Very Nice Stay, Make sure you have access codes if you plan to arrive after 8 pm

Our family of 4 stayed in 17B for 7 nights. Ground floor unit less than 5 min walk from the health club which has pool, gym and dining facilities. We spotted many whales just sitting in the club, they are rather far away but still a thrill for us. Bring a pair binoculars to get a good view. The unit is very clean with all the kitchen utensils for cooking and baking. They supply towels, shampoo...etc, laundry detergent x 1, dish washer detergent x 2 and hand dish washing liquid/sponge which are refillable by calling the reception. We had a bit of a hiccup when we arrived at 10 pm, the office closes at 8 pm and neither the Resort nor e-mailed us the access code for the main gate and apartment till we called Calling the Emergency number at the resort is useless as they have no access to the reservations, the guy I called was really trying to help but could not do anything as he was in Maui, another island altogether!. Make sure you have the access codes if you plan to arrive late.

Unit 11B

What an exceptional property! Bottom floor unit facing #7 of Waikoloa Beach Course and oceanview, this two BR two Bath unit was well equipped and very comfortable. At the end of the cul-de-sac next to the pools and bar, a very short walk compared to unit 1 at far end of street. Shopping, restaurants and entertainment, along with two resort style golf courses within 5 minute drive. No negatives.

Unit 11a

We stayed in unit 11a, which was in very good shape. We were originally assigned a different unit that had a bad review, so we called and asked to see photos of the unit. After a few phone calls where we indicated our level of trepidation was high enough for us to consider cancelling and rebooking elsewhere, we were reassigned to this unit. It is currently for sale, so we were able to see pictures online that reassured us. That probably accounts for the good condition of the property as well. 11a is highly recommended at this time. However, I overheard a woman on a neighboring porch calling to complain about the state of their unit - filthy, 7 burned out bulbs, a/c not working, missing screens, blinds broken, and so on. So it seems as though there is a tremendous amount of variability between units. The pool is small and shallow, but we got a day room one day at the Hilton to avail ourselves of their pools ($160+ taxes etc.) This worked out well for us, since we were mostly on the go. There is a foot path over to the Hilton. The food on property is not very good, but we have found good food to be hard to come by in general. Annie's is hands down our top recommendation - we ate there twice and enjoyed both meals.

Great location and quiet environment

We really enjoyed our stay in unit 24D at Halii Kai. The unit was clean and easily fit two teenagers and two adults. The complex is very quiet and secure so you can send the kids out on their own with no worries. Most of the units have no views. The pool and bar area were great with phenomenal views of the ocean. The bartender was super friendly and the food, though mostly American food was good, especially the poke and quesadillas. Owners were also friendly and welcoming to us renters! Location is adjacent to two golf courses and the Marriott and Hilton both of which are huge and have many amenities. Public beach at the Marriott was 5 minutes away and rented kayaks and SUPs plus we did a great snorkel trip with ocean adventures right off the beach. Volcano national park is a 2 hour drive and a little far for a day trip. We stayed one night in volcano village at Lotus Garden and a day and a half at the park was plenty. Overall I would recommend Halii Kai if you are looking for a quiet condo well located and close to the beach and golf.
