Sheraton Princess Kaiulani
- What's Included
Even though the hotel is nice and the service is good ,we booked a room for three adults 11 months before going ,when arriving at the hotel we were told they had upgraded us to a king size bed which we thought was OK not realising they expected myself and wife to share the same bed with our 21 year old daughter after explaining that was not acceptable they then made out they where doing us a favour by letting us have a roll away bed in the room and said we should charge 75 dollars a night for this ,but said but we will wave the charge,on the booking form from the hotel said that i should off had a double double room. So be careful when booking and possible double check you will be getting the room you pay for.
I've been staying at this hotel since 25 years ago. It was my favorite Waikiki Hotel and I'd stay here 3 out of every 4 times I visited Waikiki. Then I was shocked when I stayed here 6 years ago. It was a hotel in despair and falling apart. Was not even a 1 star, and in very bad need of repairs (I guess have had to do with loss of Japanese Tourist and the 2008 recession). So, I stopped staying here. I was disappointed as I paid for a 3-star hotel and got a half-star hotel. (Service was good even though the hotel building was falling apart). And then I noticed there have been renovations. So, I stayed here the last time and it is once again the Princess Kaiulani of the old days. Yes, the rooms are not that so large, but it is a nice and clean hotel, with good service, good location, and many of the rooms offer good or partial ocean view. I love the Friday night entertainments.
I just stayed at the hotel for four nights. Overall, I thought it was a good value for $127.06 + the $28 resort fee per night. All of the hotel staff was pretty friendly. They offered me both free breakfast + 500 points as a Platinum welcome bonus, instead of a choice between the two, which was nice. Because the resort fee includes free WiFi, and that is a Platinum amenity, they will also give me 250 SPG points, per night as an alternate benefit. They also offered me a voucher for a free appetizer at the bar, which was nice. They did upgrade me from a city view room to an ocean view room, that had a furnished terrace, and the views were pretty good. The walls were very thin, and I could hear people in the other rooms on both sides. The hotel does not provide in room glassware in the bathroom, but rather provides plastic cups, which I didn't really like. There were also not any bathrobes in the room, I'm not sure whether or not I could have asked for one...but I would have used it if it was there. The breakfast buffet included omelets which was great because that's not always included in Platinum breakfast. The hotel is about a 45-second walk to the beach and is well located; unfortunately, beach chairs are not provided, which is particularly disappointing given the high resort fee.Overall, I kind of felt like I was staying at a Four Points, and I'm not really sure how Starwood is defining the differences between the full-service Sheraton and mid-service Four Points brands.I might return if I got a rate of $127.06 per night again, but I probably wouldn't pay much more than that. I think I would be willing to pay 20-30% more to stay at a more upscale hotel next time, and I'll do a more diligent job looking for potential BRGs at other SPG properties.
This was out fourth trip to Hawaii and after staying at two other hotels we decided to try the Sheraton, Princess Kaiulani. We arrived about 09.00 as we had an early flight into HNL from Australia but we could leave our cases in a secure area. When we were finally checked in we were given a free upgrade to an ocean view! We got to our room and was not disappointed, the room and décor was a little outdated but no way near as bad as some of the reviews I had read. Daily room service was prompt and the staff were fantastic. Bar area and pool were great with staff continually making sure you had food and drink while lazing around. We will be defiantly be staying here for our next holiday.
Wheelchair accessable even the showe. Or room has great view of the ocean. One block to Waikiki beach. Chairs and towels provided. Staff is VERY helpful. Great pool area. Loving it.im with daughter and grandchildren 8 and 10. There is a chair to lower people into the pool. Close to shopping and restaurants.
