Delano Las Vegas
- What's Included
For business purposes this a great property if you are needing a suite. The decor is very unique, and overall this made for a great place to stay since the conference was in the Mandalay Bay conference center. Just be prepared to walk quite a bit.
i spent a week at Delano. I was Vegas on business. I really don't like Vegas that much, the hustle and bustle as just too much for me and a lot of the hotels jam slot machines down your throat at every opportunity. As I don't gamble this is really off putting.Delano is anything but that. It exists within the Mandalay Bay complex so if you want the hustle and bustle and slot machines etc its right next door but if (like me) you just want somewhere comfortable and quiet to sleep then I don't think you can go wrong here. Walking into the lobby is like walking into a sanctuary from the bedlam that is Vegas:)Delano is pretty chic. The room I had was on the 23rd floor looking out over the airport. It was a a 2 room suite with a nicely appointed living room and a comfortable bed. Black out curtains kept the sun out the room so sleep was blissful. Large bathroom with twin wash basins and an enormous bath. Shower was great. 3 TV's although the programming available was pretty bleak.I did try and order room service once but it took them too long to answer the phone so I gave up and that is the only reason I did not give this hotel a 5 star rating. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating checking in and out was really easy.I would 100% go back to Delano it made my stay in Vegas very bearable. Big thumbs up.
The Delano is great and gives you extra bang for your buck since it is connected to the mandalay bay resort. Enjoy all of the amenities and convenience of this location on your trip as well as the ability to escape to the quiet privacy of the Delano.
This is a nice hotel - clean, beautiful rooms. It does not have its own casino so you feel a slight reprieve from the busy casino scene but are a 5 minute indoor walk from Mandalay Bay's amenities. The pool scene is disappointing. If you are looking for an overcrowded, kid friendly, pool with bumping music this is the place for you. If you're looking for relaxation and time to enjoy a book poolside look elsewhere. As a guest at the Delano you have access to the Mandalay Bay pools (party scene) and the Delano pool which is advertised as tranquil and serene. It is just as clubby as the rest of the pool grounds with little/no shade. I enjoyed the hotel room, restaurant, and Skyfall Lounge but would not return to this hotel for lack of relaxing pool scene.
I'm going to write two reviews for this hotel as I just checked in and its everything bad you read about on here so far! I am an avid traveler and I love nice hotels because I like excellent service so when I heard my annual conference was going to be held at Mandalay Bay, I was thrilled! At the direction of another attendee, I chose to stay at the Delano because they said it was the better of the two hotels so I of course, booked it immediately thinking they knew something that I didn't know. Once I started reading the reviews I got nervous but decided that poor planning is a huge issue with happy travelers and being the planner that I was, you can bet I looked at everything including applying for their credit card because it's supposed to provide "exceptional service for members"! Ha! I called this hotel many times asking different questions, emailed them, everything to make sure that I could check in early. I joined MLife and really did my homework so I felt really confident that between my exceptional travel skills, multiple phone calls and emails that for sure we would all be successful....not! I received an email letting me know it was time to check into the hotel and if I wanted early check in, click this button here and all would be well. I clicked the button and I could get early check in for $40 which was fine with me since I was getting in at 8:30! I filled out the form, emailed it in even using my new credit card thinking "hint hint".My flight arrived an hour early so when I got to the hotel, I really didn't expect to check in at 8 in the morning but to my surprise, they didn't receive my early check in request. I checked my balance and sure enough, it wasn't there so I don't know if the first time charge on line was an issue or what but whatever, I was looking at a human being and she said she would do what they could. Funny thing is that I used AMEX for booking months ago, but she had my new account that I put on my reservations LAST NIGHT! Hmm....I went and had breakfast, hung out in the casino for a bit, walked over to a store across the street....went back to the hotel and a staff worker said most likely my room was ready. I went up to the room only to find that the room was not made up yet and hoped the people weren't still there!. I went back downstairs and then got an email stating my room was ready but with a totally different hotel room. I again, went back up to this new room only to find the keys didn't work. One of the staff said it was probably a typo and if I just go to the original room, it's probably ready....this is like 2 hours in between so I agreed and went back up and sure enough, the room key worked again but the room wasn't made up and I think someone was still there! I called the concierge desk and explained what was going on and that I was worried the occupants were going to come back and he put me on hold FOREVER! I finally gave up, left them on speaker just because and headed back downstairs to the front desk that was now packed! I scoped out the concierge desk, the guy sitting there said it wasn't him on the phone but he could help. Now by this point, my hair is a hot mess, I'm sweating like a pig and gasping for air from the smell of one of the floors....let's just say, it's not legal here but I think it will be so why complain...anyway, the guy at the desk said my room keys were wrong! Shocking! He gave me my keys, hooked me up with my luggage and I am now sitting I my room cooling down trying to figure out how it went so wrong! The bellman showed up, Garrett, and I will tell you, he was about the only person that recognized I was angry, exhausted and not happy about the incident. I told him the whole story and he wanted to do something for me like get me a fridge for free for my water cause apparently the room fridge is filled with hotel stuff and if you move it for more than 10 seconds, you get charged! I found a small shelf and told him I was fine and now, I am hoping that this fiasco was just a slight mishap and now we can really see what The Delano has to offer! I hope! Now, the room! All of the ones I seen at check in! I got the King Suite with a view and out one window is the airport and the other is mountains and some of the strip. I see more roof than anything but I'm way too exhausted to even think about complaining cause I'm not moving! The room has a small half bath when you walk in the door, big foyer, huge living room and a separate bedroom and bathroom that has a huge garden tub, a separate shower and a small bathroom closet for the toilet and it's lovely! What a shame the service didn't match the quality of the rooms! Let's hope things pick up from here! Stay tuned for my final review at the end of my stay! I'm dying to see how it turns out!
