New York New York
- What's Included
Unless I paid for a Deluxe superiors room this one had no fridge, very poor lighting, no chargers for tablet and phones through USB. No coffee machine in the room. No support for the luggage and very poor closet and storage for clothes. Bathroom small with leaking toilet. Air condition very rumourous. Very poor service in their restaurants without smiling personnel (except Il Fornaio restaurant / not the breakfast). Only plus is the on line check in/out. Price/ quality very bad. Never again.
This was our first time to Las Vegas, and we spent lots of time walking the strip and checking out other hotels. We both agreed that NYNY was our favourite. The location is good - lots going on right around the hotel and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go (mind you, we are walkers!). The longest trek was to Circus Circus...everything else was easy enough to walk to once a person figured out how the skywalks and crosswalks were set up. Check in took about 20 minutes (there was a line every time I looked at the front desk). Our run of the house room was pretty basic - nice king bed, crappy little pillows and a "View" of the roller coaster. A fridge would have been wonderful, and a coffee pot even better, but obviously management wants us out of our room and spending $$, so lack of amenities is understandable. We ARE coffee drinkers, and hubby was able to whip down the elevator and grab us good, reasonably priced coffee down in one of the shops. The room was cleaned well each day while we were out and about. What we loved was the whole "New York" theme, with various store fronts all designed to look like NY City buildings. It was fun to wander around. Also - there are lots of different restaurants (Italian, Irish, etc.) and a generally upbeat, party kind of vibe. Prices for restaurants looked good to us (even after the exchange), though we didn't eat there other than some late night pizza (which was very good). The only ripoff we found was the price of a can of beer in one of the little shops. I'd advise going to the ABC store across the street for your toiletries, forgotten items and, of course, beer. Pretty convenient and inexpensive.Service was good - the self checkout machine wasn't working properly and an attendant came rushing over with an alternate solution to get us on our way quickly. That's indicative of what we experienced overall at this hotel. We will return.
I visited the first week of July ( for a week ) with 3 friends to celebrate a special birthday. It all felt a little strange, walking through the casino to get to the check in desk, and just wasn't what I expected, but first visit to Vegas, and no matter how much I had read, I don't think I had any real idea of what it would all be like.We were located in the century tower on the 27th floor and had a queen room. The room was very large and had excellent air conditioning and windows to 2 sides. We didn't have a strip view. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom a little small but adequate. Blackout curtains were very good. The housekeeper who serviced our room was very pleasant, helpful and very thorough ( sorry but can't remember her name). There were not enough towels for 4 people as standard, but she supplied us with extra throughout the week, so it wasn't a problem. On one occasion, one of our group was unwell and we missed the morning clean as she was resting in the room. She improved later and came out to meet us about 5pm and we were then out for the rest of evening. On our return, the room had been serviced which we hadn't expected at all.Our first meal at America restaurant was disappointing, but there were lots of other meal choices and breakfast in chin chin's was great value. We felt that some of the other hotels offered more variety, especially the food court areas. There is a Denny's diner nearby which offered good food at very reasonable prices and we ate there on several occasions. There are also 2 pharmacies nearby where we could buy a variety of things including food/drinks at much better prices than the hotel. We hired a fridge for an additional 25 dollars per night which was expensive, but worth it for keeping our drinks and especially milk cold. As there were no tea/ coffee making facilities in the room we took a travel kettle and our own supplies. It took a long time to actually boil the kettle and not sure if this was related to having to use a socket adaptor ?.We had room service breakfast on one day which was really good, and we couldn't eat all of the food provided. We didn't ride the roller coaster and although we could hear it, the noise did not really disturb us at all.We used the pool most mornings and the pool area was shaded until quite late. This suited us, as it was incredibly hot during our stay and once the sun had come around it was far too hot for us to stay outside. We got beds near the pool attendants umbrellas to maximise our time outside and took advantage of the shade they provided when we could. It was possible to hire your own umbrella, but at 20 dollars each, this would have been expensive over the whole week. The park area at the side of the hotel is really nice, with live music on one evening, and there was also music near the Brooklyn bridge feature. Plenty going on outside and pleasant to stay out there once it had got a little cooler later at night. The piano bar was great fun and on one evening during the week I went in and really enjoyed it. At weekend, when it was busier you had to pay for seated admission which I wasn't happy to do as a resident of the hotel.Zumanity on our last night was enjoyable, but just glad we were not too near the front as there was some enforced audience participation, and I would have been mortified if selected. The theatre itself was a lovely size and very pleasant. I would be happy to stay at NYNY again, although if I do make it back to Vegas, I would probably try one of the other hotels as there are so many to choose from.
I love this hotel. I love the rooms. They are modern and comfortable. There is a restaurant for every taste. The casino floor is clean and upbeat. The staff is excellent. After two nights at the Flamingo we transfered here after a wedding in July.
Just been to the New York New York with my boyfriend and absolutely loved it! It's such good fun and so many great places to eat and drink to choose from. Every day we were finding areas of the hotel we hadn't seen the day before with more great food choices. The Park on a Tuesday night with live music is great. Lovely laid back atmosphere. The pool is great too I know it's not as big as some others in Las Vegas but it's still a large pool with lots of sunbeds. The rollercoaster was great fun too and rounded off our trip perfectly! This hotel is perfect if you're wanting a laid back good fun trip. Staff were lovely, as they seemed everywhere in Las Vegas! And we loved coyote ugly.
