Our Opinion

A good 3 star resort, not too far from the beach. Rooms have separate bedrooms and full kitchens.

This condominium resort is located on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki, just a 5 minute walk to Waikiki Beach and Kapiolani Park. Enjoy the comforts of home in 1 and 2 bedroom condos set in a residential neighbourhood. An excellent choice for families.

Location: In Waikiki, 10-minute walk to the beach and Honolulu Zoo, 15km from Honolulu Int'l Airport.

Great stay, close to beach, great staff

Just spent a long weekend w/ the family in a 1 bedroom on the 29th floor, mountain view. I've stayed at similar places near this location (Waikiki Banyan) so I'm familiar w/ the location and type of accommodations. We like to board at the The Wall and this place is within walking distance to that, Rainbow Drive Inn, Ono Seafood, Zoo, etc.Yes, you get what you pay for. This ain't the Four Season or the Ritz. BUT, if you're looking for a great staff, quick 2 block walk to the beach, quiet, and good rooms, this is great. Yes, the hallways and common areas may be dated but our room was great. We opted for the mountain view and were pleasantly surprised. The pull out sofa could've had a more solid mattress but it worked fine for our 2 kids. Bathroom had toiletries that were replenished daily. Kitchen was well stocked and my only complaint would be the lack of non-stick pan. But with a long soak, pans were easy to wash. BTW, staff won't clean your kitchen dishes but that's not unexpected.Self parking was a reasonable $20 with in/out privileges. Spots are tight but our Honda CRV was fine.We had a 10 PM departure and planned to leave bags w/ at bell desk and just figured we'd take showers at the beach. Front desk staff gave us passes to use the pool showers to use later in the day, that was awesome.

You get what you pay for...

This hotel definitely falls into the "you get what you pay for" category. If you are on a budget and are planning to spend most of your days on the beach then this place would be suitable for your visit to Waikiki. The hotel building is a soulless concrete tower sitting a few streets from the beach, it's location is probably the most appealing factor as it's relatively quiet and away from the hustle & bustle of the main strip. The other big plus was the staff who work there, everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. Also, the daily room service was undertaken like clockwork and the place was spotless when we returned to the room each day.The hotel rooms are dated and a little tired looking, however they are functional and adequately stocked with cable TV, safe and a fully stocked kitchen perfect for breakfasts or preparing light meals. Some feedback from our visit (two rooms): 1. The ridiculously noisy air conditioning system, you simply can't have it on during the night if you want any sleep (we ended up having the doors to the balcony fully open in lieu of the air conditioning).2. Lack of a bar or restaurant was a real downside, we went to the pool area on the first day, however it didn't appear to get any sunshine throughout the day and was almost empty/cold/soulless.3. Hot Water for showers would run out daily if we used it for more than one person.Wouldn't return to this place and wish we had spent a little bit more and chose a hotel with some atmosphere that included a useable pool area, bar, restaurant, social side, etc.

Beware: Dirty, Old and BEDBUGS

We booked a week through Interval Int'l for our honeymoon. The Aston Waikiki Sunset looked decent online so we chose this property. THE PICTURES DO NOT MATCH THE REAL THING. The entire place is run down and grimy. From the front desk area to the elevators to the hallways, this place is gross. We were given a one bedroom mountain view and were NOT impressed. The room was very all over the bathroom, filthy floors, furniture was beat up, windows were dirty, walls were nasty and didn't look like they had been painted in a decade, utensils in the kitchen were dirty and the tv remote was broken. We were so exhausted from traveling from Northern Michigan that we just passed out for the night. The next morning (in the daylight) we really saw how nasty the room was. We asked to be moved to a cleaner room and were given a key to see another room. It was just as disgusting. We were then given 2 more room keys and decided that the 3rd room (4th one seen since checking in) was better than ours so we took it. This morning (after our 2nd night in the hotel) we woke up and right next to our heads, sharing our pillow was a bedbug. At this point, we were done with this property. The front desk offered to show us more rooms but we refused and demanded that they do something before we got back from our tour of Pearl Harbor. Finally, we got the Accommodations Manager to move us to a different property (Aston at the Waikiki Banyan) which is astronomically better. Overall, I would avoid the Aston Waikiki Sunset like the plague. The entire place needs to be shut down, exterminated and entirely renovated. The front desk staff was kind (some more than others) and eventually did the right thing for us so we certainly thank them for that. But, overall, this property should either be dirt cheap or renovated.

Simple Overnighter close to the Waikiki Beach and Shopping

We stayed here as it was not so expensive and lies within walking distance to Waikiki beach. We had lot's of space in the appartement. It was clean. The interior was not the newest, but had a well equipped kitchen. A plus are the little supermarket in the hotel and the outdoor midroof pool as well as tennis courts. One can also get movie dvds at front desk. Calculate on waiting time infront of the slow elevators.

Just off the Beach, close to everything!

Absolutely love the location as it is easy walking to the beach or shops or restaurants. Our 2nd time staying here and love it. Apartment style allows cooking with full refrigerator to give you options. Parking extra but typical Waikiki pricing.
