Holiday Inn Orlando SW Celebration Area
- What's Included
Pros- the staff is friendly and the location is near Disney (about a 10-15 min drive), some of the rooms have a cool family friendly set up where there is a queen/king bed(?) with a wall separating it from a bunk bed. Clean linens. Cons- it's a bit loud at night, the rooms need a little updating and didn't feel totally clean (ex- the walls need a good wiping- toothpaste and other spots on the walls). Also... I know this can't be changed, but keep in mind if your child is a light sleeper- the sink is located outside of the bathroom, right near where the child sleeps and is very loud. We did not take advantage of any of the amenities offered, but it looked like they had a pool and game room available. Breakfast is for a charge, but there is also a MCDonalds next door and some other options within a short driving distance.
Stayed from Monday to Friday to visit Universal during the week. The hotel was very clean, affordable, and a simple drive to the parks. I believe busses and shuttles to the parks were available from the hotel but we had rented a car so didn't look into this. Our room was clean and everything was better than expected. Our room faced south towards the main road with a nice view. Wasnt a problem any of the nights we were there, but might have the potential to get loud over the weekends. They also offer rooms with both a bed and a set of bunk beds. Pretty great idea for families of 4, with kids that don't want to share a bed. They had a vast breakfast buffet for a great price, which we utilized each morning before heading out for the day. I think kids under 12 eat free. Plenty of other dining or take-out options within minutes of the hotel as well. Basic cardio options in the 24hr exercise facility and heated pool and hot tub outdoors. Perfect place for our trip.
Stayed Jan 12-14, 2017 for a trip to EPCOT. Although I paid with IHG points (25K/PN) I find this property a little run down for the regular price. Stayed in room 1714 (Jr Suite) two rooms and 1-1/2 baths, Free-wifi -two balconies, living room with sofa sleeper and TV and and 1/2 bathroom; kitchenette with bar stools, microwave, coffeemaker and full fridge. However, no kitchen utensils or supplies provided such as d/washing liquid, paper towels. Bedroom with King bed; with two french doors, TV, Jacuzzi that is located in the bedroom (?) with frosted sliding doors, bathroom with very small "mildewed" shower. Would never use that Jacuzzi - dirty. The bathroom was not very clean. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board and safe. Bedroom a/c made severe noise that did not let us sleep - advised the front desk of this but nothing was done nor offered to be done. Balconies faced the pool and the top of the hotel's first floor showing all the a/c units. Not a good view! Parking is free but good luck if you find one! We parked on the grass both nights. Upon check in we were advised that a "resort fee" of $15.00 per night would apply. Perry, the manager checked us in. I told him that this was not mentioned on the IHG site when I booked the room and it was one of the reasons I chose this IHG property. He said he believed the app stated it but I did not book on the app. He then said he would look into it - which obviously he didn't and we were charged the fee upon check-out. This charge will be disputed. Also be advised that a charge/hold of approximately $60USD is placed on your card daily for each day you stay. This drops a couple of days after you check out. Keep enough credit available on the card. There is a Pizza Hut on the property along with other cafeteria type food. Breakfast is not included but available. Bar/lounge in the lobby. McDonald's is adjacent to the hotel along with other restaurants. Overall, this is an ok property if you plan to use it to, shower, sleep and visit attractions - keeping your expectations low and getting the room for a low price or using points.
It's a bit hard to know where to begin with this review. I stayed here for two nights as part of a business meeting. The entire property is overdue for some major facelifts, as the lobby, hallways, rooms were all very worn. Worse, my room was just not clean, with horrible stains all over the carpet. There were too few plug-ins for charging electronics, and the in-room Keurig did not work. Also, the A/C in my room seemed to struggle to cool down the room. The check-in process was slow, and the instructions that we were given for breakfast vouchers (part of the meeting contract) was not noted in our reservation nor passed along to front desk personnel. The wifi password provided at check-in was also not correct, which meant that I needed to call their support line to get the new password. In an attempt to say something positive, I will say that the bed in my room was comfortable...I was pleasantly surprised at just how soundly I slept. Also, when I raised my concerns with a manager, I was offered a room change. Due to the meeting schedule and group dinner, I wasn't able to take advantage of that option.So...I hope never to have to stay at this property again. For the price that was paid, it just was not even remotely acceptable to have so many issues, particularly issues that were avoidable.
Very dated. In need of a major upgrade. We encountered customer service that was unfriendly (except Jerome), a front desk understaffed, and no apologies for no one cleaning our room twice during our four night stay. Frustrating! Gross.
