Star Island Resort and Club
- What's Included
OverviewThis all suite property is ideal for extended stays or quick weekend getaways. Location: Kissimmee
I've been coming to Star Island for a couple of years now and do not regret it one bit. My son and I look forward to going all the time. It's a family friendly resort with something for everyone. I love being by the pool because my son can play and swim while I relax and enjoy a nice beverage from the pool bar. This place has many activities for kids of all ages through the day and the DJ always has good music. In the evenings you have karaoke and other activities in the upstairs bar. The rooms are cleaned and fulled stocked for your stay. It never gets crowded which is good a thing. Very close to Disney parks and not far from Universal Studios which is great. Many places to choose from to eat around the resort as there is no on site dining. Highly recommend this resort.
I had this vacation planned. You are not prepared for storms or hurricanes. The power went off, you don't have a backup generator. Some buildings had lights, ours didn't. There's no lights on the stairs since the elevator was not working.
This was our second time staying at Star Island. Check in was smooth and after, then sent us to the "vacation ownership" table to get our parking pass. They try to get you to sign up for a vacation presentation, but weren't too pushy once I said no. The room was beautiful! We were so impressed! Plenty of supplies for the whole week. This resort just has that WOW factor. It's our go to resort in Orlando!
We had planned our vacation months ahead as most people do and it just happened to be the week Hurricane Irma went up to Orlando. The staff was very accommodating. We last power in our building for about a day and a half. They had generators for the lobby and had coffee for anyone who wanted it. They also had a microwave available for people to use. They were very quick at cleaning up the pool so we could get on with our vacation.
I visited the resort last week with my three kids. The room was clean. I loved that there was separate rooms, a kitchen, etc. what I did not like was the false representation of information. The first being, after driving for hours to get to the resort, I was looking forward to their happy hour between 5 and 7 PM at the pool. I was looking forward to the kids playing in the water and my getting to finally relax. We got to the hotel and then pool area around 6:15 PM the bar was completely closed up outside. I went inside and asked about it and I was told it was open from 5 to 7. I stated that I had just been outside and it was closed. They responded with "yes that usually closes around this time". Well that did not make a lot of sense. Our second let down was my daughter always looks forward to hotels that have someone doing hair wraps/temp tattoos. The hotel gave out a flyer stating that they had this service. When asked on Wednesday about this, the front desk said the person would be there the next morning between 10-11 am. That night my daughter saved her money in order to get the wrap on Thursday. Thursday morning came and no one showed. I again went to the front office and was told that that person does not come during the week, only on weekends. Again we were given false information. I could keep going with the disappointments, but I will not.
