Aston Waikiki Circle Hotel
- What's Included
We stayed two days in Honolulu as part of a round the world trip. Choosing a hotel on Waikiki Beach from afar isn't easy, but dwarfed by all Lego brick like hotels towering over a relatively overcrowded small beach, we found a quaint round hotel, "The Aston Waikiki Circle Hotel," overlooking the beach. We booked a room with "Ocean View," and well, there was a view of the beach and ocean, but the noisy construction of a neighbouring high rise building had certainly limited the view, meaning that it ought to be re-classified as a room with a partial ocean view. A suggestion that wasn't well received. To be sure of having an unobstructed view, book an ocean front view room.Apart from that the room was actually quite nice with a pleasant colour scheme. At the entrance one finds "Eggs 'n Things." Each morning with a long line of people outside waiting to be seated, but only a short walk away we found a "Cheeseburgers in Paradise" which can be recommended for breakfast. Looking at massive buildings surrounding "The Waikiki Circle" one wonders when it will be replaced by a new Lego brick hotel.
I chose this hotel because it was a great location and when I booked it, it was $170/night. This does NOT include the $20/day amenity fee and $22 for parking. Checking in: If you have a car, pull up onto the left ramp to check in first. Then they will give you a ticket to put on your dash and a remote for the underground parking. There is limited parking and if you don't get one, there is a sister hotel you can park at down the street.During my stay here, there was a filming production at Eggs N Things so we couldn't use our 10% off coupon. They hand out beach towels for free and you're welcome to use the inner tubes and boogie boards free of charge.Room: We had the partial ocean view room. The view was beautiful however the room is a bit dated. We were placed in a handicap room. Upon entering, there was a strong smell of cleaning products. I had to leave the sliding glass door wide open for a couple hours to air out the room. It's a bit dark - I feel they could use some brighter lights in the room There's a safe, mini fridge and shampoo and lotion.Bed was a little to soft for our liking. Air conditioning is a little old so it's loud but it does the job. Overall, this is an okay hotel. I would think with the price and the added $20 amenity fee, there would be a hot tub or swimming pool.
My husband & I stayed at this small hotel for 3 nights. We were very happy with it. We were not looking for a resort with a pool and fancy lobby, as we planned to sight see in Honolulu mostly. This was a great fit for us, directly across from Waikiki Beach. We spent an extra few dollars when we checked in and got a balcony with ocean views. The higher floors are the best. The room was small as well as the bathroom, but all very nice, comfortable bed, and wonderful views. The location was perfect for walking across to the beach, and only a few blocks to the downtown area, historic hotels, shops and restaurants. We scheduled a tour of the island just off the lobby, and picked us up around the corner. We would stay here again as a very nice , convenient small hotel with a great location in Honolulu.
Gorgeous views of Wakiki beach (from an ocean front room). Upper floors have less street noise. Beautiful views of the morning surfers, sailboats, evening sunset and the night lights along Wakiki. Just step across the road and you are right on Wakiki beach. It doesn't get any easier or more convienent than this. An ABC store next door with very reasonable prices, almost as reasonable as Walmart, for food, drinks, beer & wine, souvenirs, health and beauty items. A McDonalds is also next door for inexpensive coffee, light meal. They were filming a movie at the Eggs N Things restaurant at the base of the hotel, the week we were there. Evidently this restaurant is quite famous. About the hotel itself. It is probably one of the oldest, smallest hotels on Wakiki beach. But it has been renovated and is immaculately clean. This is a no frills hotel, but it is also the most reasonably priced hotel on Wakiki. The shower is tiny, but clean. Our room was small, but manageable and well worth the view every day! The mattresses were a bit too soft for my taste, but that is really my only complaint. There is no pool, cable tv or laundry. But you can use the smart flat screen tv to cast shows and they have a DVD rental by the elevator. Who spends much time watching tv on Wakiki beach anyway? We stayed seven nights. Our first day, we met a man on the elevator that told us that he and his wife have stayed every year at this hotel for their vacation - for 21 years. He said you can't be the price, the views and the location. That says a lot. This couple have been coming here for 21 years and are still satisfied customers.
Friendly, helpful staff. Really clean and well kept. Definately recommend! We didn't want to leave. And we will be back as soon as we can! Off home to Sweden and cold and snow😭. Aloha and mahalo nui loa!❤
