Maile Sky Court
- What's Included
OverviewMaile Sky Court is ideal for budget conscious couples. Located at the entrance to Waikiki on Kuhio Avenue, 3 blocks from the beach. Area shopping includes Nike Town and the Banana Republic Flagship store across the street.
It's a decent hotel in Waikiki for a good price. The hotel is going through a lot of renovations right now. The room we had (37th floor), was updated and very nice. When we checked in we were given an upgrade to a room with a partial ocean view. But there's still a lot to be done to other areas of the hotel and the lobby, elevators, hallways, etc can look a bit run-down. It's about 10-15 minute walk to the center of Waikiki or the beaches. The buses and trolleys all run outside. Parking is $30/night, but if you're lucky you can grab street parking outside for free. The resort fee of $10/night is very reasonable. We also had free WiFi that worked in the rooms which was unexpected. Must be a new thing. We were not impressed with the room cleaning. The maid didn't actually clean anything.. just made the bed. And the "information" booth in the lobby is just full of timeshare people. Agree with what others have said about the air conditioner location and noise. You can't have it on at night and the room gets really warm.I can only give 3 or 4 stars on Trip Advisor, but if I could I would give 3.5. Once the renovations are completely done it'll be a lot better. If you don't like walking you should stay more central.
I'm not usually the person who writes a review but decided to leave a short comment because I was so worried about the hotel before I arrived here. But overall, the hotel was much better than I had originally thought, especially in terms of cleanliness. I think that's because this hotel is being renovated. In addition, the location was very good, too!
Hotel has been refurbished so is quite nice in the rooms. However lobby area still under reservations. Hotel it within walking distance on Waikiki and beach. Also close to ala Moana shopping centre which I don't recommend. Better and cheaper to shop in Waikiki. Bus stop close by approx 2 blocks to go to the airport. If u take a bus doesn't matter where u go it only costs 2.50. U can't get change from bus driver so give correct fare. Also they don't like large bags to be carried on bus. However they let me take on this occasion. Takes about 50mins to airport. Arrived hotel early about 8am. Got a early check on complimentary and a free upgrade to partial ocean view. Thank You very much to guest services for that. Last night of the stay at about midnight heard a guy screaming out for someone to call the cops and call security. So I called security and she quickly came up to the floor to check it out. Then they called the cops. Lady said she let the guy in who she didn't know so he can use the toilet. Then he touched her supposedly. Umm I don't think so. Who would let someone in to use bathroom. Me thinks she was a escort. Any way was a bit of excitement for the last night. I definitely recommend the hotel. It's great if u are on a budget.
The lady who checked us in and out was really lovely and helpful. The room was basic but fine, except for the air conditioner which was SO loud. we had to choose weather to be boiling hot or listen to the noisy air conditioning.
I left my macbook charged and opened the lid because i was uploading my photos. When I came back after a brielf walk outside, the computer was unplugged and the lid was closed! Worse, my computer will not turn back on. I called the housekeeping supervisor. He said he would talk to the maid who cleaned my room. He called back shortly and said that the maid never touched my computer! Ok, then was it some sort of ghost who did this then? As of now, the issue has not been resolved - no one is willing to take responsibility. However, I will definitely escalate this to the management level. As for the room, it was pretty nice but minimal. This is partly because it has just been renovated. Don't expect any other amenities until December, as they are renovating half of the hotel and none of the facility is open. Also, because of the renovation, I can hear the construction noise as early as 8 in the morning. It didn't help that the maid also started cleaning very early and kept knocking on my door even me having told her to come back later or to simply skip cleaning my room. The front desk is hit or miss. The lady who checked me in the first day was very nice and professional. However, one of the staff apparently had an attitude problem. I inquired him about checking out very early in the morning. I told him that I would check out at "4 am, tonight." I know I was supposed to say 4 am tomorrow's morning, but I am used to saying it the other way, given that's how it is said in my native tongue. Anyways, the staff "corrected" me using extremely condescending tone, twice. Then he implied that my concern about checking out in the morning was stupid, given that there will always be someone at the front desk. He ended by saying "easy, see?" Well, if you travel pretty extensively, you will know that every hotel has all kinds of policies and you CANNOT assume anything. All in all, a serviceable hotel with poor management. You can stay here but please expect inconveniences and occasionally rude staff.
