Aston Shores at Waikoloa
- What's Included
The grounds of this property is gorgeous & the location is perfect! We were in unit 216. It was very spacious for our family of 6, loved the big lanai, but I wished we had a view of the ocean & we did have some issues. The decor is very dated. The beds were VERY uncomfortable. My younger 2 kids slept on the sofa bed, which was broken. Most of the dishes were dirty so we had to wash everything before using it. The staff was nice, but it seems like they have a lot of rules & fees at this place. We stayed at Aston Kaanapali in Maui & it was like a luxurious resort where they went above & beyond! But this Aston was more like a retirement village, where you're pretty much on your own. The lady at the front desk was very nice & helpful - she gave us some gifts our last day when she found out it was our 20th Anniversary, very sweet! The ocean is supposed to be a short walk away, but it's a pretty rough walk & the water is beautiful but you can't really get in here. It's good for walking on the rocks & exploring. The Queens Market & Kings Shops are nearby - very nice & convenient (grocery store at Queens). Despite the few issues, we had a wonderful vacation on the Big Island. Our favorite thing was zip lining at Umauma Experience! Also Hapuna Beach was about 10 min away & was very nice!
We stayed at Aston's Shores at Waikoloa. Best part of the complex is it's proximity to shopping and restaurants. As for the unit itself, we stayed in #131, which is a first floor unit. It's a one bedroom, but there is a fold out sofa that can accommodate more. The problem was the noise. We could hear the people above us walking around and moving furniture, but even more irritating was that we could hear the plumbing each time our upstairs neighbors used the bathroom. Turned out this was quite a bit. We had to ask for extra bathroom soap as we were only provided one complimentary bar to share for 3 days. The bath towels were scratchy and the pillows were hard. The bed was too soft for my admittedly sensitive back. Kitchen provisions were adequate if you want to cook. The building itself is in need of updating. Not terrible but you can do better.
We stayed from 2/22/2017 through 2/28/17.We arrived after dark,It was a bit difficult to locate. We called the front desk and Danette guided us to the property, she stayed with us on the phone for approximately ten minutes until we drove up to the front desk. The property is beautiful, the staff is friendly especially Danette.we had a great vacation.
This is the first time we stayed on this property, the staff was friendly and helpful, pool was beautiful. We were a little disappointed in our condo, it was rather dated. The dishwasher did not work so ended up doing dishes by hand, frankly the dishes in the cupboards were not that clean, we actually washed them before we used them! The hair dryer had cobwebs in it ugh!. They did have free movies (although we did have a to pay a $10 a day resort fee). My husband is very technical and had trouble trying to figure out the PS3 game console that was being used to play DVDs and it quit working on the last night we were there. The grounds were beautiful just wished our condo looked as nice, who ever owes this needs to do some major updating! We have always stayed at the Fairway Villas but could not get the dates that we needed so booked the Shores, we will probably never come back to this property if we can get a condo someplace else. The appliances were really old also, had some issues with the coffee maker. The lanai was very nice we did enjoy eating outside.
Fantastic, large apartment and a lovely resort. Easy to get to and great if you want some interesting, scenic runs. Grocery shop on the resort is a little pricey but well stocked. Apartment itself is well appointed and clean and staff helpful.
