Our last night in Hawaii (AirBNB 6 nights Waikiki, 3 nights Maui - Brilliant) 3.00pm - Room not ready3.30pm - Queue for 35 mins to check inRoom decor circa 1960s, rather than replace noisy aircon they supply ear-plugs. But the most disturbing aspect was the fact that I could break into the room from the lanai (balcony) in less than 3 seconds with a butter knife ... and the markings on the door & loose fitting latch looked like it had been jemmied more than once ... not to worry, a knife wedged under the door had us safe for the night
We stayed here as we have used Aqua hotels before. If you don't mind sharing with the odd roach walking around then the accom level is good. The beds are comfy but the rooms are dated it really needs an upgrade soon. The staff were very good nothing was too hard, housekeeping staff very humble and nice. I would come again if they guarantee no roaches.
The staff, Jeff and especially Harry, were very accommodating and friendly! Also the girls were great at night too. Price was very reasonable but the location was my favorite part.It is a two minute walk to Marakume Udon (the best place to eat on Waikiki IMO) in one direction, and a two minute walk to the Food Pantry (the best place to shop for food in Waikiki IMO).
When I was looking to return to Waikiki, I wanted to stay at another Aqua hotel as previous stays had been great. Based on price I booked in here. To be honest When I read all the reviews I was put off HOWEVER, this hotel is awesome! Good reviews always mention the staff, and I agree they are all wonderful, they make you feel so welcome. We stayed in a Junior Lanai Suite, number 908 and it was perfect for us. The room was HUGE and the bathroom clean and had everything we needed. The Lanai was massive too and was awesome to enjoy a few longboards on. The hotel is right by the International Marketplace, and a really short walk to the beach. For the price it is perfect. There are heaps of food options nearby, and the DVD service was awesome too. I would definitely come back and stay here, it is so handy. We stayed for 12 nights (couple) and really had no complaints. This hotel is not the Hilton, or The Modern, and no you probably won't get as many Instagram likes tagging yourself here, but seriously, you are in Hawaii, who cares. My ONLY suggestion would be that perhaps they need to have more people working on the front desk, as often at check in and out there were long queues. If you are questioning whether to stay here, don't request room 908, or book a junior lanai suite and have a good time outside of your hotel room! Also, if you are looking for a great tour, go see Bob just down from Ross and he will hook you up! Mahalo!
We arrived at this hotel 2 weeks ago , I had read reviews so I wasn't expecting too much . Yes it is an average and old hotel , very basic , but close to everything . Disappointed there are no kettles in the rooms only coffee makers which don't heat the water enough and no real milk . We stayed here firstly for 5 nights and then 2 nights and up graded to a room with a balcony $10 extra a night plus tax . Room bigger but much the same . Staff a very friendly and helpful and rooms cleaned each day .
