Aqua Waikiki Pearl
- What's Included
This in my opinion the Aqua Waikiki Pearl is a motel. Everything about it felt like a motel and since it was listed with great room pictures that was hotel quality my expectations was high. Needless to say this place did not meet my expectation since I had already paid the full amount upon reserving it months ahead it was too late to back out. The receptionist at the front desk seemed unfriendly as she never did once crack a smile nor had a welcoming demeanor. Parking was also a hassle, since the premises only had about 15 - 20 cars spot available and it was cost $30 a night and the only way to get a spot was to wake up early and be put on a waiting list. There were two other alternative; one was to find parking on the street which can be a nightmare or be directed to a parking garage two blocks away and pay $35 a night. The receptionist only gave me option one and neglected to tell me about option two. I overheard option two later while walking past the front desk with another receptionist. The rooms seemed old and it did look like they tried to update it but fell short. The rooms had ROACHES!!! I saw a few roaches in the bathroom and on the tables in the room thus forcing me to eat on my bed and disposing of it right away. Had I known I would have adjusted my expectation and been fine but the pictures mislead me into thinking something else. So book with cautious and don't get your expectation too high.
We stayed in the Aqua Pearl for a week. The accommodations are clean and nice. The location is amazingly convenient. We walked through the shops and restaurants and walked to the beach daily. The staff was so kind and welcoming. The only inconvenience was parking, but they had alternative parking which worked fine for us.
Not a horrible hotel, but avoid it unless it's less than $100/night or the only choice. PROS: Very friendly staff, good location, great coffee shop and also a bar right next door. Bathroom was clean, bed was comfortable.CONS: While the room generally felt clean, the carpet was very stained and old, and the sheets and curtains had tears in them. (the curtains had duct tape on them!) There was no furniture other than a desk chair and the bed ( and the desk/TV stand and fridge). There are only 18 parking spaces at the hotel so you need to show up at six am to try and get one for later. The other option is to park at their sister hotel two blocks away for $30/24hours (pretty standard rate for Waikiki).
The rooms were really pushing it. Hotel is dark and just gross. Stains galore. I don't mind outdated to save money, but this was a big mistake. We changed rooms 1 time due to air conditioning sounding like a plane landing and the next room was larger with a balcony but more stained up than the last. The carpet was concerning, we are sure if that was blood or red nail polish on carpet either way bringing a carpet cleaner in the room alone would go a long way. Parking was a disaster. Apparently you are lucky if you get a spot. We were not and had to park 3 blocks away at another hotel. Please don't make my mistake by staying here!!
Pictures great till I arrived hotel very dated and dark and small corridors. At first sight the room very dated but clean for the aged hotel. Front desk not very helpful. But Waikiki made up for the rest of my trip
