Maingate Lakeside Resort
- What's Included
On our holiday we stayed here for a week. When we arrived we saw that the resort was out dated. The rooms confirmed that this resort is older than 20 years at least and that the rooms where never renovated. The mattress and the tv where the only new things in the room I think. The telephone looks completely broken and the doors by the refrigerator was only one door. The room was clean at first sight but after looking closely you will find out that the room is not clean at all. Also during our stay at this resort thieves tried to brake into our car. Our window was cracked. Not only our car but 4 other cars as well. There is only 1 way into the resort and thieves can do whatever they want without being noticed. Also the airco sound like a airfield. The only positive thing off this resort is that it is close to disneyworld and that's it.
Booked a 6 night stay and payed in advance online. When I got to the hotel, they told me that I owed the full amount for the room. When I told them that I had paid in advance, they said they had to "look into it" and came back 5 minutes later and said the payment was found. Checked in late and called in advance to let them know, and was told I was "lucky that they still had rooms available." Mind you, I already booked well in advance. Cut to 2 mornings later, I receive a call at 7am stating that I still owed my full amount, and had to go over the whole story of how I prepaid again. As per the room, I found a total of 4 roaches over the course of my 6 days, wi-fi was terrible, and there's only about 10 channels on the TV. Also paid an extra $24 for a pool view. Definitely couldn't see the pool through all the plants, so why was I charged extra? Bottom line, definitely avoid this place at all costs. The price definitely isn't worth the hassle or uncleanliness.
Booked thru Groupon, was excited to get a room for $38.00 per night, stayed 2 nights, when I 1rst booked, I was so excited, such a great price! Right? Wrong! What a dump! The stains on the rug were so bad I could not take my shoes off, stains on the chairs, did not want to sit down, the clincher was when I pulled the sheets back to go to sleep, stains all over the sheets. Even the toilet seat would not stay up without taking the tank cover off! I kid you not! So, I went online to find reviews, seems that many complaints, the same, owner wrote in to validate that changes were being made. Right! So, I took pictures, checked out and asked for the manager, showed the pictures, manager said " I am sorry" and refunded my money. I asked for a email address to send the pictures for a follow up to correct the problems for future guests, was told a waste of time! Wow, what a dump! I hope the owner reads this review! Let the buyer beware!
Stayed here for 5 nights June 9-14 for a last minute trip to Disney for my sons High School Graduation. If you are looking for 5 stars then you are looking in the wrong place. But for $33.00 a night and only a 5 minute car ride to Disney, it was clean and what you would expect. The whole place could use some TLC and a coat of paint at the least. The front area seems to get more care then the back units of the hotel. Door entering the room was very flimsy and peeling apart in places The bed was made everyday and we had clean towels and wash clothes. The carpets had just been cleaned when we checked in as they were still damp. Did not see any bugs in the room dead or alive. If you are looking for a very budget friendly place to stay then this is it. But in saying that they really do need to invest in some updating of the paint inside and outside and do a very deep cleaning in general..would go along way with making this a very nice budget friendly place. Will say that the people at the front desk could use some customer service training..as there was not a smile or hello on anyone's face at check in or check out. And they could not answer a basic questions like where is the closest hospital (even though it was less than 3 miles for them hotel.
We went last summer for two weeks. I think that for the price, it's pretty good. Don't expect anything more than a average hotel, with a decent pool, tiny but clean rooms, minimum customer service and average-comfort beds. It's really close to WDW, that's the main advantage of this hotel. Perfect if you don't want to pay a lot for your hotel and you are planning to pass. Most of your days enjoying Wdw or other activities in Orlando/Kissimmee.
