Ohana Waikiki East
- What's Included
Hotel is well located, close to the beach, around the corner from a grocery store, has a coffee shop in the lobby with great muffins and more. the whirlpool was great and the pool is good but the only way in and out is a ladder! The resort fee covers your beach and pool towels, wifi , daily newspaper, coffee and tea with coffee/tea maker in the rooms and there is microwave in the lounge area on the main floor. There is a coin laundry as well in the hotel.
Conveniently located in Waikiki with good service. Has a small fridge in room, safe, iron. ABC store across street. Close to shops and restaurants. There is a hands free water fountain near the lobby desk where you can refill your water bottle. Seems to have a water filter as it doesn't have that metallic taste.
We stayed here for 3 days after our cruise....2 blocks from the beach and very centrally located. Extremely reasonable prices...older hotel but kept up. 12:00 check-out was a nice bonus. There was also a large waiting room to sit in if you were there early and your room wasn't ready...a great touch. Our room was next to the elevators so a bit noisy but the earplugs helped! Small balcony overlooking pool was nice at day's end! Bed was comfortable and rooms wee clean... wonderful budget choice. Picture is of pool from our balcony.
Ohana Waikiki East Hotel was such a treat for our 4 night stay. We'd come off a cruise ship, skinny little beds, and were delighted to find 2 singles in our room that would easily have slept 2 to a bed. The rooms were large, had a balcony, big TV, Wifi, Fridge and a great big bathroom. Staff were very friendly (Aloha!), very efficient and knew all the best places in Waikiki to make the dollar go further. I'd go back there again in a heartbeat.
The hotel is pleasant enough but does need updating in parts. We travelled from the UK after staying in San Fran for a few days then going onto Vegas. We travelled to Hawaii to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and to renew our vows and also to celebrate my 50th birthday and stayed for 11 nights. When we arrived they gave us a room on the 9th floor overlooking a parking lot...mmmm nice!. After a few days of being woken up at approx 4.30am in the morning by cars entering the parking lot and going over speed bumps that would clank I asked to be moved and in fairness they did. When I booked this hotel I also advised the travel company I booked of the celebration and any requests. I know requests can't be guaranteed but thought the hotel might have said congratulations on renewing your vows or happy 50th birthday but nothing so yes was a little disappointed in that considering they go on about Ohana and family we certainly didn't feel like family in this hotel. The reception staff didn't really speak or make eye contact. I know this sounds like a whinge but this is how we felt. Further to this in view of the resort fees charged they didn't include body wash for the shower just soap, at $15 a night resort fee surly you could stretch to body wash?. This hotel I feel primarily caters for people either ending or joint a cruise or for shorter stays and not much for the UK market. Would I return...Hawaii yes without hesitation, this hotel...mmmm don't think so!
