Maingate Lakeside Resort
- What's Included
It is my firm believe that every hotel in Orlando has (at least) one problem with their bathrooms, so I'm not judging too harshly on those. I was able to get a good price off LastMinuteTravel, so for what we needed the room for, it was suitable. The A/C could have worked better, but the nights were cold, so it was ok. Can't speak to any amenities; we used none.
Just one late night stay for a business. The website I used compared this resort to Hyatt and Sheraton quality but it was not the case. Front desk people were nice and very professional. There are 6 to 9 buildings were the rooms are. Only 2 floors high without elevator so if you have a lot of heavy luggage think twice. The room was big but looked like an old room that got poorly remodeled and with a weird odor, think they need to at least change the carpet. The bathroom was very small. The bed was okay but I had to check for bedbugs and I found some dead bugs (two) but didn’t care to report to management because I was too tired. It wasn’t noisy so that a plus for a good sleep. No free breakfast included. I would compare this hotel to DaysInn or Travelodge.
My stay at this hotel started out pretty bad. I was placed in a room way back in building 15. Where there is no wifi and seemed like there was no civilization. Only cockroaches. After complaining at front desk I was changed to the kinda better part of the hotel. From all the employees it was only Christine from the desk and Emilia from Housekeeping that made it worthwhile and off course E.B from Pizza Hut. Other than that most employees act and look pissed off all the time. They never answer the phones and for mobility scooter travelers the shuttle service will not accept you. I went through crap just to get on every time I needed to go to the parks. It was thxs to Christine that made it happen. The restaurant ladies were awesome. Make sure to ask for either building 1, 2 or 3. Which looked a bit remodeled. And it wasn’t cheap at all, seeing that I went in high season. Ohh and they had someone walking around asking for your email to send you a survey. Don’t bother, it was never send, so I have no idea what their purpose was. The location is great, Walgreens next door, CiCi’s next door, Wendy’s, Burger King. With a total remodel, this hotel would be great. And an intensive staff training.
Yes I was worried when I booked this place then read the reviews - but it couldn't be that bad - after all it was a Best Western wasn't it? Well, no, when we got here it was not a Best Western; perhaps it used to be? Anyway the room was clean enough unless you looked to carefully into the corners. The bedding and towels were clean, pretty new and replaced frequently. The toiletries and coffee were replaced copiously apart from the last but one night (different housekeeper I suspect but bang went their tip). The in-room safe was locked open and we had to tape the door shut to prevent bumping into it. The reception staff are indeed not very helpful, and the 'Resort Fee' is a rip off. I had expected to pay a few dollars a day, but it was actually $11/day, even though we didn't stay there for several nights. Other hotels nearby do not charge it, and they include a breakfast, Some other holidaymakers were very noisy and left take-away food bags lying around which were not cleared up very quickly. All in all it was cheap and fairly cheerful.
Hot lobby with no a/c , ghetto employees, long check in, 1 FD agent. Old rooms, hard beds, dirty bathrooms.. i am a hotel manager in miamiBeach and this is disgusting even for me whos in the industry. Jorgegonzalez7@gmail.com Is there a General Manager doing their job here?? Please email me.
