Outrigger Reef on the Beach
- What's Included
I have stayed at this hotel twice (previous September 2013) at the recommendation of a close friend who has stayed many times. We love LOVE the Outrigger Reef. Location cannot be beat, we love being a little bit further out from the centre of Waikiki. Great walking distance to walk off your dinner from the Cheesecake Factory! The pool area is fantastic, the service around the pool are is great too. I was sad to see the menu had changed a bit since the last time i visited in 2013. The wings were not as amazing, and the turkey cobb was off the menu! The drinks were also a little more expensive than I remember, but still great value for Australian $$. The rooms are dated, but I love that about Hawaii. I'm not looking for a modern room, I'm looking for a little history and sun. We love the private beach, we loved the happy hour cocktails in the bar out by the water, and we loved the service from the front desk and concierge. We stayed in a partial ocean view room, which was in the tower closest to the city end. Next time I would love to be able to stay closer to the front of the hotel with a better view.My hubby is a little more adventurous with public transport than myself, so we got around on the free trolleys a lot, and we just had a beautiful break here. Laundry facilities are fantastic, and the small convenience stores well appointed. Of course you don't need to walk far in Waikiki to get to an ABC store with a bigger range! My husband had let them know we were on our honeymoon, and we had a chilled bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us on arrival which was a lovely surprise. Not sure if hubby had paid for this in advance or it was a gift from the hotel, either way it was lovely. I cannot wait for our next trip with the kids this time!
The hotel accommodation was terrific. The room was very nice and clean with a good view (We had partial ocean view). Our original flight was cancelled due to weather so the entire trip was pushed a day back, my wife and I needless to say had a very long Journey from NYC to HON with layover of over 6 hours, our bags were delayed for two days, but once we arrived we felt at home and the hotel was more than accommodating to our 1 day delay and let us push the entire trip back one day with no fee. Ambrose at the front desk was exceptional and made us forget all what had happened. He took care of us very well with champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. He gave us a bunch of details on what to do and what to expect. Overall the Hotel itself is a very nice, clean and well maintained. I would recommend to anyone who is visiting Hawaii. The restaurants at the hotel are however, very expensive as almost anything else is Hawaii. With that said, if you go down the block you can find other eating options that are a bit more affordable.Hotel does charge a $30 something dollar a fee per pay at the end. Which is a bit much on top of all the other expenses. But all hotels do this in Hawaii, or at least most of them do. Only Cons I saw at the location was the beach, very rocky, but still very much beautiful to look at. 4.5 out of 5.
This was our 2nd trip to Oahu and as it was for our wedding we booked a 5 star as oppose to the vive hotel where we have stayed before as I wanted a bit of luxury and a pool. I was surprised that there were no sunloungers for guests to laze on the beach $50 is a lot for two hours hire. Food and drinks were expensive around the pool. We enjoyed a lovely Buffett breakfast at the shorebird a couple of times. Rooms were lovely and we did receive a free bottle of prosecco as we were getting married, however I didn't feel any kind of personalised service at all the staff were not very chatty and I felt perhaps an upgrade for a slightly better room or something additional would be nice for a wedding celebration, this would of turned a 3 star into a 5 but I suppose in Hawaii weddings are an everyday occurrence not like in the U.K
We spent 8 wonderful nights in an ocean front room at this gem of a hotel in Oahu. Our room was spacious , our bed was king size & so comfortable & we were so close to the Ocean we watched turtles surfing in the sea from our balcony. All in all this was just what the doctor ordered.
Great location, service, food & price was very reasonable. Staff went out if their way to make our stay enjoyable. Managers reception was a great idea & personally met the General Manager which was nice.
