Never thought I’d go to the big island. Went to Maui every time. This was different and I must say it was well worth it. The Fairmont Orchid is a wonderful property. Great rooms and a nice easy going pace around the hotel. I’d go back every time.
Thank you to this group of people from the time we checked in to our departure for delivering a superb experience. Loved the spacious room, food options and overall amenities. Cannot wait for our next visit.
The Fairmont Orchid was on outstanding stay. Fantastic room, great pool, outstanding beach - what more could you want? How about fantastic food at Brown's Beach House restaurant, and a great golf course at Mauna Lani next door. A must see on the Big Island.
I’ve stayed at the Fairmont in Sonoma and thought that was awesome but this one was even better. The staff works tirelessly and are so friendly and helpful, they made my conference/vacation seem like a Real vacation. The room was excellent. the beach was outstanding. The food was superb.Worth the $$$$$
My husband and I were arriving late and we wanted to have a "no worries" stay so we booked the Orchid due to the great reviews and pictures. We wanted to unwind immediately with no risk that is why we paid $700 for a night. It turned out to be the night from hell for me. It was not the fact that we couldn't see the water from our "upgraded" room...it was the fact that the air-conditioner could not bring the room below 71 degrees. Which I am sure is fine for a lot of people but I am at that stage in my life that I am willing to pay $700 for a night that I am arriving at 11pm to be able to sleep in a cool room!!! I was miserable!!! The front desk offered to bring in a fan, but that is not going to cool a room it will move the air around. They wanted to send a technician but my husband was sleeping and didn't want to be disturbed when I asked. The air was working...it just was not getting the room below 71 degrees! Mind you this is not a large room we are talking about..it was the size of your typical average hotel room. I ended up having to go outside by myself and try to sleep on a day bed that was uncomfortable and kind of embarrassing with people walking by...it happened to be the night of the super moon so lots of people were outside but with the clouds you couldn't really see anything. So if you need to sleep in a cool room. THIS IS NOT YOUR PLACE!!! However, if you can sleep in a 70 degree room. The grounds are beautiful and the breakfast buffet was wonderful. I would give those two things 5 stars! When we checked out the next day the room had gotten down to 70 degrees...Too hot for me at this stage in my life....
