Had to stay for work conference. Old updated rooms with poorly working elevators. The conference rooms were adequate; however, more work to improve them can be done. The Starbucks workers were nice...
We arrived around 4 pm, there was a lot of queue for the check in, but we got a free upgrade! The room was in the main tower, really nice and modern! Staff really friendly! Pool bar had good cocktails but nothing "amazing".Directly on the Main Street of the "old vegas" freamont. We spent 25$ to get to the strip in vegas by taxi. However, during the night other customers decided that they were funny enough to knock on the doors and scream in the corridors (at 3 am). They tried to enter in our room and I heard them trying also other rooms, as they didn't remember they room number.I know it's not the fault of the hotel, but honestly i didn't felt really comfortable in that situation.Overall a really good hotel, good customer care, but maybe staff at check in could smile a bit more? :-) but I know that's difficult when you have to check in at least 20 people that are waiting in line...
Some people love glitz and glam... I love the old strip. I think it's more entertaining and everything is in walking distance. I stayed on the new strip a few times and hated it- I had to take a cab everywhere or drive and pay to park. The Golden Nugget is moderately priced and the pool is awesome.
Upon arriving we found out that the shark tank was under construction. It was one of the main reasons we picked this hotel. However they did upgrade our room from Carson Tower to Rush Tower and the room was gorgeous! Softest mattress, pillows and robes I've ever used. The bathroom was a huge! The staff was friendly and helpful. The other disappointment was the Resort Fees - $32 a day which covers parking (we didn't have a car), WiFi (everyone has Free Wireless), the fitness center (come on, it's vacation in Vegas, who's going to the gym?) and 2 bottles of water a day. Now of all the things we are forced to pay for that we wouldn't use was the water. However not once was it delivered to our room. We called down and asked but it never showed up so I called again and got some an hour later. It just wasn't worth it. I really wish you could pay for these things ala carte but you don't have a choice. Apparently all the hotels do this. Other than that the location was great, the casino was nice and we loved our room so staying here is a good bet.
well, our "refreshed room" was not that nice. Green old carpet, old furniture and décor. Crappy shower. So, we switched room. Upon switching I left some items in the old room. Do you think I could ever get them back? HELL NO. we talked to every stinking person there and they give you the run around with no follow up. So, I lost those items. There was a concert going on and we might as well been there cause it was that loud. NO SOUND PROOFING AT ALL. Our room service breakfast was cold. The shark tank was closed for repair. What was the resort fee for? Anyway, it was nice to be able to walk around from our hotel...so that was nice at least, but you pay the price for that. LOUD! Hallways are loud too. I thought someone was breaking into my room. Anyway, fun time...hotel...not so much.
