Holiday Inn Resort Waikiki Beachcomber
- What's Included
Pretty cool when you have Maui brewing next door with its bar and food and also Aromas cafe with a pool deck. You can then take the escalator down to the centre of Waikiki where you have beach access across the road next door to the Cheesecake Factory and the everything else at your doorstep. For those wanting to keep some of the calories off from drinking too many Mai Tai’s like myself a good gym is on hand also.We had our teenage daughters with us and we all didn’t kill each other in the room so was reasonably roomy and had all the usual bits and pieces you need. Would definitely stay back here and highly recommend for couples and families alike.
I would say this place is just “ok.” Not sure how they justify calling this a resort and charging you a $20 a day “resort” fee. This is just a basic hotel. There is a small very basic pool. It’s not beachfront or anything (not that we expected it to be, but again not what I picture as a resort). The rooms are not very soundproof at all. We weren’t even too close to the elevator but all night long I could hear the elevator “ding” and people talking and doors slamming. Would have been manageable if you could set the fan to stay on and drown out the noise but apparently it is fixed on “auto” so it kicks on and off continuously. All that said, it’s not a bad hotel at all; again it’s just not the fancy “resort” the website etc makes it out to be. It’s average. If I were to return to the area I’d pay the extra and stay at a real beachfront resort across the street. Our “fabulous view” in the photo.
So we requested an early checkin as we knew we would get to the hotel around 12:30pm however when we arrived we were told our room was not ready. We were told that we could however spend $100 extra for a room that was ready. Which begs the question if there were rooms available why were we paying extra and not allocated one?We were assured it was Seaview which we paid extra for yet you can see from the photos it certainly wasn’t a Seaview. The room was terrible and dirty (see photos) and right over the new shopping mall so very noisy with shoppers able to view us on the balcony. At check out our bill was wrong. We were over charged for just about everything including a room upgrade at an extra $50 a night ! If this is an upgrade I shudder at what our original room looked like. We also got over charged for parking (charged 2 nights instead of 1) plus a number of other items put on our bill. When we checked out we obviously challenged the costs and we greeted with a shrug of the shoulders and no explanation. All we can assume is the hotel was hoping we would not question the bill. The lady on reception was nonchalant about the whole thing. Pool area ok. Nice cafe but small pool gets very crowded. Best thing about this hotel is it’s location. Everything leaves a lot to be desired.A poor experience and considering we visit Hawaii about every 18months a huge error for the Holiday Inn group as we will not stay in one of your hotels again.
We stay at the Beachcomber over four nights while visiting family who live in Honolulu. The rooms were well appointed, beds very comfortable, beautiful views and very accommodating staff. The hotel is in the midst of the active life on Waikiki and a short walk to the beach.
This Hotel was Clean, Well Laid out, had a lovely pool and dining area. But the main thing was THE LOCATION!! You could not beat this in my opinion, Cheesecake Factory right across the road, International Market Place almost next door, Waikiki Beach Across the Road and down the Lane, Central Spot of Public Transport and Dukes Market right downstairs for all you souvenir needs. The room was big enough for 4 adults to stay in (although could have done with a bigger bathroom but that was our choice in terms of spending)Would 100% stay here again!
