Maingate Lakeside Resort
- What's Included
For the price I paid for my stay and reading other reviews I was expecting the worse however, I was pleasantly surprised. PROS: All the staff I met during my three days were very nice Bed was made and fresh clean towels were provided every day. Very quiet and close to attractionsCONS: very dated. A coat of paint in interior and exterior would do wonders. housekeeping did a rough clean up job. While the bathtub, sink, and toilet were clean, everything else was very dirty. Luckily, I always bring Lysol wipes and after a 2 minute wipe down of phone, remote, switches, knobs and hairdryer it looked so much better. Phone did not work ( but didn't need it) Lond story short, you get what you paid for. If anyone is expecting more than clean sheets and towels from a $40 a night hotel, then they have too high of expectations.
We stayed in room #674 in building 14, the room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We didn't get a chance to use the pools, but they looked very clean and were open late into the evening. The location of this resort can not be beat, it is a short car ride of about 10 to 15 minutes to the Disney Parks. It is also located in an area with a large selection of all different types of restaurants for your dinning pleasure. We were on the second floor and had no trouble at all with our internet service. We found the room and area to be very quite and we slept great and awoke refreshed and were ready to hit the parks. Sure it could use some updating, but we found everything to be in just fine working order. Being that we are Disney Pass Holders we are always on the look out for a hotel which is close to the parks, cheap & comfortable and this hotel meet all of our needs and we will definitely be staying here again.
This "hotel" or as they like to call it "resort" is old. It has nasty dirty carpet, 80s furniture and decor, and smells like moldy chlorine. The bathroom is in desperate need of a complete remodel as well. The bed isn't completely uncomfortable, but they give you two little pillows per bed. We could only handle one night here before switching hotels to an actual hotel.
Looks nothing like pictures and definitely not a 3 star hotel as rated by Hotwire. It is a one star hotel at best and lower than a DaysInn. Room was rundown and dirty. Spelled like Raid and probably for good reason and I could feel the bed bugs in the bed. Very shady area. Very dark at night with poor lighting. Avoid at all costs!
Most of the things about this hotel are great, staff are mostly friendly, good food, comfortable beds, clean pools, nice rooms and room service daily. But the Wi-Fi here is so bad, it really shouldnt even be advertised in the hotel information. You have to stand in a few spots around the hotel to get internet. Almost no chance of getting any connection in your room. Everytime you try and talk to staff about it they just give you bull excuses and speak to you like you don't know what you're talking about. Which is one thing that gets to me a lot, I have anxiety and hate complaining face to face about things in general. Especially when someone winds me up with some false info about the situation. I just cant deal with it it's really annoying. I know it isn't the staffs fault the internet is bad but dont speak to me like an idiot. As someone who has grown up with the internet and uses it 6+ hours a day, everyday. Studied computers in college. I don't appreciate the bull they tell you everytime. No the internet hasn't been bad for only a few days. First of all I have the mental capacity to check the hotel reviews to see that people have been complaining about the internet here for months (i didn't check far enough back to see if years) no it isn't bad because you have recently secured the internet and before that it worked fine. That doesn't make any sense lmao. Everyone I have spoke to here since I arrived says the same thing the Wi-Fi is BAD. It's bad because you either have terrible bandwidth which can't supply all the people staying here or because you don't have enough routers/range extenders around the hotel so the connection doesn't reach most places. Speaking on behalf of people who come from other countries we don't have mobile data to use when the Wi-Fi isn't working here. We rely on it to speak to family/friends, to try and find information we need for the holiday we're on. Nevermind just social media browsing/watching things like we should be able to. That is just out of the question, videos will not load at all even at the lowest quality settings unless you go stand in a few specific spots around the hotel (all outside your room) which will span a few feet/meters/yards whatever measurement system you like to use.I'm not complaining for my benefit (well partially just to vent my frustration) but mainly for the people who stay here in the future. I'm here for another week and I already know I'm going to just have to deal with this for the remainder of time. Which sucks as the hotel claims you get good Wi-Fi which is just flase advertisement...Wouldn't stay here again which really is a shame because most things are honestly really great here! but I'm a big internet user and unfortunately it matters to me I can't help that. Just fix it to save yourself from loosing future custom it's a stupid downfall to have at a nice place like this.
