This was a guys weekend where I was comped a suite. We have never stayed at NYNY before this trip. We arrived early, so we did not expect a room to be ready. One was but we were told that there was not a good view. That did not bother us. The suite was huge, a little beat up, the view was of the roof but the beds were great! The check in staff were very nice and housekeeping was great. The gambling floor is smaller but did provide lower limits table games that my son played. The dealers were nice. The drink service was either very good or spotty at times. The High Limit lounge service was great but that is what you expect in that room. There are a lot of food options from very in-expensive pizza that was very good to more moderate restaurants like Tom Urban's that was also good. One negative was the pool. It is very small and the wait staff that went around the pool was lousy. To get a drink we had to go to the bar where they were very nice. The whole time we were at the pool, no waitress ever came up to us.NYNY is well worth the stay if you are looking to be a little more cost conscious. I would stay here again!
My husband and I stayed at the NY NY for the first time (we visit Vegas every year). I was quite excited about staying here, but the stay didn't live up to my expectations. The NY NY is a busy hotel, the casino is always busy and there is always a lot of people walking though. Check in was slow, but we were able to check in early, which was nice. We had some nights booked under my name and some under my husbands (to get comps), when we checked in we were told that we were checked in for our entire stay and we would not need to come back when the reservation switched over. Well the day that the reservation switched over, we were locked out of our room and did have to go back. The room was all we needed, it was clean. Not very spacious and they don't give you any extra pillows or towels, we just asked though. Housekeeping was really good and friendly, however, they wouldn't knock and would just walk into the room. Also, the walls are very thin, we had kids next door and we could hear them all the time. The pool was disappointing, it's not a big pool or a big pool area, however it is warm. The pool here doesn't open until 10 and by 9.30 there's already a lineup to get in. When the pool firsts opens the whole area is in the shade and it's stays mostly shaded until about mid afternoon. Of course the chairs that get sun first are taken... people wait in line to save spots and then leave, some people don't come back until the afternoon. All in all, the stay was good, however, I think I would try somewhere else next year.
We spent five nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well-situated and huge and within it are a number of restaurants and other amenities. We especially enjoyed the little park that is close to the Beerhouse and the musical groups that played on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Pleasant to sit outside and enjoy the music with other hotel guests. Our favorite spot for breakfast was Tom's Urban. The downside: no fridge or coffee-maker (big mistake, folks); our "Park Avenue" room had no view at all; and the pool is outside and though heated was unusable for us in the cool (but beautiful) spring weather. Don't fail to note the resort fee when booking, as I see some people seemed surprised to encounter it.
Hotel and casino both seem very nice. I do wish there were seating available to wait for those riding the coaster or playing in the arcade. After doing a lot of walking it would be nice to sit and rest while the others play.
This place is a little over due for a face lift. The rooms were well worn and in dire need of some upgrades. But hey, its Vegas right??? well, not everyone is out for vacation and when you are on business, I expect a little nicer place than this. The towels were dingy, carpets worn, furniture had dings in it, windows needed cleaning, bathroom well used and over due for reno... So overall, just OK at best. I honestly have stayed at nicer budget hotels. Go if you like the nightlife, Don't if you are looking for a nice room.
