Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel
- What's Included
We arrived to find the hotel was undergoing a complete reconstruction - no restaurants were open, the pool was drained and there was loud construction noises throughout the day. Neither the hotel or Expedia took responsibility for the failure to advise us (despite the hotel owners claiming in a reply to an Oct 3 review raising the same criticism they were taking every step to inform future guests). The staff were entirely indifferent to the disappointment and it is difficult not to feel like we were taken for a ride. I'm sure the renovations will be amazing once they are completed but I would caution against giving money to a hotelier who has shown such disregard for their guests' experience.
We booked this hotel due to discount rate and only needed it for one night as we had a later flight in and was rather close...or we thought. At the time of booking at the site nothing was on there about the renovations going on and there is plenty. The main lobby area, pool and several hallways are closed off and there is a maze of hallways and elevators you need to take to get anywhere including the beach....got lost a few times. The rooms are nice and clean with comfortable beds. The one thing this property has is the awesome beach. From what I heard from employees renovations could go through to next May. I certainly wouldn't stay here for anything long term but once renovations are done this could be a really nice resort with a awesome beach.
Once this resort is remodeled, it will be fabulous and 5 stars. But wait until then and save your hard earned money. We were so very disappointed to be placed 3 doors away from major construction at this resort and in an old worn out room. We had 2 deluxe ocean view rooms. We could hear jackhammers and tractors all day long throughout the resort, on the beach and in our room. The hotel management was extremely nice to us and they did their best to make our stay as pleasant as possible, but in my humble opinion this resort should be shut down for a couple of months to complete the construction. The only place to get food at this resort was the pool bar and that didn't cut it for 6 days. Please see my pictures attached. So sad for us so please don't you make the same mistake! Stay somewhere else nice, like Mauna Loa and use the public section of this beautiful beach.
We had planned to stay here for the first time in Hawaii for our 5 year anniversary. We had to cancel and stay at another hotel... it's not small renovations... it's the whole hotel! This should be noted everywhere with photos. I wouldn't stay here until it's done.
We booked this hotel after having a bad experience with Airbnb in the other side of the island in Hilo. This was 3 years ago in 2014.To our surprised, it was absolutely spectacular, with an amazing view, delicious breakfast and romantic villas. We wanted to stayed here for the rest of our vacations but the plan took us to Maui. I'll definitely stay again and recommend this hotel 100%
