things I disliked about the hotel were: 1) The beds - they sink in and are really uncomfortable. I stayed 10 nights and upgraded rooms (to a superior) half way; the beds were terrible in both rooms. I had back pains in the night and couldn't get a good night sleep. 2) The breakfast wasn't very nice, oily noodles, soggy eggs, etc. The breakfast choice doesn't change, so after a few mornings, it becomes very tedious. 3) The pool is more like a big bath tub, not even children bother to use it. Not sure why it's there to be honest. The hotel is well located, 3mins walk from Waikiki beach and close to a main bus route from which you can get access to busses to all over the island (although it's better to have access to car). The staff at reception are very helpful and the hotel is clean.
We were on our honeymoon and was given room 1200This is right behind the elevator-shaft = so you hear the elevator-cars rumbling by every day and also at night. But my wife kinda liked the view so we stayed in that room. There is NO shelf or a suitcase-stand / luggage-rack. There is only a tiny closet with some hangers and a cupboard under the TV.So we literally have to live out of our suitcases on the floor. And in the bathroom there is really no space to put on your toiletry = horrible! (see pictures)They charge $ 25.00 for parking per night at the hotel-garage (which is not much for Honululu), IF you are able to get a parking-space. So park first and pay immediately after that at the front-desk.We didn't like the breakfast = the breakfast-room is not very clean and if you are eating outside there will be birds and nobody scare them away. The variety is not very wide = it's breakfast with a touch of asia...
The purpose of our visit was to see Oahu and not to spend time in our room. So, we didn't mind going super budget in order to save money for the more important things. So, for a bed to sleep on and a shower it was perfect. We attended breakfast only on one morning but unless you are keen on stepping outside the comfort zone and trying an asian style buffet (did not look at all appealing) then you're better off eating elsewhere. The fire alarm was set off one night around midnight and the staff's communication as to what the problem was, was very poor. We were sent back to our rooms with no explanation just hopes and dreams that there was no threat. That was comforting..(not). I asked reception to check with housekeeping for an item we had that seemed to vanish and there was absolutely no follow up. It could very well have been our own fault but a follow up would have been nice.Rooms seemed clean enough.Over all, if you're after budget accom - its suitable but just keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed.
