Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff
- What's Included
The property is nice with a central garden, open air lobby and waterfalls. There are two pools and a spectacular ocean, and lava beach view from them. There is no beach access, but there are lovely beaches nearby. The front desk and concierges are friendly and helpful. There are no bellman and you do have to struggle with your own luggage on those ridiculous carts that a previous reviewer mentioned. I liked the underground parking which I found secure and an easy transition from parking to our room. Our room was spacious and nicely furnished. We had a one bedroom condo. It's not the Ritz but is furnished island style, with rattan and floral furniture. The condo supplies all that you will need as far as kitchen supplies, bathroom supplies, extra towels, coffee and ice. We complained about our original coffee maker and it was replaced that day. Our room had a washer and dryer... yeah! When we needed more supplies, like laundry detergent or toilet paper, the front desk supplied that. The wifi works well. The lanai (patio) is large and offers a great view. I only have a few complaints: We booked an ocean view, and it was.. but at a distance. The property is large and if you are set back on the 6th or 7th floor, you will only have a distant view. If I were to stay here again, I would book an ocean front. I tried to move when we arrived but was told nothing was available. The ocean front condos are about $40.00 more per night. Next, the rooms do smell funny which you'll notice after a long day of sightseeing. I think it is a musty smell due to the high humidity in this area.Although the overall condo was clean... the bathroom tub was a little suspect. I bought a bottle bleach. And finally... On two occasions, we had a great big beetle run across the floor, actually straight at me. Yikes! I did call the front desk, who graciously offered pest control. I declined; it is the tropics.Ali'i drive is great place to start your exploration of Hawaii! Overall, I would stay here again!
The room had a stench that hit you in the face. The foyer area and outside the master bedroom, bathroom and laundry room smelled as if animals had gone to the bathroom several times and they tried to mask it with fresher. We got in late and was tired from the long trip, that morning we called the front desk to report the awful smell. They stated they would bring in an atomizer machine to see if that would help the smell and we stated we would be out of the room for some time that day. When we came back, you could tell they had done the atomizer, but the smell was still there. I called the front desk and reported it and asked to be moved to another room. They stated they had none available. We asked again for them to bring in the atomizer the next day as we would be at Pearl Harbor all day. When we arrived back that night, the room still smelled like animals has done their business. We noticed that the carpets had been cleaned and all the fans were on in all the rooms. However, you still could smell the odor. I called the front desk immediately and told them this was not acceptable and they needed to try and move us. The front desk indicated they would report it to the morning personnel and get us another room. The front desk stated they found us another room. We went and looked at this room that night and as soon as you entered this room, it smelled even worse than the one we were in. The whole place smelled really bad throughout like animals had gone to the bathroom. Needless to say this one was ocean view. We did go back to the front desk and told them we would not take that room as the oder was horrific in there too. Of course we told them it smelled like animals. At that point they indicated that some of the rooms they did allow animals to stay in them. They did try and tell us that no animals stayed in these rooms 509 or 420. We told them we found that hard to believe as we know what we were smelling and it smelled like animal pee and stuff. Needless to say, we stayed in 509 for the remaining stay. We made the best of it as it was centrally located to all activities. If we had know this resort accepted pets, we would have chose a different place. Be sure to ask ahead of time what room location you have an if there have been any pets in there prior to checking in.
We booked an Ocean Front apartment and for the cost were expecting a beautiful apartment. It turned out the only good thing was the view. The apartment had very dated furnishings, ugly, trashy artworks, the vertical blinds were broken (falling off the wall), and the refrigerator was noisy. Bathroom in need of an update. We visited our family's apartment (a lower-cost 'garden view') and it appeared to be recently refurbished with good quality curtains, tasteful artworks, and an updated kitchen and bathroom. This made us really angry! There is no bell desk and the reception is not 24hrs. You have to take your own luggage to your room on a trolley which is very difficult to maneuver. It barely fits in the tiny elevator! We got a parking pass, but the majority of the undercover parking were 'no parking' spaces. It is inconvenient to have no bar/restaurant on site. It was also confusing upon arrival as there is no 'Outrigger' signage at all. This is actually a Wyndham property, and we believe preference is given to the Wyndham guests.
A great place to stay just out of Kona. Very quite self contained units with all in them. 2 pools, one for adults only, very friendly and most helpful front of house staff. we did all our tours and bookings through them and it was so hassle free. This is a reasonably priced motel complex just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip.
By far the best hotel we had on our trip its very easy to find. We liked everything about it. The bed was confy, the kitchen very cute and there was a washingmachine. The people working there were very friendly and helpful they gave us some very good advices on what to do where. We loved it
