Delano Las Vegas
- What's Included
We booked our stay at the Delano as a part of a Las Vegas package through Vegas.com for a long family weekend, mostly because of the pool complex. The rate was great, including two free buffets per room. The check in at 9:00 AM was easy and they had no problem offering our room key access to the pool even though our rooms weren't ready until after three PM, disappointing but OK. The rooms have very modern decor which some of us thought wasn't very 'homey' but it was nice to have a large living room with nice views, and a powder room. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom exceptional with large soaking tub, glass shower, double sinks, and separate water closet. Be aware...There is a coffee maker but no cups( bring your own coffee pods and cups), WiFi is free which is nice but otherwise the mini bar, coffee, and water are all pay as you go. The thing to know is the Delano/Mandalay Bay is as far on the west end of the strip as you can get so you must walk a lot to get to the middle of the strip and all it offers or take the free tram with a lot of in- between walking to get to the Bellagio. Even walking from the Delano to Mandalay Bay, the casino, the beach, the restaurants and bars is quite the walk. The pool/beach area is outstanding. Bring lazy river tubes from home, the store that sells them for $23 will blow yours up for free. Drinks and food are very pricy but they only inspect beach bags for glass so........our personal and plastic water bottles were not inspected, just saying.......All in all, our stay was very nice, even a little classy! Yay for us!!
During a business trip to Las Vegas for a conference at Mandalay Bay Resort, I had the opportunity to stay at, Delano. For those of you that stayed at Mandalay Bay in past you might remember "The Hotel @ Mandalay Bay", their all suite hotel. It's now called "Delano - Las Vegas", a sister property to "Delano - Miami". Changing from "The Hotel" to "Delano", wasn't just a name change, it was a hotel transformation. Delano, as a brand, evokes luxury with an unexpected touch of individuality. In the transformation, the lobby received a major renovation, common areas remodeled, rooms were refreshed and overall service was upgraded. The Mandalay Bay Resort has a distinct sent of coconut spice that sets the mood in the resort, where Delano uses Green Tea Lemongrass scent during the day and Black Tea Fig scent at night. Those aromas transport you to a comforting and calming place, just like the Delano. The rooms were not special and wasn't anything to write home about, but the change in color scheme wasn't my thing at first. But, after five days I came to appreciate the new color scheme. The cool and warm color contrasts were paired well together. The off white for those super hot Las Vegas days and warm tones for the cool nights. I always loved THE HOTEL with its all suite and boutique hotel feel, and now Delano has taken that to the next level. However, the new kid on the block (Aria) with her Tower and Sky Suites are a significant upgrade for all suite resorts. Buyer be warned, so is the Aria price per night. If you want a calm and quite place to stay that are steps away from gaming, food, and entertainment with an almost off the strip feel at a lower price...check out Delano. You won't be disappointed.
I haven't been here in awhile but recently had a friend that stayed and I like the remodeled look. They didn't do too much different to the rooms so if you didn't really pay attention before you probably wouldn't notice. The front sitting area is really comfy and spacious, the bathroom in the bedroom is huge and the front bathroom is decent sized. The bed was comfy and the views weren't bad. They even redid the lounge area before the hotel elevators.
Where do I start, ok at the beginning. To start we have just checked in at Delano, after checking out of TRUMP Las Vegas. In a few words, Trump is 100 times better than the Delano. We had a corner suite at Trump, we have a scenic suite at Delano. We had 8 nights at Trump average of $287 per night, Delano scenic is average of $297 per night. There is no comparison, it's Trump every day of the week. The only good thing is that we only have 3 nights at Delano. So a review. We only just got in the suite, and have had to ask forThe bath robesMore towels(they only gave us 2, so one each)This is supposed to be a 4/5 star hotelThe bell guys are really good, fair play to themReceptionist who check us in (no welcome, no smile, just ID etc etc etc)Just plain poorThe room is clean, as you would expectWet bar, why its so expensiveThe fridge has a personal space, as long as you want to store just a can of PepsiCoffee in the room, $4.50 each cupIt's free at Trump, and you can get as many as you wantWardrobe space (it's ok as long as you are only here for a couple of daysYou won't lose anything it the room drawers (There are none)3 Televisions though and a work desk with computer chairIt really sounds like a negative review, the hotel is nice, room okTRUMP IS REALLY REALLY MUCH BETTERWe are back in July and had a room booked at Delano, it's already cancelled, going to stay at Trump. We have another 2 nights here, so will probably do another review on departure. The review for the amazing Trump is coming soon
This was a special birthday so I decided to celebrate in Vegas at my favourite hotel.I e mailed customer services beforehand requesting a higher floor with a room away from the lifts.I also e mailed the concierge to book my birthday meal at Il Lupos. I received prompt replies from both confirming my requests.Booking in was very quick with efficient and friendly service. My room was as requested and I also received a voucher for 50 dollars off food and beverages. The room was very comfortable but I did miss the slippers and I think the quality of the bathrobes has changed. The cleaning of the room was excellent and plenty of towels were provided.Checking out was also very efficient. The staff make this hotel.Only one niggle the dreaded tax resort which is common in all MGM resort hotels.I would prefer to pay extra to use the gym and in this day and age WiFi should be free.
