OverviewMaile Sky Court is ideal for budget conscious couples. Located at the entrance to Waikiki on Kuhio Avenue, 3 blocks from the beach. Area shopping includes Nike Town and the Banana Republic Flagship store across the street.
Maile Sky Court (which will soon be Holiday Inn Express) is my favorite hotel every time I travel to Hawaii. I stayed in the hotel first week of September 2916 (for 7 nights) and although the place is being renovated, I was amazed of how they have transformed the floors and the rooms, modern-wise -- embracing the rise and usage of modern technology -- the rooms are different in style from the past years when I annually stay and use the rooms. I will not be surprised by the time I go back next year that the entire hotel will encompass an absolutely state-of-the-art and cutting edge modern-day hotel. The good thing about staying in the hotel - the pleasure/trip arrangements are conveniently located on the ground floor (Expedia). Most of the activities I do everyday are accessible from the hotel (breakfast, shopping, dining, beach, happy hours, night clubbing, etc.) - walking distance and transportation is handy and manageable. Anyway, I'll be back again summer next year so I can't wait to see the modern look of Holiday Inn Express (aka or formerly Maile Sky Court).
The rooms are small but very clean and very nice and modern. The resort fees were very reasonable especially in comparison to other ones we have paid. Parking was $35 a night and we would have opted to utilise parking around the area for $15 or free on the canal if we were staying for longer. We were upgraded to a larger bed and higher floor when we mentioned it was our honeymoon without asking. Great service, nice hotel at a reasonable price. There was no cutlery or dining equipment in the standard rooms however so eat out or bring along plastic cutlery.
We just stayed again at Maile Sky Court, for my Wife's Birthday. We are returning customers to the hotel, and even though some areas were closed for remodeling (which I was told when making reservations) it is still our favorite Local Waikiki Hotel. The room upgrades are beautiful and comfortable. USB ports and outlets on both nightstands, bathroom, showers, closets, and refrigerators all brand new. This is the BEST central location for visitors, located at the middle of Waikiki, so you can walk to anything in Waikiki. We will always be returning customers.
My wife and I visited Waikiki for a friend's wedding recently and booked two nights at Maile Sky. The staff was very polite and quite helpful overall. The hotel is pretty big, and seemed to be pretty full (outside of floors under renovation). It is located near the Ala Wai Canal, and probably about a 15 minute walk to Royal Hawaiian Center and the beach, very doable. The room we stayed in was on the 43rd floor (out of 44 total floors), and while the room was compact, it was very clean and had a lot of nice touches. Newly renovated, so quite clean and modern. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was really nice, with a glass shower and decent water pressure. The A/C was pretty powerful, and there was a flat-screen TV on the wall, alarm clock with universal USB charging cables, hair dryer, and iron. Good space to hang clothes, and a bench for suitcases. We also had a half-height fridge and microwave, which was handy. The hotel has a pool and some other amenities on the lower floors (which are all closed for renovations). Even though we stayed on the 43rd floor, the elevators were pretty quick and we didn't have to wait very long (though we almost always shared with others). They have three elevators serving the lower floors, and three for the upper floors only.We rented a car, and overnight parking at the hotel was $26/night. You can go in and out as much as you want, but the relatively small garage was full both nights, and the front desk warned us that we may not be able to park if there's no space (in which case they refund the $26 for that day). We were able to park inside, but a friend of ours had to park four blocks away...The key is that they are doing major renovations right now, which will not end anytime soon. Their main entrance is covered up on one side, you will see workmen going up and down the elevators, and if you want to spend quiet time in your room during the day, forget about it. But the good news is that people go to Waikiki to spend the day outside, so it's not a problem for most.I really like this hotel, and would love to come back. It will be even better after all the construction is done. Recommend it for those looking for a good value near enough to all the stuff at Waikiki.
We stayed in here in May of 2012 for a week. It was a decent hotel, affordable at the time. Its about a block away from the beach. My husband absolutely loved the restaurant that was in the hotel. Everyone was very friendly and we had a great experience. I would recommend if you're in a budget. It is not fancy but has all your necessities.
