Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach
- What's Included
I have just realised that I hadn't posted a review when we visited here in 2015 but we are going back this September for 10 nights so it must have been good. We stayed for our 30th wedding anniversary in September 2015 and are returning for our 32bd this September. We had a 14th floor Oceanfront room and it was heaven. We loved our balcony particularly the rocking chairs and as we are from Northern Ireland, the time difference had me on the balcony from 5 am watching the beach chairs being put out and the sun rising and the surfers making their way out to lie on their boards. All 3 restaurants were great in different ways, we had our Anniversary meal in The Hula Grill and our 2 grown up kids showed up as a surprise!!!Breakfast in Dukes was too much(or did I eat too much??), banana pancakes to die for😈The hotel was spotless, had its own guest laundry and the staff were so helpful and lovely to deal with. We loved the hotel an Hawaii.
My family was very sad to leave at the end of our trip. The Outrigger has really greatstaff at the front desk, bellhops, and especially in the restaurants and on the beach related activities. Our room was on the "city-view" side, but our little balcony had anindirect view of the beach and the ocean which was a pleasure to look at every day.Putting up with tourists must be hard sometimes, but I found many examples of exceptional accommodation performed by the staff for my family. I would have given it a 5 rating for one exception. I wish the hotel could seperatethe Concierge desk better from the Timeshare and up-selling package deals. I stopped there on my first day, and was very discouraged when trying to figure out how to go to Pearl Harbor and Hanauma Bay. It costs a lot to go to Waikiki and families on budgets need to spend their money as best as they can. I left feeling very discouraged, but was able to figure out how to do what I wanted on my own. I never talked to them after that.
My wife and I landed at this resort after hearing rave reviews from our friends and family. It did not disappoint. The staff was great, the restaurants and bars were a few of our favorites and the beach location was outstanding. You will not be disappointed while staying here.
Stay at this hotel everytime we go to Hawaii. Didn't give it a 5 because the last time we stayed there they kept running out of towels and umbrellas for the beach and they were doing construction and it started VERY EARLY in the morning.
No one goes to Hawaii thinking things will be inexpensive. Now that we have that out of the way...we chose to stay at the Outrigger Main (there are multiple Outrigger properties) when we booked via Costco Travel. Sweet deal. 5 nights at this hotel made for a relaxing and beautiful stay in Oahu. Staff were all overly courteous and accommodating. The hotel itself is beautiful, but I'm not one who wears a white glove to check for perfection or gets down behind the bed to look at floor. The room was clean and smelled fresh, sheets were crisp and clean, bathroom was clean and well maintained. Was it perfect? No. Was it an excellent room in a busy hotel on a famous beach? Yes! We stayed on the 15th floor. Balcony had a nice view of the beach, looking south. Perfect beach access for this hotel, and beware, many "beachside" hotels don't have actual access. There are beach do-das to rent, umbrellas, chairs, boards, floaties, etc. 3 main choices for food in the hotel, Dukes, Chucks and Hula Grill. We tried them all. My opinion: Chucks for dinner, Hula for lunch or breakfast and Dukes for the breakfast buffet. Perfect spring break adventure!
