Avoid Hotel - Poor Expensive High Category Room missing expected Bath in bathroom based on room description

Super Location is all this hotel has going for it, smack in middle of high end shopping and close to beach. Rooms definitely not up to scratch for an HI imho, this is not an hotel I could return to or recommend to people i know.. Neither does this hotel appear to honour the IHG elite upgrade program and room description appears deliberately spaced+worded to mislead guests into bookingThere was a balcony, but view if any was partial, room description Hotel Room Description appears to be deliberately worded to MISLEAD guests regards bath (or I got a poor room as IHG Elite checking in late at 9pm which should not be the case).I am educated intelligent English speaker.... description text is "This room also features a mini-fridge, coffeemaker, signature bath and body works amenities and a hair dryer for your convenience. "(In hindsight hotel is trying to use word bath as a descriptive of the free soap+shampoo, but deliberately abusing wording 'bath' to mislead guests to booking a room believing room has a bath ... what i call sharp practise)Had a 1night stay here in may2017. I had flown MIA-LAX-HNL and booked a higher paid-rate category KING DELUXE OCEAN VIEW NONSMOKING at Holiday Inn, versus cheaper lower cat room at lesser hotel, as looking forward to a nice long soak in bath after 12plus hours in the air.First room provided lacked a bath (was certainly not clear from room description), and in the end the only way to get a bath in my room was to downgrade my self to an entry category room. Seems as elite (IHG Spire) no roomspre- allocated early for incoming guests, not sure but checkin I seemed to get allocated whatever room left from a screen, no elite upgrade (though better rooms available)Both rooms I ended up with were small and , the second rooms bath was tiny, thank god it was a 1nighter only 9pm - 10am , I can not either recommend or return here. Whilst IHG Elites upgrade is space available on checkin for duration of stay, hotel had next cat of room for sale this night AND I checked in 9pm onwards.... I can't see a reason not to upgrade guest at 9pm checkin on a 1night stay, no idea if next cat room had a bath either, I think next cat was Junior Suite... I can only recommend one books new HIE down the road for bathroom of shower only experience, or if need stay in center of shopping area the cheapest base cat rooms here and don't expext an upgrade or bath.

Wonderful stay

My husband and I were first time travelers to Hawaii. The hotel is located in the center of all the shops and a very short walk to the beach. The hotel staff was very nice, pleasant and answered all of our questions with a smile. Our room was on the 18th floor with a partial ocean view...the view was ok but we weren't in the room as much, so it didn't matter. The room was clean but the room size is a bit smaller than a standard room because there was no couch. The shower is small as well, similar to showering on a cruise ship. Overall, I had a great experience but I wouldn't stay there again if i was traveling with kids, due to the size of the room.

Great Customer Service

This hotel is a block or two from Waikiki Beach. The location was great! Lots of restaurants and shops if you weren't at the beach. Located in an upscale part of town. The rooms were adequate - very clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. What made this hotel stand out was the customer service All employees we dealt with - from the valets to the front desk staff to the cleaning staff -- were extremely helpful. Has a small pool. We rented more than one room for our family and one room had a view of the ocean. Ours had a view of the pool. I would recommend. To note: there is a parking fee and a resort fee.

Excellent Local Expedia Expert!! (JAMES)

We used the Local Expedia Expert (James S) while at this hotel. He was funny and approachable. He gave us plenty of options to be informed without pressuring us in any way. Our trip was wonderful thanks to the activities we did booked by him. Thanks, James!

Not a bad hotel, but a concerning response to a fire alarm

Overall, we had a pretty good experience at this hotel, with a couple of issues. We stayed here for a couple days in July. Pros: + Room was clean, and didn't have any issues with cleanliness+ WiFi was free + Our room was upgraded for free from a standard room to a "partial ocean view" room due to the trip being on our anniversary+ Lemon water in the lobby was a nice touch + A small shop in the lobby was convenient+ The restaurant they are connected to had good food and beer, and wasn't wildly expensive+ While the resort fee that nearly every Hawaii hotel charges is a huge ripoff and a way to hide the real price of hotel rooms, the keycards from this hotel provide access to a trolley that only a few hotels have access to, and gets to a few nearby areas including Diamond Head. The trolley does not go up to Pearl Harbor or anything like that though.+ Location was overall good - sort of in the middle of everything and relatively close to the beach. + The room size was relatively large+ The room's sink was placed outside the bathroom, so it was easier for multiple people to get ready+ The people handling our bags were very helpfulCons: - No breakfast. There might have been something at the restaurant but that would've been very expensive. - Don't pay for a view upgrade - it would be a waste of your money. Our "partial ocean view" room could see a very tiny bit of water in between a couple of close-set buildings. I doubt it is possible to get a real ocean view.- We had requested early check-in on our reservation. If the hotel can't provide that on that day, then fine, but ignoring the request without mentioning it isn't a good way of handling that.- My biggest concern: at 4:30 in the morning, the fire alarm went off for the entire hotel for about 30 seconds and turned off. We tried to call down to the desk to make sure things were okay and didn't get a response, so we went downstairs. The employees down there seemed very confused about what was happening or how to respond. It took 15 minutes after we got downstairs before they even "thought" they figured out where the alarm was triggered from. It didn't appear that the fire department was called to make sure everything was okay, the hotel had a couple of security members who apparently were looking into it instead. As nearly as we could overhear one employee tell another, there was smoke from something in an employee area. Overall, the situation didn't lead me to believe that they had the situation under control or were operating with safety as a primary concern. They should certainly review their procedures and make sure that their policy is adequate.Other notes: - We didn't rent a car and therefore didn't park, so I don't know how extreme the parking prices are.
