Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista
- What's Included
We stayed at this hotel one night in October 2017 en route to Port Canaveral for a cruise. We arrived at 3:30p, they said our room was ready, gave us a key. Housekeeping had not picked up the soiled bed linens & bathroom wasn't clean. Housekeeping happened to walk by & asked why we're in the room? We told them because we just checked in. They said they had not released the room for the next guest.Back down to the front desk we go, we were given another room - a room that stunk from smoke! This will not work & we were back a the front desk for a 3rd time. Finally received a clean, non-smoking room. There was no real apology for the mix-up. Once we finally got into the room, it was okay. The stairwells & exterior walkways were dirty - trash needed to be picked up & desperately needed a good pressure washing. Even thought this location is indeed close to Disney area, not sure we would stay here again because the front desk is a mess.
This is a very well run property. Great staff, clean comfortable rooms with fridge and microwave, speedy elevators and nice swimming pools, convenient location, nice restaurant and store for incidentals, game room and free parking are some of the things that come to mind. They have free shuttles to most of the major venues.
We have been there to have a place central between Sea World, Universal and Disney and this Hotel was the right choice. The room was clean and well maintained. Situated on the 3rd floor and facing the parkinglot towards Palm Parkway, it was also a very silent room. The cleaning personnel was always very friendly and when we went to the soda vending machines at the elevators, they also offered us to change our 2 US$ bills into two 1 US$ bills, because the machines did not accept them. Later we found out that those machines also accepted Visa and Master Cards as well as ApplePay.The breakfast buffet served in the main building was also very good for its price, with a wide choice of fresh and canned fruits, continental breakfast items as well as fried sausages, bacon, eggs and beans. Furthermore there was a wide selection of cereals, pancakes, waffles and French toast. We did not book the breakfast in advance, but that was not an issue at all, since we could just walk up to the restaurant and ask to be seated. As soon as we have finished breakfast we went to pay and we were good to go.The personnel in the restaurant was very pleasant, everyone had a friendly word and as soon as your glasses were empty they offered to serve new drinks and the best was that the drinks were included in the price of the breakfast. The evening bar was okay, beer was fresh and the Pizza was good for the price.Even tough the pool area is situated on the side facing the motorway it was not noisy and after a long day walking through the Parks there was still time to relax in the water. The pool was clean and sufficient amounts of towels were available. The biggest plus of this Hotel is its free shuttle service to all big themeparks in orlando.WiFi coverage was good and set up as a roaming network, so once you were singed in in you were covered in the whole hotel and even wide areas of the car park. The only downside of our stay at this hotel was that the advertisements and invitations to visit a near by time share resort was a little bit to persistent.Other than that this was a great stay and I am happy to return in the future.
Stayed her for three nights late December. Room was big, clean and had comfy beds.Location was convenient, close to shops and restaurants. Two things/negatives:1. Shuttles to Universal only run once a day there and once back2. We bought Universal tickets at Concierge on the day of check in - the lady who sold them to us said she could gives us discounted tickets if we did a ‘90 min site inspection’ at one of the Sheraton hotels. Umm really strange, as Clarion and Sheraton are competitors with each other. Anyways we stupidly did so to save some a few hundred dollars. Little did we know it was a lure to get us to the Sheraton so they could try and sell an accommodation program to you!!! This took us 2.5-3 hours round trip. If we had known what this was all about, we would have paid more for the park tickets to avoid this. I don’t understand why the hotel allows a Sheraton representative to do this. If you are looking for a convenient, ‘no frills’ hotel this is it. Just avoid the ‘cheap Universal tickets’ at Concierge.
I'm not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from.... This hotel is perfect for exactly what people need. We stayed her for 2 weeks and as I'm sure most of you will be heading off out most days to either Disney World or Universal Studios like we did. We got free breakfast each day and 2 evening meals per week at this hotel (this might be dependent on who you book with). The breakfast was always tasty and plentiful as was the evening meal (given how expensive it is to eat in Disney the free food was greatly received to save a bit of cash). The hotel rooms themselves are a little dated and could do with a new lick of paint but that said they were clean and very comfortable! Again this is all you need after a long tiring day walking endlessly around the parks. A short distance down the road (5mins walk) there is a little 'square' with a convenient store, pizza place, a bar, hoots, medical center etc. Very hand if you fancy a snack or meal after a long day. Also a short distance further is a Denny's and a few other eateries. The hotel offers a free shuttle to Disney, Universal, Wet & Wild, Aquatica and Sea world again very handy. Whilst i'm sure staying on the grounds of Disney is great it also inst cheap and to be honest it was nice coming away from it all in the evening (Disney is literally like a 10min drive in the shuttle bus). All in all this hotel offers everything you need even a lovely pool and a beautiful decking area overlooking the lake for them evening drinks. The only thing it didn't have was a gym for me this was fine however my partner does like to still work out whilst away so this was a bit of a let down for him, but after all the walking around all day its something that you can easily go without.
