Continental Plaza Hotel Kissimmee
- What's Included
OverviewContinental Plaza Hotel is located within walking distance to numerous restaurants and shopping facilities, and 3 km from Walt Disney World Resort. Approximately 39 km from the Orlando airport.
Simple, efficient accommodation close to the theme parks with a pleasant swimming pool. The check in procedure is simple and the rooms are reasonably sized with two queen size beds. There is a fridge and microwave but no crockery or cutlery so be prepared if you intend to self cater at all.We had problems with our key cards which stopped working twice in the 8 nights we stayed. The process of getting the card re-programmed seemed to be slightly haphazard but reasonably quick. It would have been better if there had not been a problem.Breakfast is included and there is a selection of simple hot food, self made waffles, bagels, cereals and fresh fruit. It is not particularly special but good as a start to the day if you are out.The price is good value but you get what you pay for.
Going to break this up between pros and cons to make it easierPros:*Very close to Disney parks, especially Animal Kingdom*Room service was quick and they did a fantastic job cleaning the room*Breakfast was okay. We were full for some of the day at the parks*Close to a Chinese restaurant on one side and a Bonefish Grille on the other. There's also a Walgreens in walking distance and a vending machine on each floor*Free Wi-Fi!*Staff was really nice from when we came to when we leftCons:*Room was humid and sheets were very damp. We tried to put the fan on constant but it would be turned off when they cleaned the room*I know people are trying to cut costs and save money but that $10 charge for taking food with you is bogus. If you're offering something for free then it should be free all around*Yes they have a shuttle to the parks but it was so confusing we said screw it and paid the $20 Disney parking fee. It went to certain parks but either didn't go to other parks or didn't come back from the same parks. If you need a place to sleep at night and want to be close to the parks I definitely recommend this hotel. It gets the job done for a decent price
I'm kind of amazed at the high reviews on this place, and very skeptical of them. It's not the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, and it's very close to Disney, but we definitely had some issues:1) Housekeeping left a half full shampoo bottle on our room (disgusting)2) The AC was *humidifying* the room. Floors were dangerously slippery and the pillows and carpet were damp3) The took was filthy and bug ridden. We were stepping on roaches. I live in FL. Big are normal. Not this much.4) Breakfast was understaffed and food was usually gone. And the hotel had signs up threatening to charge $10 if you took food back to the room or *left it on the table* - very nice way to treat your guests. All of this points towards management that's striving to cut costs to the point where it impacts the hotel stay. That's always the first thing that goes wrong. I won't be staying here again. Not worth it.
We stayed at this quality inn in December in 2016 and thought it was a nice place. By July 2017 it had taken a turn for the worse. Our room had a musty smell, the toilet clogged on first use, toilet at pool bathroom wouldn't flush and was full of excrement. Went to the lobby for pamphlets during a heavy rain and water was pouring through the lobby roof requiring staff to place 4 or 5 large trash barrels catch leaks. The volume of people challenged the free breakfast stocking. All that said, the staff are friendly and accommodating and the WiFi was good. Probably will not consider staying here again.
Accompanied daughter to Fla. for her to attend her friend's wedding in Winter Park. We also went to Disney, and this hotel had a shuttle, which was prompt and convenient. The room was fine for a budget hotel. Nothing to complain about, everything worked. Loved he lake next door--egrets and turtles. Had to go to the barebones lobby for Wifi. We ate dinner two doors down at the Bonefish Grill and breakfast at the Cracker Barrel across the street. Another night we walked several miles toward the freeway and ate at Subway. We also enjoyed the pool which was well maintained. The man at the front desk was very helpful.
