- What's Included
Trendy, sophisticated and completely refreshed, this resort ushers in a new level of comfort, style and panache to the Waikiki scene. Brand new facilities include award-winning dining, waterslide and interactive fountain area for kids.
Only negative is its "zooish" atmosphere, but it's Waikiki so it comes with the territory. Rooms are decent size, bath, and balcony are awesome. Toto commode is a great touch. Pools are terrific just super busy. Infinity pool is perfect as it's adult only. Bars serve great drinks. Not into buffets, but this buffet is a must on the weekend as it's all you can eat King Crab Legs. SPG lounge is super awesome, best hotel lounge in the USA in my opinion. Thanks to Sheratons employees and management. We will definitely return.
We went to Kahala last time. It was a relaxing and first class get-away. This time we went to the middle of Waikiki and had much more fun. There is so much to do and all within a short walk. Swimming in ocean at sunrise, breakfast at Dukes, or in the Sheraton Club to save a few bucks, outrigger canoeing off the beach, snorkeling, body boarding, catamaran cruise, awsome kids pools. We loved this trip. So easy and so fun !
We moved from the Ritz Carlton Residences to the Sheraton Waikiki Resort on the final night of our trip as there was no availability at our original hotel. The Sheraton lobby area, bars, shops etc are great. However, when you go up the elevator onto the guest floors things change dramatically to looking like a very tired 3 star hotel rather than a 5 star. The carpets and ceilings are grungy and look like they haven't been refurbished since the 1970s. The room was very tired looking too, with peeling paint and grubby carpet. The sheets were beyond their best with threads loose everywhere and the bathroom had poor fixtures and fittings and again looked like something out of a 3 star hotel. The view of Waikiki beach from the room, however, was great and the staff accommodating. Nevertheless, the price tag that comes with this hotel does not match up to the quality expected from a 5 star hotel. We will be back to the Ritz Carlton Residences, as it is cost the same price per night but it is a brand new hotel, has sparkling rooms and radiates 5 star quality. Very disappointing Sheraton Hotel.
We have stayed here before - had a good time (and gave a good review) and on that basis returned with an elderly aunt and teenage daughter. On our last night (Executive floor rooms) we were confronted with very loud obscenities being shouted from the balcony of a neighbouring room. We rang security who asked if they could come to our room to determine where the noise was coming from to which we answered yes ( lights going on all over the adjacent floors as people were similarly disturbed). What happened next? Absolutely nothing. We ended up bunkered down with frightened family with no response or check back from security while the tirade continued for quite a long time. One of the reasons we chose a hotel like Sheraton was for peace of mind and security. The minute that fails you start questioning why you are paying top dollar for ordinary service and facilities that while OK in the context of over inflated Waikiki are sub-standard for resorts in most 3rd world countries (in the last few years we have been in Thailand, Bali, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, South Africa, Vietnam -and this hotel would struggle to rate 3 stars for both the relative and absolute price in any of those places)Service was mixed - very good (Executive Lounge) to unacceptably rude (Check-in and The Edge bar)Hotel is well maintained but tired. It has the best pools on the beachfront - but that is not saying much. This is hotel is clearly targeted at the Japanese wedding market where they can get away with charging a lot for not much - if you don't fit into that - go somewhere else
This was my second time to Wakiki. I loved it more the second time round. The hotel is fantastic, it is grand and has many shops underneath including gift and coffee shops. The hotel has two pools, the best being the infinity pool! The staff are very friendly. I went at the end of November were all the Christmas decorations were out and the Christmas music was everywhere so that made it extra special for me. American's really know how to get in the holiday spirit. The hotel is well located to the main strip of shops as well which is very handy. Would love to go one day again and would stay at this hotel again!
