Our Opinion
First-rate service and hospitality. Hands down the best hotel in the downtown area. A great place to stay if you're looking for a change from the popular Las Vegas Strip. Highly recommended for those who wish to stay in the downtown area.

Overview
The most historic hotel in Vegas to have achieved the AAA 4-Diamond Award for 24 consecutive years. An elegant hotel, richly appointed with marble, crystal and brass. The dazzling $70 million Fremont Street Experience is right outside the door in downtown Las Vegas. The Golden Nugget is as lustrous as the Hand of Faith, a 61 pound gold nugget displayed inside the hotel.

Location: On Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas.

Great hotel

This was our trip to Vegas and I was a bit worried about staying off the strip. That worry lasted on 2 mins after we arrived. This hotel was fantastic. Great music in the lounge, great service in the buffet restaurant. Housekeeping staff were wonderful as well. Only thing that was a bit disappointing was the pool was closed for renovation but other than that we would go back to the Golden Nugget! We stayed on the upgraded side where we found the room spacious and worth the extra money.Great stay!

problems problems

We booked the deluxe VIP room on the 17th NON SMOKING floor and our room was very smokey. We reported the problem to front desk 3 times and to management 3 times over a 24 hour period of time. They came up and sprayed a deoderizer which left the room smelling like sweet cigarete smoke. They told us they would try to find us a new room but they were oversold so this never happened. I was told to go down and talk to manager in person about a refund. Our shower was defective too.The lever to turn the shower head on did not work so most of the water came out the bathtub spiggot. This was reported also. The manager would only credit us back 1 night out of the 2 we stayed. Will not stay here again

Worst customer service in our west coast exerience

We selected this hotel because we wanted to be on Freemont Street. We were two couples. We had problems with our check in as they were not able to find our reservations; they seemed so unexperienced and incompetent...; After being able to check in at around 6 or 7 pm when we got in the room there was so much noise coming from outside and through the walls that I couldn't believe my ears; I really think they did that on purpose. Anyway.. Every single 2 days, we had no light in the bathroom... The double bed in the room was some sort of couch / sofa as our heads were always staying at a higher level than the legs. At check out desk, they told me that I have to pay extra charges that have already been paid. The only positive aspect of our staying there was Vic & Anthony's Restaurant, a fine dinning restaurant with exquisite dishes. So in conclusion, if you want to enjoy your stay in Las Vegas, choose another hotel!

Another great stay!

We have stayed at the Golden Nugget 9 years in a row. We have always gotten the type of room requested. We have never had any problems with the front desk or house keeping. Check in has always been fast and smooth. The rooms have always been clean. The last couple of years we have stayed in the Rush tower. The rooms are big, clean and quiet. You don't hear any noise from adjoining rooms. You have quick access to Fremont Street. There is a Starbucks in the front of the hotel with a private seating area right on Fremont Street. I read some of these reviews and wonder if we are talking about the same place. The Nugget always meets or exceeds our expectations each trip.

Buffet is worst ever

At $22 per person this buffet is bland and sparse with mediocre service. Just awful. The $6.49 buffet where I live in small town Florida has about twice the items and the food has flavor. One of the worst meals I ever had, certainly in Vegas
