Star Island Resort and Club
- What's Included
OverviewThis all suite property is ideal for extended stays or quick weekend getaways. Location: Kissimmee
My family and I recently returned from Orlando/ Kissimmee and stayed at Star Island, we had called ahead and ask if our unit was ready and no was the answer but you can go by the resort and check in and then they text or call when unit is available, so we did that and went to the outlet mall a few miles away and they text and we went straight to unit, at the check in portion, very friendly and you usually are asked about a presentation, It wasn't mentioned, the lobby is very nice and leads out to the pool 2 very large pools, an adult beverage stand and hot dog stand and several things out there, the resort has tennis courts, a golf driving range, it is about 75 yards but it has complimentary balls from 8:30-9:30 about 25 balls, mini golf course, the resort has many activities to do if you don't want to go to see that mouse or taking a day off. The unit was on the sixth floor, we had a 2 bedroom, it was very large and clean, the unit was a one bedroom with a studio as second bedroom, we have two children so they used the studio, twin beds and a small living room for them, large kitchen and master was large and has a jacuzzi tub and a nice balcony but no real view, overall a nice unit. The resort is located on Bronson highway, lots of shopping and restaurants, it has a TGI Fridays at the turn into the resort, public supermarket is about 1/2 mile away, Walmart is about 10 minutes and super target is 10 minutes away, shopping outlets about 15 minutes, we had passes for Seaworld and it was about 20 to 30 minutes dependent on traffic. We had no real issues with Star Island at all, the only things were small, tv reception was horrible, we weren't in unit that much but when we were the tv was on and the couch because it had cushions that had to be slid in every time you say down and the top cushions as well, but those are nit pick items overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it and would stay again in the future.
Property is convenient to all major Orlando area attractions. Friendly staff. Made reservation through Armed Forces Vacation Club so not required to attend time share presentation - coordinator understood this and was not pushy which has not been true at other resorts. One pool was a little cloudy towards end of stay so we did not use it. Mini golf course was ant infested.
I recently spent a 3 day weekend at Star Island Resort with my two boys and wife to celebrate my wife's ##th birthday. Everyone had a great time. My kids ended up playing in a USTA tennis tournament that was being played at the resort, and they had the best time. Kevin who is the Director of Tennis at Star Island, ran an amazing tournament. We are all looking forward to going back to the resort in the very near future.
All personnel encountered during this weeklong visit were pleasant, attentive and willing to help out as needed. Teenagers unsupervised in pool area were jumping off rock in middle of the pool. Outward appearance of landscaping showed lack of maintenance of grass, as well as dead palm fronds which were not cut out, but allowed to turn brown and make the trees look sick. For the maintenance fees paid annually, am disappointed in overall experience.
My husband and I booked this resort for January 07 - 14, 2017. We were pleasantly surprised how clean and well decorated our suite was and how close it was to everything we wanted to visit. We only got to enjoy for 2 days do to the death of my mother in law back home. We will stay here again with out a doubt.
