Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa
- What's Included
The Regency Waikiki is a typicallyexcellent 5 starHyatt hotel, located right across the street from the beach.
Location: Across from Waikiki Beach.
We had a great stay once again. It was our 6th year in a row. Our check in was confusing and I won't go into detail except to say there was a communication problem with the World of Hyatt reservationist. I told her it was our anniversary and our 6th year in a row. She put me on hold for a couple minutes and told me she reached out to the hotel and they were upgrading us to the Recency Club complimentary. When we checked in there was no record of that. Of course I had no documentation of a phone call. My husband and I were granted temporary access to the Club as our room was not ready. Mark in the Club took care of us and we were upgraded. After 1 night in a temporary room we were given a lovely room in the Diamond Head tower as we had requested. Originally we were put in the Ewa tower. In the past we have always stayed in the Diamond Head Tower. So all turned out well and our loyalty to Hyatt remains intact in spite of some stressful moments. The front desk does not know our relationship with the hotel and our loyalty but the awesome staff in the Recency Club does. They will take care of all needs and iron out any kind of issue to the best of their ability. Kudos to Satomi. Michelin, Mark, and the entire crew for a job well done with warmth and Grace. We will be back as usual in 2018. Hyatt Regency is the only place to stay in Waikiki. From the Ayers
We stayed here as part of a Colette Tour group. The hotel is in a perfect location right on the beach. It has a hustle and bustle buzz about it and has all the amenities you would possibly need, with a swimming pool, great gym, fantastic eateries and lots of shops. Our room on the 10th floor was clean and spacious. However the lifts are being modernised at the moment and sometimes we had a very long wait. The staff are fantastic here.
Having stayed at several Hyatt Hawaiian properties, I was not impressed with how this hotel is aging. Although, the rooms were renovated with modern conveniences, the public areas were dated. The hotel caters to large tour groups and has more of a "convention" city feel than a resort feel. I must commend the front desk staff. Upon check-in, their computer system went down and the front desk was relocated. They handled a very busy Sunday check-in well.
My brother and I stayed her for our first trip to Oahu. We liked the proximity to the beach, shops and restaurants, and in that respect, Hyatt Regency Waikiki does not disappoint. The staff is extremely friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the oceanfront view was incredible. One of my favorite parts of our stay was sitting on the terrace each morning and watching the surfers out on Waikiki beach. We were told ahead of our stay that the elevators were being renovated, so we weren't surprised by the occasional delay (or packed elevator) while waiting to get up to or down from our room. It wasn't ideal, but at the same time, the longest wait wasn't really that long, and it helped that they had service elevators available during the daytime hours. My brother had a blast laying by the pool and chatting up the staff in the evenings. The Shor breakfast buffet offers a ton of food (eggs, bacon, fruits, salads, breads, cereal, juice, etc...), and for the price (about $35/person for the full buffet), you really need to show up with an appetite if you're going to make the most of it. The cook who was running the omelette bar was amazing (he makes like 5 at once!). Even if you're not trying an omelette, swing by and watch him work. Also, I'm gluten free and our server was able to bring me a couple of GF bread options to go with my breakfast, so that was nice. If you're not looking for a major breakfast, Shor has a continental option that includes cold foods, and there's also a great coffee place (Kai Coffee) downstairs that offers some sandwiches and pastries if you're looking for something lighter. There are also ABC Stores everywhere, that sell snacks and some food and drink options to bring back to the room.We had lunch at the SWIM bar a couple of times. Great food, drinks and service there. As mentioned, the location was our main reason for choosing this hotel, and that really worked out for us. Not only were we just across the street from the beach, but there's also plenty of shopping and food within walking distance. It's also an easy walk to The Bus if you're looking to venture out into the island. We took the Bus to Pearl Harbor. ($2.50/person each way, and about an hour ride each way). Hyatt Regency Waikiki is a pretty big hotel, with a lot of people. That said, it's well-staffed to handle its occupancy, and every staff member we encountered offered a smile and a very friendly attitude. I would stay here again if I ever return to Waikiki
We recently stayed at this hotel for four nights. It is in a fantasist location and the service is great. We stayed in an ocean front room and the view was lovely. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and the hotel gave us a very nice gift basket. My biggest complaint is that the rooms were tired and need to be renovated. Our first room was on the 10th floor and it was really bad. Scuffed paint on the walls, stained carpets, a rip in the furniture fabric, stains on the furniture, etc. We complained to the front desk and they were completely booked that night but moved us to another room the next day. This room was on the 26th floor and a little better, but still needed some TLC. The view was better on the higher floor because we could also see Diamond Head. My other complaint was that the parking garage was a nightmare. We were planning to do self parking during our stay but after driving in the tight garage one time we decided to do valet instead (for $10 more a night plus tip). The pool area was fine but nothing special. Overall I would say it is an average hotel but could be really nice if the rooms were given some attention.
