Run down hotel

Here is an honest opinion of the current state and condition of the Hotel. Please note we are not fussy and have stayed in many hotels around the world.1. Stayed with baby. Had great difficulty organising a crib as they can ONLY request one. Not confirm2. We had 7 mth old baby and our room was with metres of ice machine that kept waking up the baby when used by other guests.3. Rooms shabby and small with towel rack falling off the wall and paint peeling. Tiles cracked and dirty bath4. Room housekeeping enter without waiting due to no privacy door signs5. No place to have quiet drink apart from Tiki bar which during busy times very hard to get tables. They do not take reservations6. Staff not very helpful and hard to find when needed.7. Pool very small.Positives 1. Opposite beach2. Provide free Dvds3. Good nearby restaurants.Note: Very expensive for a run down hotel. Definately not 4 star.

Wonderful Week in Waikiki

Spent an amazing week in Waikiki with myself, my husband and my in-laws! Some Tips:-House keeping only cleans your room every other day unless you specify that you want it every day. -The rooms all have a mini fridge and keurig coffee maker. Housekeeping replaced our pods regularly, but we also purchased a box from the grocery store -The pool gets sun in the afternoon from about 1:30 pm onwards-The wifi is terrific. Got solid connection everywhere in the hotel-We cabbed from the airport for arond $50 US (including tip), but took the shuttle on the way back. You have to book yourself onto the shuttle downstairs at the luggage area and it was $12/person + tip. -There is a very weird elevator system... you'll see-We used the gym every day and it was never busy. A few pieces of cardio equipment and some free weights mostly. Overall this hotel is average. The only thing taking up to the next level beyond and that I cannot stress enough is that it is in an AMAZING LOCATION. It is literally 5 steps from the beach, right above multiple restaurants (Lulus, Starbucks, Tikis, Subway, Jamba juice, etc) and an ABC store, and right next to the zoo! It is clean and comfortable and all of the employees were courteous and helpful. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. For the price, it cannot be beat!

Good for a 3-star across from beach

If you're used to 4- and 5-star hotels you'll be disappointed. But if you want a well-priced, full-service hotel that’s only a crosswalk away from the sands of Waikiki, this is a good choice. Some photos make it look like it’s ON the beach, so let’s start by dispelling that misconception: south of the Moana Surfrider no Waikiki hotels are directly on beach. Public areas:-Street level driveway loop & lobby w/big comfortable chairs where you can wait for your taxi or shuttle. Bell desk, small gift shop, chain eateries such as Puck Express & Subway. -Check-in desk on the 3rd floor. Access via escalator or elevator.-Tiki’s Grill overlooks the avenue facing the beach w/both open-air and covered tables. Salad was fresh and beautifully presented, though service was very poor for us at lunch. Bar has upbeat live music in the evenings.-Small pool on the 3rd floor terrace wasn’t getting much use. It sits in the shade of the building until afternoon. Lots of available lounge chairs.-Elevators have a quirky security system which may make you feel foolish the first time you use them. Other guests who’ve been there longer are usually on hand to give you an initial training session and it’s easy after that.Rooms:-Website gives you a good description w/photos of the different categories. Our Ocean View Select (20th floor & above) had a fantastic view of the beach & ocean beyond if you just turned your chair a bit to the left.-Amenities include free wi-fi, Keurig coffee brewer, in-room safe, bath products.-Construction materials are pretty basic quality—formica sink countertop, plastic tub enclosure, etc. What you would expect for 3 stars.-The double beds are small, not really suited for 2 people unless they're children.-There's a good amount of street noise in this area. Book a higher floor if you're a light sleeper.Other amenities:Free beach towels and beach chairs

Adequate, but expensive

The room was fine. Spacious for 3 people with a tiny water view. The bathroom was very small and the hotel felt quite aged. Ultimately it was the location that mattered and it was in a good spot. We chose it because it was the most reasonably priced hotel we could find.
