Radisson Resort Orlando Celebration
- What's Included
Don't be fooled by the Radisson name, this hotel is not anywhere near an upscale hotel and to call it a resort borders on false advertising. This hotel has fallen into the same disrepair that many of the original hotels that sprang up in Disney's early days have suffered. My family and I stayed in the 2000 building over an extended weekend Disney trip. Upon arrival the lobby impressed, with all the appearance of an upscale hotel. Our positive outlook was dashed when we entered our room. The bed was lumpy but comfortable. The bathroom was horrible. The sink was cracked, the faucet handle was improvised and did not work properly to change the water temperature. The bathtub was lined with rust. A line of rust also dripped from the fixture. The marble shower surround had seperated from the wall and instead of fixing it they simply squirted some liquid nails in the gap between the wall and the surround. On our second night we drove right through the security gate which was never closed, allowing anyone to enter. As we approached our parking lot we had to avoid a young man who was standing in the middle of the road screaming at no one specifically. Sometimes corporations just give up and don't make any effort to ensure their property is kept up, Radisson has either given up or forgotten this property. This is not even a two star property from what we experienced but our cost was very low so the hotel itself was a 1 star and the second star was given because they obviously know their property is not competitive so they offer their rates low. If you pay more than $60 a night you are being overcharged.
Second time here. Wife was here for a conference so we drove over from Tampa to join her. This visit we were in the 2000 Building. Seemed to be showing its age a bit. In need of some remodeling. An off smell to the room. AC was cold and worked well and the bed was comfortable. Did not eat on property. Has a nice pool. Staff we met were friendly. Parking spots can be hard to find, especially late at night. Avoid rooms near the elevator.
Beautiful place.... exterior entrance doors to building I stayed in did not lock but my room had new locks! Someone got sick on the sidewalk and it was not cleaned up by staff but over all, I would return because the value, location and front desk staff was great!
If you want a place just to sleep and then run away all day to Disney & Universal parks so that you spend MINIMAL time in this Radisson, it’s just barely adequate. If you plan to spend more time at the hotel, go somewhere else. First, a couple of good things. Stefan, the front desk attendant, was efficient, welcoming and witty. The hotel had really nice fluffy towels and wash cloths. Plus, I liked the bar soap they had in the bathroom. Now, the other stuff in no particular order: not so good. The decor in the rooms and hallways was late 1960s yuck with virtually no updating. The security door into our building never worked; that is, it could be opened by anybody at any time. The safe in our room would not lock and the very nice looking engineering staff member who came to fix it, couldn’t though I enjoyed watching him try. When we took our valuables to the lock boxes at the desk, the safe lock was wobbly and didn’t seem at all secure, but it was our best bet at that point. The pseudo-Starbucks in the lobby was unkempt and the staff were not knowledgeable or particularly competent; they did, at least, wish me a happy day. The elevator in our building creaked and groaned in Dickensian agony and it’s door took what seemed like 20 minutes to close. And about the pictures attached here: We were delighted with the “arrangement” gracing the shelf under the mirror in the elevator lobby: the empty potato chip wrappers were nice but we loved the mostly empty Hooters cups. The light fixtures in our bathroom seemed liked they were adorned with dead bugs but upon closer inspection I realized that a sloppy paint job had resulted in splotches of ugly beige paint left on the light sconces. Though I didn’t remember to take a picture, I thought the mildewed grout in the bathroom was a nice touch. The beds were actually ok. :-)
Great hotel at a great price. 4 pools! Well kept rooms. Pool bar has nice cold beer. Close to everything you need... shopping great resteraunts and grocery stores. Lounge opens at 5pm. 20% off the breakfast buffet! Great staging point for all your orlando adventures
