Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff
- What's Included
We have been staying at the Royal Sea Cliff since 2010! We truly feel at home here. Very clean & the grounds are beautiful. The staff are very welcoming & helpful. Jenny & Yuko always make sure we are very well taken care of.
Booked room thru TripAdvisor. The condos’s owner communicated with us frequently thru email and when we had a question he responded almost immediately. We stayed in unit 501. The condo complex has 150 condos but it didn’t feel that large. There is a pretty and well-kept garden in the center of the complex and the back of the property looks out across the ocean. Our condo was a 1 bathroom efficiency unit with a large kitchen and balcony. The room was quiet at night but during the day it was noisy (mostly from the lawn crews). There’s plenty of parking in the gated parking garage and the complex is easy to find. Unit 501 is an end unit but doesn’t have much of a view from the balcony. The owner provided plenty of towels, paper product staples, kitchen wares, and bar soap. There’s even a washer and dryer in the unit. We bought our own shampoo and any food that we wanted to cook. The unit’s A/C worked very well too. The unit is about 1.5 miles from Kona, which is an easy drive, uber or cab ride along Ali’i Drive into town. We tried walking along the shoulder, (there’s no dedicated sidewalk this far out), but it’s just too unsafe at points where the shoulder significantly narrows as cars and trucks are zooming by less than a foot away. Although the Royal Sea Cliff borders the ocean, there isn’t an opportunity to make use of its shore for swimming, snorkeling or other water-based activities. For those, you’ll need to track down a public beach. However, there are two pools for guests to use if you just want to lounge in the sun. The price to rent the condo was much less than what you’d pay at a hotel in Kona and we liked working with the owner. If we return to the Big Island, we’d consider staying here again.
We booked this place through Costco. We had a garden view 1 BR condo, room 506. Stayed here for new year. The resort is very well maintained with 2 nice pools and a Jacuzzi. Our condo has garden view and a faraway view of the ocean as well. Condo had all amenities, utensils, coffee maker, etc. It also had a deep tub. The sleeping was comfortable. This place is a 5 min drive away from coconut grove marketplace and within easy reach of many eateries. The place also has a vending machine in parking for late night hunger pangs. The front desk is very helpful. They helped us get tours booked and were always ready to guide us with nearest grocery store or urgent care when asked. They also provide free laundry detergent so that is a plus :)
Stayed at this hotel/condo for about 10 nights at the end of November.give it a much higher rate if our room was cleaned properly every day. We have been charged at the end of our stay $15/day for the room cleaning. When we noted at the front desk that our room had never been cleaned, we were told that it was a hotel/condo standard policy, which we found very very unusual. It was the first time in our life when we have been charged for the work not done. Unfortunately we did not have time to argue with the staff, so we just paid as requested.
The time share is located outside the tourist hussel of downtown Kona and has all of the charm of things Hawaiian. Green grounds, ocean sounds and a slow pace. The facility is easy to get to with an easy access to Hi 11 and the ability to avoid the Kona crawl on 11 by taking to the bypass if you are headed toward Cook Inlet, South Island or Volcano. I found the staff easy and helpful and not at all pushy about owner updates and the timeshare stuff. If I come back to the island I will use the facility again.
