Castle Halii Kai at Waikoloa
- What's Included
Lovely property. Everything was awesome and perfect! Nice layout, great views, beautiful lanai. The pool and workout facility overlooking ocean are a treat. Tennis courts were used by our family daily. Close to 3 shopping centers to pick up groceries, grab a bite, have dinner and take in a walk.We stayed in unit 8D. There are about 200 units in the gated development. Units have washer and dryer, full kitchen with coffee pot, microwave, oven, stove top, full size refrigerator and more. The lanais opened up on a beautiful golf course along with a spectacular ocean view. The sunsets were absolutely amazing. From the time we called the property manager Resortica Hawaii Inc. with a question through booking and our stay, everything was handled extremely well. Great communication from a team that really cares.Beach, Hilton hotel, various tours to national park, coffee and vanilla farms, great restaurants, pool, tennis and more are some activities we did this year.Readers should note that every unit is individually owned and other units may not have the same attention to detail. We booked through ResorticaHawaii.com Inc. who were super friendly, responsive to requests and have an office a few blocks away. This place is so beautiful and peaceful. The pool and beach club is resort quality and the grounds are so beautifully manicured. Staff is very friendly. Pool area has clean bathrooms and towel service for you to use while at the pool. We can't wait to come back!
Wow, not sure where to start after our recent awful experience. First off, the unit itself, managed by Abbey rentals was really nice, as were the grounds, pool area and Hali Kai staff. The Hali Kai overall was a decent resort. Abbey rentals, the company responsible for our particular unit was negligent. We had a laundry list of problems that went completely ignored. Abbey rentals was non existent as an entity during our stay with one problem after the other, from TVs that never worked, WiFi that never worked, RECURRENTLY tripping electrical circuit which caused us power outages in the kitchen and the kids bathroom and bedrooms. I emailed, called several different lines, and went to the front desk of the Hali Kai with these issues and no one could help. Wait, I forgot to say that my sons sheets were DIRTY AND BLOODY on arrival at midnight the first night, so I get to unpack my boys and change sheets our first night while they're really just needing to slip into a clean bed. I did get into contact with them for that and they were sort of "oh" about it. I'm no prima donna but hey, dirty unchanged sheets covered in Blood? Bad News. This company clearly didn't give care an iota about our experience after we paid our $3,000 to them. Sad really. YES ON THE HALI KAI, NO ON ABBEY RENTALS. Still, one month later, never even an "I'm sorry" for the miserable service. We left a tshirt there, an important one to my daughter, and they never returned it to us.
The accommodations here were great. The view overlooking the golf course and the ocean was truly incredible. I came with my family, and we enjoyed how the hotel is spread across a large area. We rarely saw or heard other guests at the hotel.
We were told 3 days before arrival that the upgraded condo we were originally assigned was not available due to the owners arriving. So were were moved to another 3 bed 3 bath unit. Upon arrival we discovered that the condos AC unit was not working. Called the office to have it looked at. The original maintenance man came and said he would let the office know that he could not fix it and they would have to call the actual AC repair. He said that the office would call us and let us know what would happen. Thirty minutes later we still had not heard from the office. So my husband and I walked to the office to check on the situation. The original maintenance person had never gone back to the office to alert them. He went home instead. They did call the AC repair place and that guy was a real hero. He was there until 9:00 PM fixing the unit. Plus a drive to and from Kona for parts. This particular unit in building 7 was so so. The view is amazing. Looks out towards the ocean. But the inside could use some tlc. We have previously stayed in this exact unit 3 years ago. The office informed us that the unit had been upgraded since our first stay. But other than new paint it was pretty much the same. The carpets are in need of replacement. The dining table chairs are peeling. And we only had 3 of the four that should have been there. So seating 5 of us for meals inside was a challenge. All of the bathroom doors stuck or didn't stay closed. The bath downstairs had a sink that didn't drain. And the shower curtain was molded. The master bath shower sprays water outside the shower unless you turn on the water from inside the shower with the door closed. Which isnt fun when its cold water to begin with. There was not maid service mid way - as we have had here in the past- so I washed towels and we had to go down to the office to get more dishwasher soap. Not a lot of extra paper towels or toilet paper. The grounds of this resort are beautiful and the pool is very nice. The workout room is nice and views the ocean. The restaurant on site is adequate for drinks and food. The resort is very quiet and peaceful. Nice location for restaurants and groceries. I would say over all that we have like the resort far more in the upgraded condos. I don't feel that we were mistreated but the response of the office was not great and having a unit where there was no air upon arrival was difficult. I am not sure that going forward it would be our first choice.
These are all privately owned condos. We booked a room through our travel agent. We required a room with a minimum of 5 beds. To our horror when we finally got access to our room(Housekeeping needed another 1hr after checkin to finish up) we found it to only 4 beds. (2 doubles) There was no where for my daughter to sleep. There was however folded in a plastic bag at the door an airbed with another plastic bag next to it containing linen.(How where we even meant to blow the airbed up?) We were not camping and i found an airbed quiet the insult for an expensive stay. After a quick call to reception (who was lovely) a solution to our problem was found and we were moved to another room, that had sufficient beds. Our room was very comfortable and large. The kitchen was well appointed. The bathrooms large, but needed a really good clean. The pool area was a nice place to relax although a bit of a hike to get to it. This place is quiet large. Overall this is a nice place. Would i stay here again probably not.
