Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort
- What's Included
Not that anyone goes from the cold Midwest to Honolulu in January to sit in their room, but this was not a room you would want to linger in. We arrived late at night and despite completing an online upgrade request form that was emailed to me prior to arriving, we were given a standard room on the third floor overlooking a rooftop. That being said, we kept the window coverings closed all the time, it was that ugly.Check in was quick and efficient. The room had a king size bed and a desk with a chair, along with another uncomfortable desk type chair. There was nowhere comfortable to sit except on the bed.The bathtub was way too tiny to actually bathe in. It was comical. Carpet in the hallways is starting to show wear and tear.We did enjoy the location in the heart of Waikiki. The beach was just across the street and there are plenty of shopping and dining options nearby. Housekeeping service was good and we appreciated the extra coffee we were provided. We did not take advantage of the pool or other amenities, but did take the Waikiki Connection trolley which was included with the resort fee and enjoyed it. If location is your main concern, this will fit the bill. But if you are looking for something a little more upscale, keep looking.
Has undergone a bit of a makeover since last stay. Rooms are much fresher. The reason this hotel gets such a high rating is because of its location in the main drag - Kalakaua Avenue.Next to Macy’s. Across from Cheesecake Factory. In the centre of street for shopping.Managed to get a slightly earlier check in which was great.Room had both a mountain and slight ocean view. Could see The Royal Hawaiian Hotel as well. Good size room with comfy bed and furniture.Bathroom was tiny. Only a shower, toilet and small vanity. Had to rearrange top of vanity to accommodate makeup and toiletries bags. Taking up a large amount of space was the tea/coffee making facilities. Could/should be housed on desk or TV cabinet. Fridge was under the vanity. Good quality body lotion and shampoo. Divine coconut and lime scent.Small pool and jacuzzi. More shade needed.Jimmy Buffets has gone. In its place is a lovely café.Maui Brewing Company taking over the space of JBs restaurant. Renovations occurring during our stay. Very noisy around the pool. Not relaxing so only went once. Pool was also filthy. White chunks and small beads of polystyrene floating in the pool. Needed either a pool boy scooping it out or an automatic pool cleaner (Kreepy Krawler or Barracuda) going full time.Biggest negative to this hotel is the lifts. There are a few but they are so sloooooow! Needs to be improved. The other negative is the resort fee. What do you get for your money? Not much. A small water proof bag and some vouchers. Not used. Bit of a rip off.Other than the few negatives, would recommend the hotel. Have stayed before. Probably will stay again.
James was quite the expert, setting up our zipline adventure at climb works and answering any questions we had regarding the local area (which were many and varied). His jovial demeanor and refreshing honesty put us immediately at ease. Our zipline adventure was fantastic, the driving route he suggested was filled with breathtaking views. We greatly appreciated James's help throughout our stay at the Holiday Inn. The hotel itself was clean, supplied beach towels and had excellent room/guest service. The location unfortunately was rather crowded. If you like the city type feel than this location is probably perfect.
You will be happy to pick this hotel it is in the heart of all the action.Easy to not have a car. Restaurants all really close. Across from beach and Macy downstairs in cause you forgot something. We where so happy with it.Beach towel fresh each day.
Spent two nights here over Thanksgiving as part of a cruise package. Our room was on the second floor and the lanai was at roof level with an alley view. Those are my only complaints. The room was clean and comfortable and the front desk staff were helpful enough. The location was EXCELLENT! Macy's was on the ground floor and in the alley alongside the building was a local shopping area where you could pick up souvenirs. On the main street out front was plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking diistance and the beach was conveniently located across the street. We spent time in the pool area which was clean and had plenty of lounge chairs. There is a coffee shop and convenience store right next to the main desk.
