Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel
- What's Included
I hope the hotel stays as quiet and relaxing as ever. Carpet was a bit dated but I don't care. We had a great time. The whole family enjoyed it. Beachery was great too. Little pricey but worth it for the location and atmosphere.
Hotel location was nice. Loved the fact that it was right on the beach. Valet parking was extremely easy and they recognized us and even knew our names which made the retrieval of car super fast! One thing which could be improved would be if the pool was open later than sunset. Also if there were better dining options available.
Our family takes one vacation a year together - we are a family of 4, with an 18 year old son and a 14 year old daughter. We book two rooms, nearby but not necessarily adjoining. Our kids share a room - and we (husband and wife ) share one room. Driving from the airport to the hotel, we made the right turn at the sign to the hotel. Our hearts individually sunk - as we saw ourselves traveling away from the coast, But.... wait, the road curves, and then goes under the freeway - we all breathed a sigh of relief! And then we arrived at the hotel. The lobby of this hotel speaks wonders. It is open, majestic, and the views out to the beach are magnificent. I understand that the lobby and other parts of the hotel are going to be renovated soon - and perhaps the front desk is not fancy - but honestly - if you came to Hawaii for the beauty, you need not look at anything but that view!! At the the front desk we were greeted by Virgil. He was lovely, and helpful and gave us some tropical punch and some tote bags - and Virgil went out of his way to make suggestions about room upgrades to accommodate our family. While we chose to keep the original room assignment, we appreciated the ability to see the options. Virgil was terrific! When we did go to our rooms, we were very pleased with the layout. The oceanfront king was just as we had hoped! It was spacious, well laid out, and had a fantastic terrace with stunning views of the beach by day, and the stars by night. Sometimes you read this in the hotel description but it somehow falls short - Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel did NOT fall short at all!! However, we were told at some point that the beachfront wing that our rooms were located in are scheduled to become timeshares soon, so I am not sure if - after August 2017, these same rooms will be available to the general public. You may want to ask, as the next rooms with the views were up a hill, and did not have direct beach access from their building. Views - yes. We utilized the refrigerator by keeping snacks , drinks and after-sun lotions inside. Many of these things we purchased at the shops located on sight. They were well stocked and had great options! In the rooms there were movies for everyone to rent, and the bed was very comfortable. The other room - with the two beds, was even better! Their bathroom had been updated and it was slightly better appointed. The housekeeping service was always outstanding! They refilled our ice buckets constantly (there are no ice machines) and always made us feel happy to return to the room after we had been out for the day. Everyone was helpful, polite and happy! The breakfast buffet is fine. The fruits were perfect everyday - the potato of the day was always different and delicious, and the pastries fresh and diverse. My daughter had several omelettes during the stay and enjoyed them very much. The asian selections were a welcome addition - as we incorporate many of these in our own diets when at home. In fact, the first day we were excited to see there was dim sum but alas, we did not see it again during our stay. We had the pleasure of enjoying a dinner at the Coast Grille and it was delicious and the service was wonderful. The beach at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel is very special! It is a perfect cove for swimming and the snorkeling on the outer edge is excellent, My son took out a kayak and in one hour saw sea turtles, and all sorts of fish. The pool bar was perfect! They made all sorts of fabulous island drinks - Mai Tais were delicious. We did not use the pool but only because we have a pool at home but we do not have an ocean at home, so spent our time in the sea. While there were plenty of families at this hotel, there was never any feeling that there were too many little kids and/or diapers or anything at all like that. There was an equal mix of families, singles, pairs, etc. One of the reasons we had chosen this hotel was because it seemed like a good mix. Indeed it was. While we did not use the pool, we did indeed use the pool bar! The menu at the bar was also spot on - there was something for everyone at each of the meal periods. Besides the beach, If you have a car and are able to travel outside the hotel, we recommend taking day trips outside the hotel, as this island has some of the most incredible sights on the planet. One such trip we took was to the summit of Mauna Kea - where we were able to catch the setting sun on top of the world. In fact, when we got back to the hotel after a very very long day of sightseeing, we knew that we were going to miss the chance of room service. When we got back to the hotel late, I asked Greg at the front desk if there was any way to get anything at all to eat ( our kids were super hungry) and he said that while nothing was open, he offered us sandwiches and snacks that he brought out from the office. It was exactly what they needed and we were very grateful. It was just another example of the staff really caring about your comfort and trying to make things perfect. So if you are not up for leaving the hotel and you just want to hang out and enjoy the moment on Hawaii without anything else, the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel is the perfect choice!
We had an amazing stay here for our honeymoon! Not a lot of resorts on the big island offer a beach like this! The hotel was very nice, the staff were all wonderful, and the food and drinks were great. The breakfast Buffett absolutely knocked out socks off! We will return!
We stayed at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel for our anniversary and could not have asked for a better time. Great views from our ocean front room, friendly staff and a wonderful dinner at the Coast Grille. Highly recommend.
