My husband, two teenagers and I stayed in #918 Waikiki Shore for 4 nights in March 2017. This condo was very nicely furnished, with great views and gave us lots of space. It is nice to be able to walk to restaurants, the beach, the shops etc. I'm not usually keen on staying in cities on my holidays, but this was a great combination of relaxation and things to do for the teens. I'm particularly sensitive to noise, but this condo was very quiet, even though it is right in the heart of Waikiki.
This was our third time at the Waikiki Shore. ( It is a Condo) We stayed in a Studio Apt. which is very adequate for a couple. It is a great location, with great views of both sunrise an sunset. The higher the floor the better. Staff were very helpful. It is close to everything. The Shore Bird is a good restaurant/bar with a very good view of the beach/ocean in the adjoining hotel.
Castle Property Penthouse 6 on the top floor features a fully furnished one bedroom apartment with full kitchen, washer and dryer, and perfect view of Diamond Head out of the kitchen window and Fort Derussy beach out of the balcony. You are close to the sandy and large beach of Fort Derussy while able to be within walking distance of everything Waikiki. If you want to save money, you can cook meals in the apartment. We slept with the windows open listening to the ocean waves crashing all night long--perfect! Definitely worth the price!
Just returned from seven nights at the Waikiki Shore. We have stayed there a number of times. This time we were in a Castle Resorts managed room. THE GOOD: Oceanfront. Our unit was literally on top of the water. It was really nice to be able to sit on the deck and see from Diamond Head to beyond the airport. There is not a better view.Kitchen. We had a fully stocked kitchen which really made it easy to have breakfast in the morning. A trip to the store and we were ready for the week. We figured we saved $400 fixing breakfast in the room every morning. We did two dinners and saved another $300.Space. We had two king beds and two twins. Fit the five of us perfectly. To separate bathrooms were great as well.Front Desk. Everyone we met at the front desk was very helpful. We had some wifi issues and reported it. Maintenance was there right away. THE NOT SO GOOD.This is a Ocean Front property so you get all the noise that comes with that. At ALL hours of the night. Just go into it knowing that and you will be fine. And again, because it is oceanfront, the salt water takes a toll on it. It's clear that some owners take better care of their units than others. We have been in units that would challenge any five start resort. But for this trip, unit 500 is clearly just a revenue generator. Paint was pealing off the walls and ceiling. Shower doors were just barely hanging on. The carpet was awful. We had to either wear socks, slippers or keep our shoes on all week. I didn't want any bare feet touching whatever was on the carpet. It was vacuumed every day by housekeeping but it really needed a deep steam cleaning. The elevators have always been a challenge in this building. We were pretty lucky this week and didn't have any problems.Overall we enjoyed our stay. We snuck over and used the Reef pool a couple times when we got tired of the beach. That was really nice. The beach is a bit of a mess in from of the hotel. Global warming is clear taking toll. We have been going to this area for 30 years and remember when the beach in front of the Reef and Waikiki Shore was large. It is now a small sliver of sand. And when it is high tide there is nowhere to sit. Castle Waikiki Shore is great if you value ocean front and having a full kitchen. Otherwise, it's just another mid range hotel.
We loved our stay at the Waikiki Shore.....what's not to love here......it's smack in the middle of all the fun waikiki has to offer & the views are just amazing......it's starting to show it's age but overall the upkeep is fine. Try to get a room away from the elevators.....they are a bit noisy & may keep you up at night. Our only complaint would be the service at the front desk.....I had left a small item behind at another hotel and they were happy to deliver it to the shore's front desk(which I thought was outstanding service from the hotel I had just left) but the receptionist refused to accept it.......it's always the "little things" that leave a bad taste in your mouth.......outside of that we had a great stay here!
