We booked directly with the owner via VRBO. Each unit is individually owned and the quality of th furnishing depends upon the owner. N24 is a great unit and the owners Nick and Anna are great to deal with. You can find their VRBO listing and check the photos for yourself. The lanai has a great view of the 4th tee of the Beaches course and overlooks the lagoon and Kings Shops. You also have mountain views and the sunset. The unit also has lots of beach gear including chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, coolers and snorkle gear. The wifi is fast, flatscreens in all rooms with lots of channels and best of all for me free long distance calling to Canada and the US. The Fairway Villas is located at the Waikoloa Beach Resort. There is an excellent shopping, restaurants and Anaeho'omalu Bay beach is nearby. There is a decent pool and fitness center. The pool in April was warm, but the air temp at this time was over 85 degrees F. I cannot speak for the other units, but I would recommend N24.
Stayed with my family for 4 nights. The condo we stayed in was 2 bedrooms. It was spacious and clean but perhaps a little dated. Everything was on hand and they have lifts in every complex for rooms on higher levels. It has a small gym and a small pool which you have keys to get into. There is 2 shopping centres Kings and Queens. Kings is smaller just down the road from complex and Queens is across the road which is a lot bigger. The queens supermarket is better than the kings one and has a lot more choice. Daylight mind restaurant in Queens is lovely for breakfast and in Kings the fish and chip place is good. If you want good music and food at night if you walk along the beach to the Lava Lava club its wonderful (for lunch as well.) The beach hires snorkels and flippers by the hour and a few other activities .The Grand Circle Island tour is a must as it shows you a lot of the island and you visit many places Very Central accommodation would stay again
Probably the worst accommodations we have ever stayed in. Both my husband I travelled extensively in our careers and have vacationed in many, many places. Thus, we have a lot of experience and knowledge of hotels, inns and vacation resorts. I would describe the Fairway Villas accommodations as dreary, dated, long overdue for a face lift, dusty, and certainly far, far from spotless.Here are some of the problems we encountered.• Elevator to the condo was not very clean and sides and door were very beat up from luggage going in and out.• The outside walkways were in need of cleaning. And, there were a lot of bird droppings on the stairs on the second floor landing.• Carpet was old, worn and stained/spotted in all carpeted area.• Unit smelled stale when we entered.• The most uncomfortable mattresses we have ever slept on anywhere. Stiff coil spring construction, very thin, little or no layers of padding. King was two twins put together. • Mold on the shower floor tiles• Stained toilets and rusty pluming behind the toilet in the master bedroom• Dozens of ants crawling along the kitchen baseboard and on the stove. They did spray with pesticide while we were there, but that required us to be out of the unit for a least two hours. This took care of most of them, but we still would see a few crawling around on the stove cooktop each day of our stay.• Tired small pillows on the bed that had stains when we removed the pillowcases• Dirty, roughed up baseboard trim that needed a fresh coat of paint• Dirty, dusty storage/closet that a simple coat of new paint would have freshened up• Black marks all over the bedroom walls from luggage• Front door that was peeling and rotting on the bottom with old bee’s nests in the top windows. • The locking device on the front door used an old-fashioned metal key. This type of key can easily be copied, so this did not make us feel too secure. To the best of our recollection, the metal door key turned the only lock to the door which was a deadbolt and this could be opened from the outside when locked from the inside. Because of the metal key, we always felt the need to take our valuables with us when we left the room. Needless, to say this was very inconvenient. Also, we did not feel very secure at night when we were asleep. The units need to be upgraded to an electronic locking system.• Sliding screen had holes around the pull used to open it. They did replace the screen when we complained about it• Dimly lit kitchen. Low-wattage incandescent and fluorescents were used rather than recessed spot lights. We had to have a light bulb replaced in one of the recessed canisters and asked why they were not using spotlights instead. The maintenance person said that they were using the bulbs they were provided and nothing else was available.• Old refrigerator from 2001. The ice maker had a metal auger that was badly rusted and the back connections to the icemaker were also rusty. The racks in the freezer also had visible rust. When we told the rental office about it, they sent someone over who wanted to sand down the auger. A rusted auger and rust through the water dispensing system can potentially present health hazards. The metal on the auger was compromised and could result in bacteria forming and metals being present in the ice and drinking water. The unit is badly in need of a new refrigerator.We had to buy bagged ice at the store which they offered to reimburse us for. And during our stay I managed to cut myself on a rough edge in the refrigerator and had to go to Urgent Care to get a Tetanus shot. This visit took almost three-quarters of a day from our vacation.• Wire mesh in dryer was ripped and had sharp edges. My daughter in-law actually scratched herself on this.• Dirty wall switches• Dirt on the door around the master bedroom door knob• Porcelain worn off around the drains of the bathroom sinks• Wi-Fi in unit was on an open unsecured network when we arrived. We told the rental office that this was unacceptable. They did install a new router that provided a secured network. Again, more vacation time lost getting things done around the unit.• Furniture and accessories were very worn and tired. Lamps were very dusty. The cushions on the sofa when turned over were very dirty—gray and grimy. Most hotels update soft goods every five years and the kitchens and baths are completely redone at 10 years. Definitely no updating in this unit.• Dusty, flimsy blinds in bedrooms and kitchen• Poorly equipped kitchen. Limited number of pots and pans, incomplete sets of measuring spoons and cups, dull, dull knives, coffee maker that was difficult to pour from without spilling liquid all over the counter, etc.• Kitchen cabinets had not been well taken care of and were worn, dusty, and had dried spills down the fronts, etc. The lazy susan shelves where the pots and pans were stored were stained and greasy.• Plastic laminate on dishwasher was peeling and the inside hinges were rusty• Garbage disposal backed up and it took over seventeen hours to get it fixed. It had been making a racket since the time we arrived and the maintenance person removed some big, yukky stuff that obviously had been jammed in it before our arrival. So, it didn’t take much for it to clog up. Couldn’t run the dishwasher until the disposal was fixed since that would have caused the sink to overflow.• Air conditioning unit sat on lanai. Very noisy and unpleasant to sit there when it was running. Also, air conditioning unit appears to be the original one installed when the condo was built. Very rusted.• HVAC vent grates were very rusty and looked like they were in need of replacing.We tried for hours and hours to find other accommodations in the area, but everything was booked for many of our vacation dates since it was high season in Hawaii. We finally were able to find other accommodations in the Wailkoloa area the last week of our vacation. We snapped these up and checked out of the Fairway Villas. Our newly found condo was amazing—nice, clean, updated and it was only$10 more a night.Beware the Fairway Villas if Outrigger is the rental manager. VRBO is the option to use if you choose to go to the Fairway Villas. We would never stay at the Fairway Villas Waikoloa by Outrigger or any other Outrigger property for that matter again.
We booked our stay thru Costco Travel and Outrigger. The complex is clean and well maintained on the outside. Our unit was clean but very basic in its furnishings. The kitchen has new appliances but the remainder of the unit could have been furnished from a garage sale. The TVs are a tube type in the bedroom and a 30 inch flat screen in the living room. The bed is good but should be a king not a queen size. There is very little dresser type storage in the bedroom. The bathroom is the open style with no doors except for the toilet. The shower is like 2x2 reminding me of an old cruise ship shower. You have the feeling that there are an excessive number of rules and regulations and fines associated with non-compliance. There are signs throughout the unit about what not to do and the consequences of failing to mind the rules. Then on top of that are the complex association's rules regarding the common areas like the pool, etc.. The location in Waikoloa is good within walking distance of shopping and beaches. We would probably.not stay here on a return visit.
I-5: It's a nice condo development but each unit is individually owned for a unique renters experience. This owner cuts every corner to provide a low end tourist experience. Rummage sale furnishings, broken appliances, crummy dinnerware, blah, blah, blah - even the toilet paper reflects the cheapest stuff you can find in North America. It's a great venue but be careful of which room you are assigned.
