Great location - no longer family friendly! We have stayed at this property consistently once or twice a year for the past six years. Waikoloa beach resort is a fantastic area within walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants and is a great place to start road trips to Hilo, Volcano, the North side of the island and many incredible beaches. The units are nice and the owner we work with is fantastic. The grounds are well maintained. There is a new condo board and no children under 12 are permitted in the hot tub. This is a new rule. The pool is cool depending on the time of year. There is now a Pool Monitor (not a lifeguard) who records pool usage in a log and makes notes if any kids go near the hot tub. Residents also monitor and make families feel very unwelcome just for having kids at the pool area. It is very odd and a completely different experience from past years when we always felt welcome and everyone was very friendly. It feels like a +55 property now. We met some great people by the BBQ' s and pool in the past. We will be thinking twice about returning or recommending this property again. It is a shame that the culture can shift so dramatically. Still a great place for couples or older children. I would not recommend for families. There are other great properties close by such as Waikoloa Beach, Hilton and others. Very disappointing!
This is our second time booking our Big Island stay through Costco at the Fairway Villas. It's a smoking-hot deal for a week, airfare and car rental. We picked the perfect travel companions and had a blast. We stayed here the second time because the first time, we enjoyed the beautiful two bedroom condo overlooking Hole #6. It was clean, well furnished and suited our needs perfectly. We love the easy access to grills, the pool and the nice short walk to the beach. Since we have been here last, they've added another cluster of shops and some interesting restaurants and stores. The Lava Lava Beach Club should not be missed for a sunset. We stayed in unit B31 and it's one thing when hotel rooms, time shares or condos need an upgrade. It's another when we're asked to take off our shoes throughout the unit and our feet turn gray and that was our first day!!We never did take our shoes off until we went to bed. The carpet in this unit is DISGUSTING!! The sheets in the master bedroom are ripped and so is the comforter. The dryer was full of sand and left little lint balls on everything! The couch and chairs are in dire need of new cushions and covering.I know I'm knit picking, but what in the world is our Resort Fee on top of the package price paying for .....COME ON OUTRIGGER.Quiet time is posted and asked to be respected from 10 pm to 8 am, but that doesn't stop the golf course from mowing the lawn or maintenance taping and covering gates and entrances BEFORE 8 am!Outriggers offers you a place to stay - has a great partnership with Costco making it affordable, even for a one-income family - but not much else do they help with.Their office is not well marked and kind of hard to find; they don't offer any services for those with mobility difficulties as a travel companion has baggage and has no way of getting from the units to the Kings shops so she can hang out after the 11 am check out of the unit her 7 pm shuttle service to the airport.....I'm stating this because think ahead if you're not renting a car.Hawaii is wonderful, plan accordingly and where you stay is just one of the many aspects of your trip.
Our travel agent booked our villa here for us. We were two couples travelling together and had a two bedroom/two bathroom villa. I almost cancelled the week before because I thought we'd be better on the other side of the Island, closer to the waterfalls and volcano. Never been so pleased with a cancellation clause in my life. We only had three nights here and the villa was fantastic. Probably a better equipped kitchen than my own at home, spacious, spotless with great complex amenities. Spacious living area and so well equipped. Would be great for a family too. I wish we had longer to just laze around and enjoy the location. Local supermarket had a fabulous selection and was within walking distance. Can't recommend highly enough.
Well the PAC 12 Women's Golfers were back in Hawaii It was a great 5 days here at the Waikoloa Fairway Villas the grounds are lovely and the villas were fully equipped with full kitchen 2 & 3 bathrooms living and dining room, washer and dryer 1 bedroom downstairs and 2 upstairs in K4 there were flat screen TVs free Wifi 2 Linis close to the pool, hot tub, BBQ area, the gym and across the street Starbucks and a host of other shops. We loved this place.
We loved the Fairway Villas! This place is right in the Waikoloa beach resort area and within walking distance of the Kings Shops and Queens Marketplace. Minutes away from a beautiful beach (A Bay) that's a great place to relax or watch the sunset. We actually liked that it was about 30 minutes out of Kona. Close enough to get there easily, far enough away to be out of the bustle of the city.We loved the unit. It was very spacious and had high ceilings. We had plenty of room to relax. The furnishings in the unit we stayed in were really nice. The kitchen had decent space for some cooking and was nice and updated. The living room was big and had some nice furniture to relax on. The bedroom and bathroom were awesome as well with a king size bed, dual sinks, a shower and separate soaking tub and a walk-in closet with tons for space for everything. The washer and dryer in the unit was awesome. We packed much lighter because we could do laundry as much as we wanted. The grounds were really nice and well kept. We were right on a golf course so it was actually pretty beautiful to look out and see the green grass and all of the palm trees. The swimming pool was big and fun to be in. We went in September. There was plenty of parking available and the swimming pool was rarely over-used. The cleaning fee was a little steep but even after you factor that in, it was relatively moderately priced for a place in the Waikoloa beach resort - especially something with so many amenities and so much space.Overall this place is awesome and we would absolutely stay again!
