Maingate Lakeside Resort
- What's Included
Good size room for a cheap price. Refrigerator and microwave in every room. It has 3 pools to chose from. It's kid and adult friendly. Has a couple restaurants on site and a couple tiki bars at two of the pools for a refreshing drink or snack while logging in the sun. Within walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. Free shuttle to all the attractions. Would highly recommend and definitely stay there again.
I got this hotel for about 40 dollars a night. The good: room was clean, toilet worked well, hot water adequate. The bad: wifi sucked. We stayed here for 6 nights. The first 4 days we didn't have Internet. The front desk kept saying somebody was working on it. When the Internet finally came on, signal was so poor you couldn't really use it. Luckily, we were at the theme parks all day and came home late at night so I didn't really need wifi. I just used my phone data. They advertise free wifi but it's really useless. They charge an 11 dollar resort fee per day. We didn't get to use the pool. I wouldn't have minded paying if we had the wifi. Btw, don't get suckered into attending a time share presentation at Wyndham when you go to ask the concierge about anything. They promise you free breakfast (coffee and a muffin it turns out) plus a 25 dollar rebate per night of your stay at the hotel. Such a huge waste of time (they say a 90 min presentation but total is 4 hours because of the tour and the sales pitch) and the sales people will pressure you into buying into Club Wyndham. Just say NO unless you really want to buy a time share.
I have to admit the reviews of this place scared me. I was to spend 10 nights in what people described as pretty much hell. And then i got here and you know what: those people who give it a bad review must all be snobs. Yes,its not a modern hotel. But the rooms are spacious and clean. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful (busy, yes. I'm here during spring break and the place is heaving). So close to the parks and all sorts of amenities. So the fact is: haters will always have. If you're loaded and can afford it book somewhere else. For normal people this is a great place to stay
This is not what I would call a resort. A nice hotel but not a resort. You have to pay an additional $44 for the resort amenities, the safe, the pool, miniature golf, the shuttle to the theme parks, (free) wifi, non working hot tub, and all the rest. I argued with them that with our schedule we probably wouldn't use the amenities so could they waived the charge. The answer was no because they wouldn't know how to charge if we decided to use the pool! It was cold the first two days we were in Florida so we couldn't swim in the pool however no refund. This is a great place to rest after a long day at the parks but not a resort.
Let me start by saying I am Military, and as such do not have high standards for where I sleep. The only thing I ask for is a clean room, comfortable bed and working wifi for the end of the day. This motel failed in all those. This is not a resort. This is a former brand name motel (Best Western) that wasn't good enough to meet their criteria and got kicked out being a franchisee. There is a reason for that. The rooms were old, beds uncomfortable. Wifi did not work for the 2 days I was there. Front desk did not compensate for the lack of wifi saying it wasn't their problem. Horrible customer service. The only good thing here is the location (although lots of traffic at the end of the day) and the buffet was reasonable at $6.99 and kids eat free. Coffee was really good. Not staying here again next time I go back.
