A century ago, Hawaii's last and most beloved princess lived in the heart of Waikiki. Her story unfolds at the site, which today graces the former royal estate of 'Ainahau. Just a two minute walk from Waikiki Beach, or the International Market Place, this historic property offers an enjoyable poolside atmosphere, as well as 'Creation', Sheraton's Polynesian cocktail & dinner show.

Beautiful hotel in great location

My wife and I stayed here for a quick vacation in Honolulu. We stayed here because our in laws stay here every year. We can see why. The Princess is a beautiful facility from the lobby to the pool area to the rooms themselves. Check in was a little slow, but that was to get an upgrade. We stayed in a king in the tower. We had a view of the pool. Our room was very nice with a comfortable bed and an adequate bathroom. The decor was nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We liked to eat at the Splash by the pool. The location could not be better, right in the heart of Waikiki and close to the beach. We will come again.

Perfect location for family holiday

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay at the princess. We had connecting rooms, high floor overlooking Waikiki which were great. We knew in advance the rooms would be a little tired, but that became irrelevant as the rest of the hotel and location was excellent. One staff member was particularly good , Nathan, greeted us each morning and did some great activities with the kids (and grown ups!) - hula dancing, ukulele, bracelet making. Small pool, but with Waikiki across the road, we hardly used it. Liz in the restaurant was also outstanding. Would stay there again on our next visit.

Puddle in room, roach infestation, clogged bathtub

My family booked 2 rooms at this hotel for 6 nights. We are SPG members and had stayed at this hotel many years ago. The 1st night in my room #569, we reported a big puddle of water next to the bed. Hotel Engineering did not know why and placed some towels on the puddle. The next morning, my spouse found and killed a live cockroach in the bathroom, and found out that the bathtub was somewhat clogged up. We reported issues to the Manager who could not change our rooms or accommodate our needs for a pleasant stay at this hotel. We are so disappointed with our stay and customer service at this hotel, and swear that we will never come back. Besides the issue encountered, the elevators are so slow even though the hotel is at a good location. After 1 night, we all moved to Alohilani Hotel which we like very much for the remaining 5 nights.

Hawaii Vacation 2018

We were due to arrive late on the first night of our Hawaii vacation so I booked a room at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani as a cheaper place to crash for one night before heading to our actual hotel for the duration of our stay. The property was pretty average across the board.A couple of specifics that did stand out: (1) The gentleman that checked us in was competent but couldn't have been more disinterested in his job. (2) Our room was recently updated, but with somewhat tone deaf design choices. For example, there was very limited counter space in the room so you really had to pick and choose what you could bring out of your bag and the narrow ledge above the toilet was positioned such that the toilet seat couldn't stay up without being held in position.Overall, since we only showed up, slept, and left in exchange for saving a few dollars, I am not sure I would retrospectively change my plan. If this is a real vacation day for you, however, I would recommend staying at one of the much nicer properties within blocks of this one. The price difference wasn't large enough to warrant spending vacation time here over other hotels.

Close to the beach, shops and restaurants.

Staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Arrived early so had to wait to check in but did manage to check in a little earlier which was good as we were all exhausted from the flight.Partial ocean view room which was on the 9th floor and the views were great. Great view down to diamond head and the ocean. The room was clean and comfortable although a little on the small side when we were all in the room (2 adults, 2 teenagers) but that was mainly at night getting ready to go out. After 12 days it felt like the walls were closing in. Would definitely look to get a larger room next time. The room itself was ok, bathroom seemed dated but otherwise comfortable sleep. To be honest when you are in Honolulu you aren't spending time in your hotel room...Had breakfast at the buffet once and while the food was ok, it was very expensive and as we are not big eaters was not worth the money. Sometimes the smell of breakfast/dinner goes through the elevators, should have some air freshness in the elevator as the smell can be off putting sometimes.Splash bar is great to enjoy a few drinks by the pool or after a day out, staff are friendly and service is pretty good. If you don't want a fancy cocktail they will make normal cocktails if you ask. Had snacks a few times and they are pretty good also.Location is ideal. 5 minutes to the beach, restaurants, cafes and shops and ABC right across the road and another 5 within 5 minutes if that one doesn't have anything you need.Overall had no real complaints, just wish I booked a larger room.
