Aston at the Waikiki Banyan
- What's Included
It is a very old building ,very ancient fittings ,it is a timeshare complex, dogs are permitted into the rooms, convenience store manager in the complex rudest you will meet, reception and office staff very helpful, the only upside, very convenient location the only two things going for this complex is the staff and the location, would I stay at this timeshare complex again the answer is NO
We rented two rooms through VRBO/Koko Resorts for late December/early January. The Banyan has a great location and the public areas are old but functional. Parking was included with the rooms. The elevators are very slow and smell. They do not provide luggage carts to haul your bags to and from your rooms. Plan to wash your own towels becasue its $15 for towel exchange and $70 for full maid service. There is a laundry room on each floor which is helpful. We had a bad experience with a miserable parking security guy that was extremely rude but that is likley isolated to that one jerk. When toilet paper, garbage bags , etc were required the Koko people in room 501 provided it easily. The 10th floor hallway smells like smoke. Not sure if smoking is allowed but its not pleasant to have to walk though several times a day. The doors to our rooms slam and squeak because they are old and the closers need to be replaced and the hinges serviced. They said they would have somoene repair one of the rooms but 10 days later no one has shown up. Its fairly easy to do and would prevent them from disturbing our neighbors. All rooms should have a drying rack in them. there is nothing to hang wet things on and you cant put anything on the Lanai. Room 813 has not been updated, other than the bathroom, but its in decent shape. It looks on to the pool. The hide a bed is horribly uncomfortable. This kitchen is lacking in utensils. When we arrived there were not adequate sheets for either room, even though we had indicated our needs in terms of single vs King beds. We arrived late and had to make due until morning when we had to go get sheets from Koko Resorts. No fitted sheets were ever provided so when they get pulled off every night you get to see the matress stains underneath. Gross and preventable. Room 1014 has been updated and isnt too bad but it has mold in the shower, the towel bar falls down if you put two towels on it, the interior doors dont slide properly, the bathroom door wont close properly, the king bed is back breakingly uncomfortable, but worst of all you are located on a street corner and the windows are single pane and you hear everything going on. The late night drunks , the big trucks in the morning, the Harley's that roar by keep you awake and disturb relaxation. This room's kitchen is well stocked with utensils, it looks not too bad and it does have a decent partial ocean view. Overall the place is an OK value for a budget conscious choice but there are a few fairly simple cost effective things they could do in the rooms to make it acceptable and cause people to return to these units every time. Firstly clean the mold, provide the right sheets, fix the doors, provide a drying rack, provide adequate amount of cheap hangers and put a decent mattress in
Our room is on the 28th floor and it captures the breathtaking view of the ocean. We had very comfortable one bedroom condo. Great location and only one block away from the beach, close to all premises, highly recommended
Good location amongst the buzz of Waikiki. The buildings themselves are pretty dated and I wouldn't consider the rooms to be up to the standard of a three-star hotel. Very 70s/80s-esque decor; generally bland. If you care about aesthetics or comfortable couches, this isn't the place for you. The rooms were clean and functional, though, and spacious enough (except the bathrooms, which were cramped). The $24/day amenity fee is extremely unfortunate but getting sucked dry for money seems to be par for anywhere in Hawaii.
great location and price if you are not fussed about this place not being modern .. 90 % of the hotels are old and this is one of them. Remember of you have a flight arriving any time before 3pm to try book the room the day prior so you dont have to wait 8 hours like we did. The pool areas great and the playground is great for kids under 10. Wifi in the room was the best thing ever ! Maybe BYO washing powder and shampoo conditioner and soaps as they pretty much only provide you 1 days worth , and toilet paper they only give you 3 rolls. The mini mart downstairs is very over priced. nice views however of mountains and beach.
