Aqua Bamboo Waikiki
- What's Included
A somewhat dated hotel, that being said, our room was very comfortable, though I must agree with a previous review of the fact the bathroom took a while to "de-humidify". Our air-con worked well and we used our little screened balcony to hang clothes out to dry in private! The little kitchenette was useful thought it took two days to obtain an electric kettle..oh well, saucepans boil water too. We were advised to use the coffee machine to heat water, but it took a very long time. The staff were very pleasant, the pool area was very nice and the bonus of this place is that "The Lovin' Oven" pizzeria is right next to the pool. Beautiful pizzas boys!!!! Thankyou very much! A shuttle to Ala Moana is provided too, but we have to say, the location is superb..a short walk to beaches, shops and a gorgeous little coral museum across the road. Our studio room was 309...our son stayed in room 1104, a bigger room than ours.
My mum and myself stayed here from the 11/09/2017 to 25/09/2017 we came here as special holiday for my mum who is 80 in January. Before I start there is an $18 a night resort fee and a $50 deposit, you get the $50 back on leaving. This hotel is situated a couple of minutes walk from the beach but it is away from the bustle on the main beach road. The hotel is dated but is very very clean and the staff are friendly. Our room was tidied daily and had a nice balcony to sit on. The pool area is lovely although not very big and the pool is the size of a peanut but enough to cool you down. We could walk easily to the Zoo from here and to catch the local buses and trolleys. Everytime I went for coffe in the lobby it was all gone so only had about two cups the whole fortnight. A bar area would make all the difference to this hotel as you could get a drink in the evening and sit in the pool area. All in all a pleasant stay. The area near the hotel was a bit rough round the edges but we had no real issues. There were people at the hotel who stay often at this hotel. Would I stay here again? No I do not think I would. Apparantly there is shuttle bus service but we were not told about it and to where I do not know!!!!
We were in Waikiki for a business meeting, and they put us up at this hotel. The hotel is nicely located within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the beach. The rooms, though dated, were clean and had a kitchenette (a very nice feature). My room smelled musty, but I remedied that by turning off the air conditioning and leaving the windows open. The pool area was an inviting place to hang and many of us chose to sit there rather than in our rooms. The hotel had a pau hana happy hour one of the days during our stay. It was nice to meet other guests while enjoying mai tais & pupus. Free but slow WiFi. The parking garage didn't look as though it could accommodate all the potential guests, so we opted to not drive in the evening. Instead we walked to our chosen dinner location. All in all, a comfortable stay.
Older, dated, but clean and adequate. Staff friendly and helpful. Shower and lobby a challenge for taller people. Good location: off the beaten path but close enough to walk to shops and pick up places for tours.
Our introduction to the Aqua Bamboo was not pleasant as my wife and I and our friends travelling with us were presented with rooms that were well below 3 star quality. Our friends air conditioner did not even work. We explained our disappointment to the staff and they worked hard to help us move to other rooms. A layer of dust remained on our phone table despite the room being serviced each day. The A/C needs cleaning or replacing as both my wife and I suffered sore throats and congestion after just a couple of nights into our stay. The hotel is in a central location, but the area seems a little seedy. Our friends saw a man jump from a 1st floor room just next door to the hotel as Police were chasing him.On the positive side, it has a nice pool area and is a short walk to places like Waikiki Beach, The Cheesecake Factory, Dukes and all the shopping and restaurants you could hope for.Make sure you go to the Rock Island Cafe on Kaiulani Ave for a trip back to the fifties and good food. Also enjoy a great meal at the California Pizza Kitchen on Kalakaua Ave. The steaks are great.
