Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino
- What's Included
I stayed for 2 N -13 and 14 June. 24207. Rush tower. The hotel itself is fine and I also got a free upgrade to rush tower. The suite was great and well appointed. The ambience is perfect. Everything is great about this hotel. Rush tower is great. However I have been running from pillar to post to get the invoice from these guys. I have sent 3 reminder 2 phone calls and 1 VM but these guys just don't seem to care to send the bill. They have charged the card but have no courtesy to send the invoice. It is such a shame that hotel of this standard is let down by people in the back office. I travel frequently and haven't come across such an efficient hotel. I am fed up of following up and these guys forced me to write this public review. Hope this will gain their attention, if not, I don't know will.
Our stay at the Golden Nugget was a 180 for me. I was unsure about my husband's reservation to stay for a night on our way to Zion. I associate downtown hotels with smoke infused hair and dated interiors.I was surprised to step into the hotel. From check-in lobby to our walk to the Rush tower had no smoke present. There's a Rush tower's own concierge and the rooms are spacious with modern fixtures. Our kids loved the rain showers. Their rates were reasonable with a great breakfast buffet. Humbled pie was definitely on the menu.
Rush tower is the best part to a accommodation in if you stay in the Golden Nugget and that tower would probably give any reasonably priced hotel in Vegas a run for the money. Our room was huge, modern, upscale and the entire tower is smoke free. We had 2 other couples from our family staying at golden nugget and they were in different towers from us and from each other, so 3 different towers within golden nugget. Hands down ours was much, much nicer than the rooms in both of their towers at golden nugget. We stayed at Golden Nugget the first part of our trip and Vdara on the strip the second part of our trip. My husband said when we come back he wants to stay the whole trip in Rush Tower at Golden Nugget. Vdara was vet nice, but our room at Rush Tower was bigger and nicer and Golden Nugget is one of the most convenient places you can stay. It's just so easy to walk to restaurants and casinos. The strip is nice, but walking from one location to another can sometimes seem like a marathon. I would certainly stay in Rush Tower again. We are anti smoke and I loved our room there. (Vdara is anti-smoke too, but it's hotel only, no casino and far walk to stuff sometimes)
We walked in to the lovely smell of cigarette smoke. We called the day before hand to RSVP a two-bed room. When we got to the hotel, I was informed that all the rooms with two beds were given to a group that was coming to town for a special event. No coffee makers in the room (Starbucks in the hotel for $20 or the Dunkin Doughnuts across the way for $4 - I like the Dunkin Doughnuts), the carpet was sticky and the tub was full of gunk. We visited Freemont street on a Wednesday - Wow! Not what I expected! A freak show for sure. Not something for those under 18. The week ended with a huge crowd of Techno people sitting in the lobby waiting for rooms, I did not know it was the gathering of the EDC. We spent money ($20) on cabs most of the time, and was told that Uber is a better way to travel - much less expensive. Next time we will try the south side of the strip or even the main newer strip. Not a big fan of the Golden Nugget......
We booked 3 nights at the Golden Nugget and were told we would be given a 2 bedroom 2 level Spa Tower room, upon arrival to the room we found there was only one bedroom. We telephoned Reception and were advised that we would be moved to a two bedroom suite as soon as possible. This didn't happen and our adult kids were unfortunately subjected to sleeping on a single rollaway for the night. Which was very uncomfortable to say the least. The next morning we asked when we'd be relocating to the 2 bedroom suite, again we were told, it would definately happen, but later in the day. At 7pm we called past the Reception desk and spoke to AJ, he advised us that this wouldn't be happening tonight either and that he could comp us that night, for our inconvenience and he'd arrange a 2nd rollaway to be brought up. At this point we even offered to pay extra to get the room we were told we were getting at check in ( 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms) , as you can imagine sharing a single bathroom with 4 people and sleeping on horrible rollaway beds is horrendous, but there was no way we could get the room we were told that we were getting upon check in.My husband asked if AJ could throw in a complimentary breakfast for our inconvenience, AJ agreed. Which was a nice gesture, but the 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom Spa tower suite that we thought we were getting would have been better.Besides the sleeping in an uncomfortable rollaway with springs coming through for 3 nights and having to share a single bathroom we struggled to say the least. However, If there were only 2 people occupying the room, the Spa Tower Suite 9e, would be perfect. 2 levels, Spa bath, Steam shower, Bidet and King size bed upstairs, downstairs a lounge area, dining area and a bar with remote control block out blinds, sheer drapes and a 2nd toilet. The pool area is beautiful, and we higly recommend staying at this property. All of the staff we encountered were so professional and so friendly. Especially AJ and Tierra who went above and beyond to help us during our stay, thankyou for such for trying so hard, this was wonderful customer service.
