Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista
- What's Included
We had 3 rooms in our party of 10 peopleHad to change rooms 5 times due to cockroaches and eventually checked out the hotel 10 days early and book into to another hotel would avoid this place like the plague
We stayed here in January 2016 on our trip to Florida. We chose this place specifically because we were on a tight budget for Disney and couldn't afford to stay in a Disney hotel. This hotel worked fairly well as they included transfers to most of the parks from the hotel at no extra cost. The hotel was clean and comfortable. It came with a mini fridge and microwave which was great. We save money by bringing (or buying cheap) breakfast type stuff with us; e.g. yogurts, granola bars, juice, mill, mini cereal, etc. That way we can save meal money for the parks and save generally on the vacation. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The AC and heat both worked (we had to use both on this trip). There was an outdoor pool that we didn't use as it was only 5 above zero and we were all frozen that week. it seemed in good repair and nicely landscaped though. We ate breakfast at the restaurant once, a bit pricey and service was slow, food was average at best. We also had drinks at the bar one night. Good service and average priced drinks. There is a small gift shop with some necessary items as well as additional souvenirs in case you missed something. Check in and checkout was smooth and courteous. The location of the hotel is near to some souvenir shopping and a few restaurants (we tried a great Cuban one nearby) but a pretty far walk to any of the parks or Disney Springs. We tried to walk back from Disney Springs one night but got lost and called a taxi. The transfers to the parks was mostly good. There were a few that went at 11am, which was a bit later than we would have liked as most of the parks opened at 9. We would have liked to be there at the start of the day to maximize time. There were also a few shuttles that the last one left before the closing of that particular park, so sometimes we had to miss the fireworks show or leave earlier than we would have liked. I think this may have been because we were there in "Off-season" but a few earlier and later shuttles would have been preferable. On the whole though, we were able do do Disney very affordably because of the cost of this hotel and the free shuttles.
Lovely hotel which is in the middle of all the parks. Easy for accessing universal studios and Disney by car. The shuttle bus schedule seemed very limited so as we had a car we did not use it. I now plan to book this hotel for any future visits to Orlando as its everything you need at a very good price. We stayed for 18 nights, so plenty of time to test it thoroughly. Air con worked well and little noise from guests walking past the room. We had a room near the stairwell so should have had lots of visitors walk buy. We did get a bit of a sales spiel when we arrived. But they were not pushy or off-putting. We didn't buy anything as I had already booked everything we needed.
Superb location, LBV is excellent stay here few times, better than I-Drive and Kissimmee. 5 mins from Disney Springs, as for the hotel it's budget and basic, avoid the lobby as they try to hard sell you tickets and time shares (avoid anyone in Sheraton tshirts). Shuttles aren't at great times if you want to get to parks early. Restaurant expensive and buffet not great, pools basic, splash zone good for kids, air con very loud but good when hot! If staying with young kids it's not ideal really as no balcony or other room whilst they are sleeping. If your thinking we won't be spending anytime in the hotel as we will be in parks or eating our etc, this hotel will do. Alarming that I've seen a few reviews about staff just entering rooms and saying 'Sorry' happened several times to us. Really didn't fell as if my things were secure so didn't leave money in room. Lake BV is superb for Disney parks and 15 mins from Sea World or Universal, my 7th visit and decided to do the holiday on a budget and see what it was like, my advice would be try and go to the Orlando and stay in Disney if you can drop on a free dinning plan your laughing, villas are excellent as well. You get what you pay for an average, clean hotel. Oh and don't use the hotel shop it's so expensive Wal-Mart close and so cheap.
My poor rating is mainly based on a major safety concern noted while staying at this hotel that went completely disregarded by the hotel manager! I wrote their customer relations line immediately following my stay and 3 weeks later have not received a response - so I'm writing here to warn others!!I came visiting the Orlando area on a business trip May 2017. I am a young female, and was traveling alone for the majority of the trip. Most of my time during the day was spent working, so therefore I was not spending much time in the room. Most days, I left the “do not disturb” on the door, in order to allow housekeeping to skip over my room as most days it did not need servicing. However, about halfway through my trip I decided to have housekeeping service as my trash was piling up. I left the room early in the morning at returned to the room around 3pm. At this time, housekeeping had already serviced my room. Being young female traveling alone, I usually lock the deadbolt on the door as soon as I enter, but I was exhausted, so I came back and got into bed to take a nap. Around 4pm, I awoke to someone entering my room. The person did not knock before or while entering, or give any indication of who they were or why they were entering my room. As soon as they realized someone was in the room they said, “sorry” and quickly shut the door. I was so startled, and by the time I rolled over to see the person they were already gone. I was unsure if this was a hotel employee entering my room, or if someone at the front desk had accidentally assigned my room to someone else (as I had read reviews about this happening). Being frightened for my safety and concerned over who was entering my room, I immediately called the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. After expressing my concern to the hotel manager, I felt very brushed off. The manager asked if I just checked in (I checked in a week prior), if I had ordered room service or laundry service (I hadn’t), or if it was housekeeping coming to service my room (room had already been serviced for the day). I told the manager that none of these were the case, and that I felt unsafe in my room. She told me that she would find out who entered my room, and contact security regarding the issue. I expected a call back from the manager at some point for an apology, or to provide me with an explanation as to who it was. The manager never called me back after the incident.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO DEADBOLT ROOM WHILE INSIDE!! I was very pleased with my stay and hotel staff up until this incident occurred, but after was left feeling unhappy and unsafe in my room. Safety is my number one concern while visiting new hotels, and I picked Clarion LBV because it seemed like a safe place to stay. Even if it was a hotel staff member entering my room, they should not be entering my personal space without a courtesy knock to see if anyone is in the room. The room was checked out to me, so no employees should be entering the room without knocking. I could’ve been changing or in the shower! What was a pleasant stay quickly turned sour when the hotel manager was less than concerned regarding the incident, and did not even supply an apology. If this is how safety concerns are approached at all choice hotels, I will definitely not be conducting any further business. The staff at this hotel should definitely be taught courtesy, and to knock before entering a guest’s room!
