Early on but NOT GOOD so far ....

Checked in last night around midnight for 3 day work meeting after long day of travel. 1st, we had done the online check in to supposedly expedite our check in when we arrived. It didn’t work and we waited 20 Minutes to check in. 2. We paid to upgrade to a Spa suite in the Tower. NO refrigerator other than mini bar and if you even MOVE anything you ate charged for it 3. BATHROOM looked like it had been trashed by previous occupant. Sink was cracked and sealed back together , SHOWER assembly coming out of the wall & NO hot water 4. Called in AM for a room switch and they had nothing available and WOULD NOT UPGRADE . Told us we would have to wait until afternoon to switch rooms. We have meetings this afternoon so that makes things very difficult with NO WARM SHOWER. I will update as trip goes along but so far LESS THAN AVERAGE.

Celebrating 50th birthday

Checked in on the 30th of September, wait time was nothing for check in, which was really nice. We did upgrade from a West Wing room to a Grand queen room. It wasn't offered to us, but, we did ask for it. From previous reviews, we felt we wanted the extra room, plus 2 beds. The room was nice and the view of the Tropicana and Mandalay Bay. Not a full on strip view, but, it was fine. This hotel is big, and it quite a trek to get to the strip, but, after awhile, you get used to is. Never made it to the pool area, but, that's not why I go to Vegas. We were unfortunate enough to be there during the shooting that occurred on the 1st of October, and because of that, we were not able to get back to the MGM that night. Instead we ended up having to get a room a Marriott that was just off the strip. At check out, we explained what happened, and they did end up waiving our resort fees for the entire stay, which was nice. The one thing that we didn't like, and it's not a huge problem, and not sure what they can do about it, but, whenever anyone down our hall would let their door slam, there was some sort of suction that caused our door to rattle like someone was trying to get in. The 1st couple of times when we arrived, it was a little concerning, then after the shooting, everyone was on edge, so, that made for a restless night. Again, not sure what could be done to prevent this issue, but, thought I would mention it. Beds where comfortable, and room was always clean.

Good location near the airport with loads of parking

MGM is in a good location on the strip with loads of parking which is reasonably priced at $12 per 24hrs, pool complex is nice and well controlled, bars are expensive unless your gambling and then drinks are free, nice place all in all and would stay there again.

Worst Room Ever

I stayed at MGM Grand for a convention that I was attending there. The room that we had was on the 11th floor in the West Wing. I have never in my life stayed in a hotel room that looked as shabby as this one did!! When we first got off on the 11th floor to go to our room, the carpet down the LONG hallway was a nice floral and I could see into a few of the room that they were cleaning and the rooms looked nice. As we continued down the hallway we went over a little ridge in the hallway that seemed to connect two building. Because now the hallway was narrower and the carpet was no longer floral, but a dirty looking striped grey/brown. This dirty looking carpet was also in our room. The room was very small. The nightstands had been beaten up pretty good. There was a glass sink with 3 narrow shelves that you saw as soon as you entered the room. No counter to put your toiletries on. There was no tub, just a shower with a cement floor. The toilet was also behind a glass door with cement floor. The room reminded me of a dorm room!!There was no cold water at all that would come out of the sink, just warm to hot. I called the front desk about the room and they stated that this is what all the rooms look like in the west wing. If we wanted to upgrade to a nicer room we would have to pay more. No one ever came to fix the no cold water situation, even though several calls were made. This is a huge hotel!! It is very easy to get lost in! Check in and check out were very easy. Food was good, but nothing special. It was however very expensive. Cheeseburger, fries and a coke was $25. One small soft shell taco and a coke was $15. If you do stay here, make sure that you are not put in the west wing!

Quick Vegas trip

My wife and I booked a room in the West Wing for our one night trip to Vegas. The room was cozy and clean, though it didn’t have a coffeemaker. The shower left much to be desired in terms of water pressure and heat. Otherwise, it was a good value given the low rate we paid for it.
